It's super strong (just how I like it) and you can adjust the sweetness levels here. I like it more bitter so I get less sweet and it really cracks me tf out. I guess not all Da Vien locations are created equal. This was my first time visiting this location and the third Da Vien I've been to. I ordered a banana latte. The coffee itself was good and strong and with just the right amount of sweetness. However, the banana cream tasted off. The consistency wasn't as light and fluffy as the banana cream I've had at other Da Vien locations. It tasted more like banana pudding than cream. The service was really fast, though. The cafe was crowded, with three people ahead of me in line, but as soon as I placed my order, my latte was ready almost immediately. I've been cutting back on sugar lately, so I really needed the caffeine to wake me up today and considered this my cheat drink. Just had the most frustrating experience in the drive thru. As soon as we pulled up, the lady on the intercom screamed and greeted a coworker. We waited patiently for her to come back online lol. This is my go-to matcha spot whenever I out. It was only a 3 min walk away, had free Wi-Fi, and the ube matcha was unbelievably creamy, with a silky texture and the perfect balance of earthy matcha and sweet ube flavor. Every sip felt smooth and comforting, like a little boost that kept me focused through long study sessions. Had to take advantage of their BOGO coconut matcha deal from 2-4pm! We ordered on the app and our drinks were ready almost instantly as the staff had been preparing for the rush in customers due to the deal. My brother wanted to try Da Vien's new matcha because we both didn't really like their old recipe and was hoping to be impressed this time. We definitely were impressed! The marble drip wasn't too sweet and the sweet cream was just right. The strawberry oat matcha was well balanced if you didn't like the taste of straight up matcha. Early afternoon meet with fam before our home fellowship and was asked to pick a spot and this place popped up on my Yelp :) this place had the highest rated/most reviews in the area so figured it was worth a try and am so happy I picked this spot. The place is located in a huge Korean shopping center so def ample amount of parking. We ordered egg cream coffee and double matcha (matcha latte with matcha cream) both large because it's $1 more then the regular and didn't make sense not to 16oz vs 20oz lol. Our friends ordered ube matcha, ube cream coffee and Vietnamese coffee. The egg cream is really sweet but it complimented the dark Vietnamese coffee - sweet and bitter. I can tell the coffee is strong and am happy because I need it lol. Wife thinks the double matcha is fancy and delicious. She really liked the combination. Our friends loved their coffee but felt the Vietnamese coffee was a bit strong (I loved it lol) Overall: love the service! Marble Drip Coffee (7/10): The cream made the drink really thick, which wasn't what I expected. It wasn't bad, just heavier than I prefer. Personally, I think the einspanner latte is better, so I'd probably skip the marble drip next time. Matcha Einspanner (10/10): Got a large this time and it was just as good as other locations! They had a huge long line for pick ups, which is to be expected, but at least have multiple people announcing it. Typically, for these kinds of cafés I do expect the coffee to be a bit weaker and for the flavor to take over most of the taste. Davien genuinely moved the needle for Vietnamese culture in Orange County - that part is undeniable and worth celebrating. But the matcha foam coffee and ube coffee - my two ride-or-dies - have been tasting increasingly watered down since the expansion kicked into overdrive. The matcha foam is lighter, the coffee hits softer. These are not subtle changes. Fast expansion is a blessing and a quality control nightmare. Seems like both are happening simultaneously. Da Vien is a great vietnamese coffee spot that also has some crafty and tasty matcha drinks. Looking for a fruit tea? They've got that too. Blended drinks? Yup. I love their Einspanner drinks, mainly their Einspanner latte at 0% sweetness (the perfect level for that awesome vietnamese coffee taste while letting the Einspanner cream do its thing!) Their strawberry cream oat matcha is also a highlight of my trip today. Their prices are extremely fair, both drinks ended up being $12.50 (5.50 for Einspanner latte w/ oat, 7.00 for the matcha). The bathroom in the back requires a key that employees are always friendly about you asking. Drinks come out fairly quick if its not too busy. There is ample space to study and get work done here, with my only gripe about this being a phenomenal study space being the music. The music is a bit loud and distracting, but if you're coming with some noise cancelling headphones, no need to worry about it. I'd rate the drinks here an 8.5/10, and the space a 7/10. DaVien's matcha drinks are truly as good as they look! I enjoyed the light, creamy, and more umami flavor of the matcha. It did not have that vegetal flavor most people dislike. The color of the matcha itself is perfect which is already a green flag. Their cream tops are really what take the cake though, especially the banana one! DaVien quickly became one of my favorites given the quality of their drinks, the service, and the aesthetic of their space. At this location I've noticed there are some homeless people who walk in asking for money. I'm not sure how much that can be controlled but I've noticed some customers feels uncomfortable by it. I appreciate that they have free WiFi and have been able to comfortably study in their space on weekday mornings as it is not as busy during that time in comparison to the weekends. I wish they didn't have a $0.50 upcharge for oat milk but it's still pretty normal for that. read more
