I rarely post personal information on Facebook but tonight's culinary experience merits a mention. Dagim Restaurant in Great Neck was the most accommodating and pleasing restaurant I've ever been in. The owner, Tony, and and the hostess (so sorry I forgot your name) couldn't have been more charming, eager to please and in a most lovely environment The restaurant is spacious and elegant without being pretentious. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere, stylish lighting, and an overall cool inviting vibe. Management is clearly attentive and hands-on . the owner even came by our table to introduce himself, which was a wonderful. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the space. Our server, whom I'll refer to as R., did not enhance the dining experience. When dining out you hope to feel welcomed and taken care of and that element was missing . the service fell short of what the restaurant otherwise promises I had a Seabass with sautéed vegetables that was delicious. Calling all Pescatarian lovers, this is the spot for you. There's so many "fish" options on the menu both cooked and raw. They actually have a sushi station with two chefs at the helm. Overall dining experience was a 4 given the very attentive service. But I have to admit, too much staff at times made it a little confusing as to who does what. The 3 stars was for the food. I had much higher expectations since they have one speciality as noted in the name - fish! My friend and I shared the fried eggplant and Zucchini chips. Those were disappointing. The batter was light and the vegetables were under seasoned. The accompanying tzatziki sauce was too thick. We also ordered a cooked fish entree - sea bass. It appeared with two pieces but they were oddly small. Especially once the neighboring table ordered the same first and her plate was twice as big in proportion. The flavors were really good sand it's a must try but I have to wonder why the huge discrepancy in size per my neighbor. I ordered a tuna avocado roll just to try the sushi. I had it as an appetizer. It was okay but not unique. It was fresh so that's a good thing to note. And I ordered the fish and chips, why not? Not many places make a decent one so it was something interesting to try. The fries were the larger wide ones, of which they were not crispy enough. The fried fish was quite good but the sauce fell flat. Too creamy and not tart at all. I'd like to return to try other dishes but the menu has very little options outside of fish. The rest of the menu is pasta related, so not worth a mention. read more

Beautiful spot!!! Similar to Kyma, and Limani cuisine and atmosphere wise. Definitely an elegant and classy place. I recommend for a date night. I simply could not get enough of the chicken franchise! Easily the best bronzino I have ever had. They have vegan, vegetarian options and everything is all KOSHER. We celebrated our 35th anniversary at Dagim! Everything was great! We really enjoyed the well plated, delicious fish tacos, crispy rice with salmon (like a sushi roll) with jalapeno, & blackened tuna bites with avocado, and our huge delicious cocktails. The menu had plenty of appetizers and small plates, sushi, six tempting fish entrees, pastas, salads... so light or full meals are great options. Then they surprised us with two flutes of sparkling bubbly, as I mentioned it was our anniversary walking in. Class place! Not only do I have delicious meals when I go to Dagim, but the customer service is amazing. My wife lost her diamond earring in the busy crowd one night and we thought it would be gone forever. We called the next day and the owner told us it was found while cleaning. It's a trustworthy establishment that has appetizing food and a beautiful ambiance. Phenomenal, top notch seafood and sushi! Some of the best and most fresh fish I have ever had. The sushi fish was some of the highest quality sushi grade fish I have had. In addition to the excellent food the service was also incredible. From the moment you step foot in the restaurant you are greeted with so much hospitality. The servers are all very attentive to what you want/need. Back home in Los Angeles, we've heard rumors about this great new fresh fish restaurant called Dagim, just opened in Great Neck, NY. We decided to fly out to New York, and while there, to check out this place. It was worth the trip. The food is FRESH and GREAT. We LOVED every dish we ordered. The atmosphere is exciting, relaxing and pleasant. The superb background music is upbeat and enjoyable, in a volume which enables you to carry on a nice conversation around the table. The hosts (owners) are very friendly and hospitable. The staff are attentive and professional. Their prices are very reasonable. We had a great evening, and we will come back here soon. read more

just had the most amazing dinner, it's my third time there and it has been consistently great. I was concerned the other times we were there that it wasn't busy enough. I was excited to try this restaurant for the first time. The restaurant is a cool vibe, and the atmosphere is on point. I love the inside of the restaurant! However, we were super disappointed. I will say the restaurant was super busy, and it was clear they were understaffed. The staff was all very nice, but the service was pretty bad. It took 20 minutes to get a bottle of wine. We ordered a bottle of pinot noir, and when we ordered, we were told there was only one pinot noir option that was $55 (there was no wine list - this info was per our waitress). The bottle came, and when we googled it, it came up as a $12 bottle of wine, so it was super up charged. When our check came, which took another 20 minutes, the bottle listed on our receipt had a different name than the bottle at our table. We looked up the bottle on our receipt, and it was a $20 bottle, so we think they charged us for the wrong bottle, but it wasn't worth asking about this discrepancy because that would have taken another 20 minutes. The food was okay, nothing special. We got the cauliflower tempura, which was yummy. The crispy rice was mediocre. The red snapper was okay, as it tasted fishy, and the fish and chips were just okay as well. It took 20 minutes to order our food. We were there for over 2 hours, and it was very expensive. We went for Valentine's Day and they gave all the tables a complimentary v-day shot, which was a nice touch! I would maybe try it again, but it's worth a try if you want mediocre and pricey food at a place that has cool vibes. read more
