I flew to Cleveland for a couple days for work and stopped into Dad's Smoke Shop. I called and asked if they had my favorite Opus X. After dinner with my client I took an Uber from Painesville to Cleveland. As Im driving I called the shop and told the shopkeeper I was on my way and that I would be there by 8:30. He informed me the shop closed at 8pm. I was bummed out but then I asked if he could stay open until i arrived. The man named Bob said he would stay open until I got there. I am GLAD HE DID! I ended up buying nearly a full box of the Opus X power rangers, 12 Super Bellicosos and a box of Eye of The Sharks! Then Bob gives me a gift, a nice Romeo & Julietta from 1998! I tell you this kind of business is what we need in San Francisco! I LOVE Cleveland and the People here as well as the small businesses. I plan on stopping by again the next time I am in town which will hopefully be this summer. This shop is awesome but what makes it awesome are the guys who run it! read more

Dad's is the best place to get anything tobacco within 20 miles. Other than that, there is Cousin's which is owned by the same guys. I still prefer Dad's though. The place is tidy with a great atmosphere. Its hard to leave without smoking first. The walls are lined with well stocked humidors and there is a full selection of pipes, pipe tobacco, humidors, accessories, unique cigarettes, and cloves. Prices range from a couple bucks to $30 sticks. And each one is great. The service is unbeatable so long as Chris is working (which is almost every day). This guy is great. He seems to have smoked everything in the shop, which is good or bad depending how you look at it. He can recommend the perfect smoke and he's a pleasure to talk to. Unfortunately, Dad's is no longer byob but its a great place to quickly stop in or hang out when you cant smoke outside. Though you may have to fight the regulars for a seat in the lounge. I don't know anything about cigars, but I wanted to get a gift for a friend. I stopped in to Dad's and was immediately greeted. After I told the gentleman what I needed but had no idea what to get, he assured me that 'this is what we do!'. He asked me what my budget was and was polite about helping me find a gift. He suggested some assortments and showed me what fit into my budget. I liked a gift that wasn't yet priced, so he called his supplier right away. The first couple of times I went in here I felt like was getting the skunk eye and trespassing on someone's territory, and begin a cigar amateur I felt totally intimidated and it kept me away, but that was 4 years ago. The last 2 times I went in this year with a purpose & questions, and they were very helpful and outgoing, with great suggestions for types of cigars I might like and made me feel welcome. Fairly decent collection of cigars. More importantly, a good lounge area with ok seating. If you're lucky enough to sit down in lounge area during a "caucus" discussion like I was, you will enjoy the cigar and the stimulating discussion amongst good natured "strangers". read more

Went in to just look around and was greeted by Bob. Told him I was new to cigars and asked him if he had Montecristos. He showed me those and made several other recommendations. I made some purchases and browsed around a bit. The Tribe was tied in the 18th inning trying to break the win streak. Next thing I know I'm sitting in a big comfy chair watching the game, talking baseball and bonding with the regulars. Nothing intimidating or unwelcoming in this place. That is to be expected anywhere you have guys sitting around, smoking cigars and shooting the breeze. However every time I've gone there (which averages about once a month) I've found both the staff and people sitting in the lounge to be quite friendly. read more

I had to fly to Cleveland last minute for a business trip. Due to flight schedules I had 5 hours to kill before I flew back home and I really wanted to have a smoke. This place was fairly close to the airport so I headed over with no expectations. This review will not do justice to this place no matter what I say. If you like me miss the original cigar shop feel, then go here. Their selection is amazingly diverse, they have their own house cigar, and they are not re banded bundles. Chris was the man running the show when I was there, and he knows his stuff. Not like the hired guns pushing the latest and greatest at the flashy joints. Chris being a class act aside, the guys in the lounge smoking were also as welcoming and friendly as anyone could ever want. This shop alone is the reason I hope I have to go back to Cleveland. read more
