All I said in my last 2 posts is I was disappointed in the university's speeches for the graduation that we attended a couple weeks ago. I feel politics has no place in a commencement speech. Parents are there to support their kids and watch them graduate. It is not up to the university to push its opinion on the attendees.

DANGEROUS CAMPUS!!!! NO POLICE PRESENCE at basketball game…read moreon 3/1/25!!!! Attended the basketball game with some friends. The place was packed!! Did not see any police maybe 1 officer? Saw what appeared to be security guards, but no police officers....not sure what's up with that? I thought Canisius University had a police department? Says online they have a police department at Canisius University. I saw some people that appeared to be security guards at the game, but there were only a few of them. There were a bunch of fights breaking out at the game and after...... and NO ONE HAD CONTROL of the situation! It was REALLY SCARY!!!! People were fighting, saw a door get ripped off a bathroom!!! NUTS.... I don't understand if people pay so much money to go to school here...where is the police department during a game when there are so many people and anything......LITERALLY ANYTHING could happen???!!! Heard from some friends that attend Canisius University that their entire police department has been leaving because of the Chief of Canisius's Police that got hired. Not sure if that is true or not, but I can tell you there was NO law-enforcement presence at the basketball game from a firsthand experience. I think I literally saw 1 Canisius University police officer. Pretty sad if it is true that Canisius would keep somebody like that leader of their Police Department in that position if that person is causing and driving all of the officers away from the university that are supposed to be protecting it? Makes no sense, right... Not sure who makes the decisions on brining in Police Chiefs, but I can tell you that I would not be paying to go to school there with that many problems if that is what's really going on because rumors are circulating all over the campus about it. Found all the details above out after talking to people at the game that go to the school. Anybody could've walked in there and there could've been a major problem. NO POLICE!!!!! I don't think I'm gonna be going back to anymore games there. The game was great, however I value my life!!!!

This is a very old campus and was outgrown in the 60-70s. Thats when they built the North Campus in the suburbs. Much larger and newer. Houses plenty of the schools, but not all. This campus features buildings built in the late 1800 and early 1900s. Old stone. Brick. Beautiful outside walkways. Huge hallways. Marble floors and stairs worn down by years of kids steps. The history here is deep and takes us back to a time when the school was not yet in the State system. It was founded by Millard Fillmore, who was then a local lawyer. He went on to be president. The school went on to be the largest in the NY State system. This campus still houses the schools of architecture and nursing. Future dentists go to class on this campus. There are plenty of students who live in this area and take busses between the campuses. On summer days you'll see students all around here on the lawns and benches. There are often lectures on this campus that are open to the public.

More recently, the campus has new outdoor spaces to attract people outside in warmer months. There is a UB Stampede bus, shuttle, and Metro Rail to connect this campus to UB North and UB downtown. Also, it's more affordable to live near this campus than the other two campuses. Many park on property when using the rail line. A couple downsides to the campus are the wind and spread of buildings. The wind can be a bit much at times because it's at the highest elevation in the city. This isn't to say much for a flat city, but it does matter when winds come off Lake Erie. I wish buildings were closer, so that walks wouldn't feel far. Maybe a small brew pub on campus would allow for libations to help foster that Live, Work, and Play feel of UB2020.

There's a whole department dedicated to it, and I earned a graduate certificate in creative problem solving and change leadership. A unique feature is the department's rich history connected to Alex Osborn, the inventor of brainstorming. The department recently collaborated with the Buffalo State library to add an exhibit and collaboration room. A definite cool added feature for those interested in the field of creativity and a true resource for the campus and local nonprofit community!

Nichols is actually called "Niggles" because I always seem to have some annoying niggling injuries…read morewhen I play a soccer game here, and I'll always associate it with niggling injuries even though it's an amazing facility. Nichols is probably the best place I have ever played football (soccer) in the Buffalo area. The field is perfect. Unfortunately I have a very poor record here... in finals, I've always been on the losing side. Then again I've always been on the massive underdog team in finals, and it's a miracle that those teams have even made it to the final game... but yes, never won a trophy here. Nevertheless, thoroughly appreciate the surface and the facilities. I won't mention the guy that took me out here on this field and severely damaged my ankle. On purpose. That kind of thing is hard to forgive but what can you do. That's life.

Tons of things are made here, including but not limited to maple sugar. As a very populated state, we have cities suburbs and rural communities across the state. We have lakes and mountains both. Part of the Appalachian Trail passes through New York state. What's not to love?

Seriously, located in the old Pierce Arrow Building (which houses many many things, BTW), on Great Arrow and Elmwood (across from Carriage Trade Pastries), is a ceramics studio. You can take classes here, which are small and offer personalized service. You will learn a lot in the six week beginner class. You will learn how to "throw clay", make a bowl or perhaps a mug, glaze it and actually use it! How cool is that? Already know how to throw a bowl? You can also join here and come as often as you like. Its a monthly membership I think, and you pay for firing of course. Clay is priced reasonably, the space is nice, all the tools are there. All thats missing is you.

You didn't even visit the center or have any experience with the staff or the facilities yet you're leaving a one star review because you couldn't manage to have the problem-solving skills to contact the owners. I know for a fact that the guys at Buffalo Clay art are not hard to reach. in fact one time I contacted them a few days before Christmas because I wanted some suggestions on which kind of pottery wheel to buy and they got back to me right away. I was shocked at such a quick response time on the most hectic day of the Christmas season . They had nothing to gain no funds to earn from answering my question. Again they are not hard to reach but some part of me is glad that Cherie wasn't able to reach them because she sounds like an ass. I guess that's how you become yelp elite by posting comments for businesses you don't have any real experience with. In terms of my experience with the actual business, because I've taken at least two classes there and several members of my friends and family have taken classes there I can say that buffalo clay art center is a wonderful place to learn about pottery the people that teach the classes are experts they truly love what they do and they are amazing at it I cannot suggest a better place to learn from!! Back in 1992-1996 during my time at Gow, many events like school battles in Triva, school plays, musicals, dances and sporting events happened at The Gow School which Buffalo Seminary took part in. Males that knew how to talk to women or got by on their looks might hook up with one of these outstanding ladies at a school dance or at The Galleria Mall. One of the most memorable times with Buffalo Seminary was a battle of wits triva.  One lady was just getting all the answers for her school.  I don't remember the outcome now, but I believe Buffalo Seminary won the game, but not by a lot. I also believe I was hand picked to do one of these types of challenges,  but backed out of fear.  Looking back I regret doing this.  I think of the words Buddy Revell said to Jerry Mitchell.  "You didn't even try...How does that feel?"...yes the quote was edited,  but if you have seen the movie Three O' Clock High, then you already know the whole quote.  Back in the day, I never got the chance to date one of these ladies, but I didn't know how to talk to women until my second dance my 9th grade year.  Confidence is the key word here and sitting on the steps of a dance room and not making a move for 2 hours can be very depressing.   I did not miss an opportunity the second time around.   If I got rejected, I moved onto the next woman at the dance.  Education  at its finest. Most women were happy to be asked to dance.   Buffalo Seminary is still The Gow School's Sister School, but now The Gow School is a co-ed school. One day maybe Buffalo Seminary will follow suit.

A nice holiday bazaar offering something for everyone. There are artists you will recognize from…read moreother markets and fairs around town. They also have a room full of goods made by the students. Some food, other bookmarks, other types of things. Then there is a room full of baskets that you can win in a Chinese auction. The baskets were awesome. Parking for Sem is street, and no handicapped parking area. The facility is not easy if stairs are difficult for you, but it's manageable. This is a nice Holiday Bazaar and well worth a stop if in the area. I took off a star because of the lack of handicapped parking. 2026
