Build Your Own Grindz Plate ($18) with Salad, Chinese Roast Pork Belly, and Chicharon with Tomato and Onion
    Kristen H.

Da Soriano Grindz is the kind of food truck that instantly feels like a local favorite - unpretentious, welcoming, and full of personality. Parked just off the road near the airport, it may look humble from the outside, but it's in a lively and bustling area surrounded by other pan-Asian food trucks, replete with hungry travelers, locals grabbing lunch, and Maui workers on their break. There's nothing fancy about the ordering process - you order right at the window, watch the cooks working with fresh ingredients, and then either grab a nearby bench or take your food to enjoy elsewhere. The vibe is Filipino comfort food with a Hawaiian twist: friendly, no-frills, and all about satisfying, flavorful meals that hit the spot after a flight or early morning adventure. Their menu spans across multiple poster boards and features large combo plates that you can easily customize, smaller starters/appetizers, and daily specials like Miki or Oxtail Soup. At around 6:30pm on a Friday night, there was a short line to order, and then I waited about 10 minutes for my food. We ordered their Shrimp and Char Siu Chow Fun ($17) and a Build Your Own Grindz Plate ($18+), which comes with two starches and two entrees. The chow fun was solid if not stellar: it was a generous portion of stir-fried noodles that were surprisingly not too oily (as opposed to Chinese-style chow fun, which is definitely a bit greasier) with tender shrimp and char siu. My Build Your Own Grindz plate consisted of a refreshing green salad with fresh vegetables and a tangy Asian-style dressing, and I opted for Chinese Roast Pork Belly and Chicharon (crispy pork belly) with Tomato & Onion as my two entrees. The Chinese Roast Pork Belly was succulent and fatty, with a lovely crispy top of crackly skin. The Chicharon maintained its crispiness despite sitting in an acidic tomato and onion sauce, and was sliced a bit thinner than the roast pork belly. Both entrees were absolutely delicious, and the Asian salad paired well with the fatty meats. The two of us were completely stuffed after our meals! In terms of price point, Da Soriano Grindz sits in a surprisingly affordable range: think $15-20 for a large entree - exactly where you'd expect for a beloved Maui food truck. You get generous portions and lots of local flair without the premium resort pricing, making it a great stop for breakfast, lunch, or a casual meal on the go. The focus here is simple: hearty, tasty food with aloha energy every time.

    Shrimp chow fun

Noodles are important in many cuisines around the world, for good reason: they're comforting, satisfying, easy to prepare (whether simple or fancy), and delicious. A favorite local noodle dish, chow fun, is one of my "barometer" items to order the first time I go to a place, because how well they make it can be a good indicator of their food quality overall. So when I was near Da Soriano Grindz at lunchtime the other day, I had to try their shrimp chow fun. It did not disappoint: noodles cooked perfectly, tender and flavorful shrimp and veggies, and a mouth watering sauce to complete the dish. It was one of those dishes you almost can't stop eating, but you kinda hate to finish it because then you won't have any more....till next time, that is! Their menu features a wide range of Filipino specialties as well as local faves. Service is prompt and friendly. There's a shaded seating area with plenty of space if you want to eat there, or you can take your treats to go. This small food truck pod can be easy to miss but you should definitely check it out.

BEST MEAL we've had on the island! Our group randomly stopped by and ordered the crunchy moco and that was truly the best decision we made the entire trip. The crunchy moco is made with a really delicious garlic rice and extra crispy pork belly. Definitely a creative twist on loco moco that makes it so much better! We also tried their spicy garlic shrimp, which is fried in a light batter and a delightful dish.

Originally based in Lahaina, Da Soriano Grindz relocated to Wailuku after the fires, then moved to Kahului at the Da Tambayan Corner food truck lot, which they proudly own and operate. They are one of my go-to spots at the food truck lot which has a variety of other options. Specializing in Filipino and local-style comfort food, their menu has plenty to choose from--and so far, everything I've tried has been pretty solid. If you have decision fatigue and can't decide, you can build your own grindz and pick two starches and two entrees of your choice. My personal favorite plate lunch? The marinated calamansi pork belly plate which comes with diced onions and tomatoes (a must!). It's perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with that zesty-salty-sweet flavor combo that keeps me coming back for more. I've also tried their garlic shrimp plate, which my son enjoyed (always a good sign), and the salmon dynamite, which truly hit the spot. It's a great option when you're in the mood for fish. Generous portions, flavorful sauces, and mac salad round out each plate. The food is consistently tasty, and the staff is friendly, which makes for a good experience during my visits. Whether you're already a fan of Filipino flavors or just looking to try something new, I'd definitely recommend giving Da Soriano Grindz a try.

We wanted to see if there was any Filipino food in Maui and this popped up in our search. We got the Adobo fried rice, pancit, and kare kare. Nothing out of the ordinary. No complaints! Food was good. Fairly priced. This is a food truck btw, and is parked with other food trucks that make this food hall area. very spacious for groups and families.

    HALO-HALO

My husband and I came here for the Halo Halo dessert and it was incredible. The dessert had so many different flavors and textures inside, including tapioca, taro, ube paste, shaved ice, evaporated milk, ube ice cream, and leche flan. The most fun part was trying to determine what flavors/items were in each layer of the dessert cup. The halo halo wasn't overly sweetened and was just the perfect blend of creamy and refreshing.

Had the most amazing Filipino food. This is one of the best garlic fried shrimp I've ever had.

Had the most amazing Pilipino food at a local food truck stop. This was the most unique flavored fried garlic shrimp I've ever had! It's a must try.

Glad to have a chance to visit their new spot in Kahului! Miss them on the westside but glad they're open again. This might be my favorite food truck park to date. It definitely has a vibe. Pic doesn't do it justice, it was way too sunny. But there are hanging flowers, table decorations and a selfie wall. Great spot! Parking can be tough if it's busy but definitely worth a stop in. Lots of shade in the seating area.

    PORK ADOBO
    Rebecca S.

As someone who is married to a Filipino, proud of the Filipino food I can make, and have had authentic Filipino food from family and the Philippines.... I can say... I never knew adobo could be that good. That was outstanding. The pancit was also great and our toddler ate it up. I did not care for the pork belly calamansi, but I look forward to going back and enjoying more items from their menu. We got this on our way to the airport on our way out. We are going back in a year and I think we will go here first (after our Costco trip of course!)

I finally got my partner to try Da Soriano Grindz... and he ended up going every single day until I told him to stop! That's how good it is! The food is packed with flavor, super satisfying, and honestly hard to resist once you get a taste. We'll definitely be seeing them regularly, maybe monthly, or let's be real... probably weekly! Highly recommend if you haven't tried them yet.

    Phil V.

Compared to other food in Maui like Da Kitchen or Tin Roof, this place is way better... I'll give it a 5 star given Maui's tame food scene - half pancit and half salad is must get. it gives the plate a well-rounded balance! - Kalbi has good flavor. Tasted fresh. - Garlic shrimp is non-traditional (it's lightly battered and deep fried fyi), but it was still good. - mochiko chicken. Was decent, not freshly fried - calamansi pork. Flavor wise was decent. But just know that this is sautéed pork belly slices, - it is not roasted or crispy pork. It's soft, not crunchy.

My plate with garlic shrimp, tortang talong, mac salad and green salad
    Kanani T.

Craving satisfied! I'd been wanting tortang talong but not wanting to make it myself lol. They have so many delicious options for plate entree choices. They're so nice and accommodating too! With my rice allergy, I'm always looking for places that have side dish options. I was able to get my plate with mac salad and a great green salad that came with so much jazz on top! I opted for the tortang talong and garlic shrimp and they were both so delicious! Perfectly cooked & seasoned nicely. They even offer a Kama'aina special on Tuesdays (please don't inquire about this special unless you are in fact local). They serve up food quickly and this food truck pod has a great covered seating area for you to enjoy your food! Don't forget to grab a halo halo for dessert!

Peeked their Instagram and saw a corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich. Say what? Less than 5 minutes later I was texting my order in. Unfortunately, no one actually ever answered my text (please don't tell people to text if you don't reply). Being impatient, I said screw it and just drove myself there to check. They are located in Kahului Industrial in the Ferguson's parking lot, across the way from Lee Bear's. It's a really, really random spot and parking could be a challenge if it gets busy. If it's slow, you could park right in front of the trailer. The family that runs this food trailer is born and raised in Guam and their menu features Chamorro cuisine like arrozcaldo, corn soup, etc. It didn't seem like it to me at first because everything was so so familiar to me, but my friend who was raised in Guam reminded me of how it's heavily Filipino influenced and mentioned that the grilled cheese sandwich was her childhood growing-up. No wonder (I'm Filipino)... Anywho, got my corned beef and egg grilled cheese sandwich! The corned beef isn't like your St. Patty's day corned beef, but more like the Palm brand canned corned beef. The bread was also slightly sweet and was the perfect vessel for all this deliciousness. The sandwich was so tasty and had the perfect amount of meat and cheese. Definitely a great way to start my morning and can't wait to have it again. My friend also recommended trying their corn soup & their red rice whenever it's available. Will definitely try those in the future too.

We have tried quite a few of the trucks and there were long lines and I was hungry so we drifted over to Kaipo's as they didn't have much of a line. Staff were ready for a laugh with us and we ordered the Shrimp Dynamite and the Rib Eye. They were quick to cook em up, just long enough for us to buy some pineapple lemonade from the stand next door (Wailemi). The food was MOUTH WATERINGLY GOOD. I cannot understand how they didn't have a long line!! People are missing out here! My Shrimp Dynamite was served in a small container, full of melty mushroomy goodness, with crunchy courgette, shrimp cooked to perfection and a creamy sauce on top. It wasn't as hot as I like, but I only deem something spicy when I can't feel the front of my face and steam is coming out of my ears so perhaps it is spicy enough for the general public. Nevertheless it was DROOLWORTHY, so good I had to share a single piece of courgette with my husband, but that was all he was getting! No more, Nada, nope. All mine! Hubbs didn't take long to demolish his with gusto, and he was 110% satisfied with dinner. Meat was cooked just right.
