We can't say enough amazing things about Dade County Food Group and their incredible team! Kenny, Brian, Chelsea, and Jade were so accommodating and patient from the start, working with us to make our vision come to life. Our tasting was fantastic, but I couldn't help wondering if the food would be just as good for over 100 guests--well, they delivered beyond our wildest expectations! As a serious foodie, I often find wedding food to be disappointing, but ours was the talk of the night! From the incredible steak skewers, honey chicken bites, and spring rolls to the carving station with skirt steak and chimichurri that I seriously could have bathed in, every dish was unforgettable. Even the chicken--usually a dry option at weddings--was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with a delicious sauce. The truffle mac n' cheese, cornbread, salads, and veggies were all outstanding too. Their staff was equally amazing. We hired Dade County Food Group to be our wedding food caterers for roughly 100 guests. It pains me to give them anything less than a five star review because obviously it's our wedding and we only want the best for our loved ones. And the main reason is because of our abysmal servers who were out-contracted by the Food Group, which I'll get to later. They had 3 other weddings on our day and it felt like our wedding was an afterthought in terms of finding us capable servers. First and foremost, Brian and his team are wonderful, hard-working people. I had no hesitation hiring them after going to the food tasting because the food tasted great and they are EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE in terms of catering to your specific requests. We made multiple requests and adjustments to Brian over the course of many months to account for the specific needs of our guests and it was never an issue. Overall, the planning experience with them went very smoothly. Food on our wedding day was great, we got many positive comments for people from all cultural backgrounds. I enjoyed it myself too but by the time I got my plate it was cold and could be also due to the slow service. Now onto the servers/overall service. It seemed like the servers who came spoke very little English (I got this from multiple out of town guest who did not speak Spanish), had no clue how things were supposed to be executed, and just overall seems very unenthusiastic and were more concerned about cleaning up plates and going home than doing a good job at our wedding. The most disappointing part (for me since I love desserts) was that our cake had two different flavors and only one was served to our guests. The plan was for each guest to have two pieces of cake. It was written on clearly on our menu and communicated with Brian. However, come wedding day and the cake is being served while everyone is dancing, and I'm walking around the dining table and I notice that there's only one piece on everyone's plate. I find one of the waiters myself and told him there must be a mistake because each guest was supposed to get two slices since our cake was two distinct flavors. One waiter ended up bringing the second flavor to our sweetheart table, but I basically couldn't believe myself when I saw him using his bare hands to adjust the cake on my plate. Needless to say, I didn't each much of it. Another thing that I personally experienced was that after our plates were cleared, new utensils were no where to be found. You'd think that someone from the service team would provide some type of direction or bring new utensils, or simply let you keep your old ones. This was definitely a barrier to getting more food. I could ramble on about feedback I heard from others, but I was not there for those instances. I do feel strongly that if Dade-County Food Group wants to showcase their talent in the best way possible, the servers they pick really need to be more carefully selected and informed about how to execute the dining plan. read more

When I was looking for a caterer I was overwhelmed at first. Luckily, I got in touch with Brian from Dade County Food Group. He who broke everything down to make it a much more enjoyable & stress free ordeal. I had seen first hand the scale of events Brian has been a part of catering for both celebrities & United States Presidents so I knew he was more than capable of bringing all my food ideas to fruition. Once we decided on the amount of people, a realistic budget & the types of food I liked & disliked we were quickly able to put together a menu. I even got to make a formal printout of the menu I could show to my friends who would be attending. These offerings would not only cater to the budget, but also to the taste buds while simultaneously complimenting the venue. We did a food tasting where I got to sample the dishes we discussed, tweak anything I liked or disliked so we could guarantee a successful menu for our big event. Let us start by saying that Brian, Kenny, and Jade are top-notch! Responsive to every email, friendly and professional. The food tasting was great and the taste and value of the food we chose (initially) were excellent! The guests at our daughter's wedding were raving about the food, the drinks, and the service and we will say that DCFG's staff of servers, waiters, waitresses, and bartenders were wonderful, friendly, and courteous. We received nothing but praise from our guests! This being said, we did experience troublesome issues with the quality of service and value for the money... Quality of service: Earlier in the afternoon Chef Cass informed me that the DCFG lead in charge that day was C******, someone with whom we had never worked. However, before our event, we were told by DCFG owner Brian and assistant Kenny that another DCFG member would be the lead for our event. Imagine our surprise when this turned out to be incorrect. It was not until after our event, via email, that I learned from Brian that two other leads were in fact in charge that afternoon/evening. Now, for us, this was a glaring oversight; this change in team leads should have been disclosed to us long before the event, and certainly, introductions made either over the phone or at least in person at the event! Therefore, when we encountered an issue whereby our guests were being served dinner in the dark, (and our wedding planner, EY Events, being totally ineffective by this time!) it turns out we were looking for, and complaining about this issue to the wrong DCFG lead person and thus the situation was not rectified to our satisfaction. In addition, hours earlier I noticed that the Welcome Drink Area set up for our guests had been left unattended and I unknowingly alerted the wrong DCFG lead. Whether this slowed the reaction time to have a DCFG staffer replace me at that stand, I do not know. But I managed this area myself for a time until a DCFG staffer eventually showed up. We passionately believe that had initial communication between the DCFG team leads and ourselves initialized, issues and communication between ourselves, the wedding planner, and DCFG leads would have been much smoother, leading to a 'less stressful' evening for all concerned. Value for the money: Late-night bites were contracted to be served to all our guests before the end of the evening, however, only the guests inside the dance area, nearest the kitchen, were served. Those guests sitting outside at the dining/bar area (me included) were never served. Equally disappointing was the premature disappearance that evening of the late-night Café Cart we contracted specifically for use by any 'tipsy' guests at the close of the event late that evening. Our guests were looking forward to a late-night colada or espresso before hitting the road! Scheduled and contracted as operational for 2 hours that evening, 9:45 P.M. - 11:45 P.M., DCFG staff had already removed the cart by 11:30 P.M. and packed it away. Therefore, the Café Carts' primary reason for being at the event that evening was nullified. Overall, our experience with DCFG was quite positive throughout the many months of prep time, and the fact that professionalism was the 'catch-phrase' always, the food was terrific and the value for all the food and staff services contracted for was particularly good. That said, we believe the lack of proper communication between DCFG management and ourselves, specifically where it concerns those in charge the day of the event, plus their inability to adhere to some of the specifics outlined in the contract as far food service times, areas of food service and adherence to detailed seating charts/floor plans has left a somewhat bitter taste in the mouth... so to speak. Therefore, be sure you know who will be in charge on the day of your event, that they are well-briefed on all the details of the expected contracted job at hand, and that you feel comfortable enough to be able to go to them for any issues at any time during your event. In this way, you may be able to avoid having things go awry. read more

Listen, if you're planning a wedding you already need to make a billion decisions. Make this easier on yourself and just book Brian and DCFG NOW. Brian was so flexible and attentive. We had a plated 2 course menu which we changed at least 3 times during the planning phases. Each time Brian took the notes and came back with more amazing options and ideas. We ended up going with an amazing bone-in short rib and a pan seared corvina with a sweet potato puree. He also helped us plan our rehearsal dinner which was an authentic paella with a kale Caesar salad. All of the plates at both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding were cleaned off by our guests. The food was all so amazing. Our guests were raving about how tasty everything was. They provided Mixologists at our bar and people also were raving about Gabriel and the awesome drinks he made. Not only did they do an amazing job on our signature drinks, but made other off-menu drinks on request. The service was also impeccble. Brian, Veronica, and their staff took amazing care of all the guests, the pacing of the meal was perfect and my wife and I were able to really relax and just have a great time at dinner. I recently attended a wedding catered by the Dade County Food Group, and boy did they deliver. The bride came up with a special menu to reflect the cultural heritages of the entire family... irish, puerto rican, spanish, etc. But Brian and his crew delivered! The brisket was melt in your mouth tender, and the coconut crusted chicken tenders were a great twist on a standard item. Brian was extremely helpful with not only planning the menu, but also planning the moving parts around food I would've missed. He was super respectful to my parents who initially gave some harsh critique about the food and gracefully changed things. He was a calming force amidst the chaos of me having to plan a wedding (I don't plan anything). The cherry on top was the food was EXCELLENT. As a wedding planner, I can't stress enough about having great food at your event. We met Brian with Dade County Food Group by chance at a rehearsal dinner for one of our day-of planning clients. The food was phenomenal, the team was excited and down-to-earth, and the prices were great. Everyone had a great time. Fast forward to planning my own wedding - we were having trouble finding the right fit for the tapas/cocktail style menu we wanted. I decided to go out on a limb and call Brian - six weeks before our wedding! - remembering how wonderful the rehearsal dinner had been. He was responsive, realistic, and worked with our budget to create the perfect menu. We attended a tasting where we were able to meet the Chefs and try a few of the menu items. When the wedding day arrived Dade County Food Group delivered big time! They set up on time, displayed our menu creatively, and knocked service out of the park! At one point I realized I hadn't eaten so I ran up to Brian and desperately exclaimed "food!". We had Chef Brian and Jose come and provided a passed hors d'oeuvres and buffet style dinner for 20. We gave them about a week's notice but they said 3 days would've been fine. 2 phone calls and a few back and forth emails finalizing a menu and it was done. We had full confidence in their capabilities because of their excellent reviews on both Yelp and Thumbtack. We are happy they were available on short notice. They worked with our budget and we knew we could count on them. From their photos they do events large and small and can make anything you desire. Though, I would stick with their suggestions. We chose tenderloin but in the end I wished we ordered their short ribs, the ones in the photos. As host of the party we ate after everyone else and the beef was not as warm and tasty as we had hoped. I'd also rethink anything fried as an appetizer, gets cold fast. The oysters Rockefeller were decadent and a crowd pleaser. We recommend them and would definitely like to have these personable and down to earth folks cater our next S. FL event. This year's party was 130 people and the reviews from the crowd were 100% positive. Our party was outside and it was threatening rain all day, so the set up was delayed. They showed up early to assist with setup! (tables, chairs, center pieces, etc) This is just an example of how they do whatever it takes to make the event memorable. Everything about the group is great - but I don't want to undersell the quality of the food. This is what ensures repeat use - This year's menu included Ceviche, Mini BLTs, Lollipop Chicken, Peruvian Beef Sliders, and more! I said it last year - if there was a 6th star I would give it! Here we have a team of highly talented, efficient and customer service oriented professionals. They seriously went above and beyond in catering my wedding and rehearsal dinner. I was an out of town bride and it was incredibly challenging to plan a wedding from a far but they made is seamless. They were responsive (and i mean phone, email and text) which is very hard to find in Miami. They made it very obvious to me that I was important to them and they took great pride in their work. And the food was delicious! I have been to very few weddings where the food is still remembered 6 months out and i can tell you i am very proud that the food dade county food group provided us with is still being talked about!
