I have a love-hate relationship with Dagu. There are some things they do really well, and other things that need significant improvement. This time around I picked up some pork soup dumplings to fill a craving. My usual spot for dumplings was closed and pulling up here was a shot in the dark, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I definitely wasn't mad at the price ($10/10) compared to other spots. I can't firmly say they're specially made in-house from scratch or anything, but I could still rock with it. They even came with the traditional vinegar-based sauce (sorry for not knowing the name) that I usually don't like but actually ate this time because I seriously liked their version. I would say the noodles were just a litttle too mushy and overcooked. But the soup was so so good! Not too spicy or salty. It was the perfect balance. So let me just say this spot automatically and immediately has my attention because it's open until 5:00 in the morning. It is a true late night situation after you've been out all night. It's basically a pho soup type of spot. They bring you the soup itself and all the ingredients that it's kind of like a hotpot situation. You add the ingredients as you go. They bring your tray with everything on there and you at the different meats and vegetables to your liking. For the main course I got the sour and spicy soup and I added meatballs and lamb slices to it. I started with the crispy chicken as an appetizer And I added some Cajun fries just because. The fries were very well seasoned (you could see the seasoning on them), the chicken was really good and flavored very well. It did not come with a sauce to dip them in but they did have a good taste without it. The soup was good and had a good broth base. You are able to pick multiple broth types so you would need to go many times to try them all. But they give you the option to have all the ingredients in the soup or outside (so you can put it in yourself). Meatballs were not really seasoned but they were tender. The lamb and the beef was a little hard to tell the difference but both took the flavor of the broth anyway. This is probably going to be a staple for me as a late night spot because there are no spots that are open up that late. It's not super unhealthy because it's soup, but it is a lot of fried foods elsewhere. But if you've been drinking out in the club or the lounges, it may be something that's needed to help soak up some of that alcohol lol. We wanted some soup on a cold weekday and Dagu Rice Noodle was amazing! We usually get Pho but decided to try this instead. We ordered a Passion Fruit Tea and Super Fruit tea for our beverage and it was beautifully served and tasty not too sweet. For appetizers we ordered Salty Crispy Chicken and Mini Soup dumplings. It came out hot and fresh. The chicken although fried it was not greasy and very flavorful. The soup dumplings were perfect temp and texture with some dumpling sauce. A++ he asked if we wanted to cook our own soup and we decided to DIY. I ordered the Tomato Crossing the Bridge soup with lamb. It was tasty not spicy and it came with little condiments and mixing. I was impressed but i should have added some of the condiments on the table like the chili oil and soy for the extra punch. I really enjoyed my meal here. The service was wonderful as well. We started with a ton of appetizers. They came out fast enough and most of them were quite tasty. My favorite was the spicy cucumber dish. It had more heat than what I usually get and I loved it. The crispy salty chicken was the right mix of crunchy and juicy. I wish it had some kind of dipping sauce. I dipped it in the cucumber sauce and that was better. The serving size for both was good for what you pay for. The bread appetizer was also a pleasant surprise. It came with two pieces. My least favorite part of the meal was the cold noodle peanut dish. I just couldn't get into the texture. I think depending on what dish you order, it could be amazing, or it'll give you the feeling of wanting more (sliced brisket). Those are all good things, I think. What I ordered here was the rice noodle soup with the beef shank. I think just this order though it's enough meat. The soup is super flavorful, and when you get your bowl, it's super hot temperature wise. You get the option of having them combine everything (all the sides) or you doing it individually yourself. The sides come in the small little dishes. If you don't finish, and you do want to save the broth to keep it for a mix for leftovers it's possible to take it home. What can you do with this broth? Instead of stupid packets from instant ramen, take the ramen, plop it in the broth and let it cook (or cook it separately). It makes for a good second meal. But that option is completely up to you. We didn't try anything other than what Dagu was known for which is the Rice Noodle so I can't really comment on any of the other menu items. However, Dagu is a great rice noodle place. If you have been to Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodle, it's pretty much the same thing however I think Dagu has a more flavorful broth. read more

In terms of crossing bridge noodles, I prefer the broth at Ten Seconds. I do like that there are a variety of other dishes, drinks/ boba, and dessert here though. Music can be a bit load sometimes. Food/price: I've been to the 10 second noodle restaurant in the H-mart plaza in Doraville so I saw familiar items on the menu. Compared to 10 second, I think there is more variety in their appetizers and small plates (i.e. chicken katsu, whole fried crispy chicken, etc.) so if you want more to choose from this may be better. I do personally think that the soups are better at 10 second though, so to each their own with that. - Crispy chicken cutlet ($5.99): not very greasy and nicely fried. Tastes like they use dark meat for this because it wasn't dry at all. It comes with a dry blend of seasoning to dip in, overall enjoyed this! - Rice Noodle soup with Braised Bone in Beef ($14.99): comes in a hot bowl ready to eat. They had two big pieces of beef bones. The soup was a tiny bit salty for me but still good. - Sauteed Beef brisket rice with Chef's special sauce ($15.99): comes with a bowl of rice and a clay pot over a small stove that keeps the food nice and hot (which I loved!). The sauce was excellent (not super thick, almost soup like but still delicious). There were some pieces of tomatoe and daikon/radish that absorbed the sauce. The beef pieces did have a lot of fat and cartilage attached but there were a many pieces. I was definitely full. Overall, so happy I got to try this place finally. So delicious! This restaurant is located in the same shopping center as Quickly off Buford Hwy. It's where the former Indonesian restaurant Tempo use to be. Dagu Rice Noodle is an international chain of Chinese rice noodle soup restaurants. This location is the brand's first in Georgia. It opened in November 2020 on the Doraville-Chamblee border at Intown Plaza. This is the same plaza as Quickly. For those familiar with Buford Highway over the years, Dagu took over the spaces formerly occupied by Indonesian businesses Tempo Doeloe (restaurant) and Java Indonesian Foodmart: https://bit.ly/2U2DdcA. RIP. I was drawn to this place by its "Crossing the Bridge" Rice Noodle Soup. Its broth is made with pork bone, so it's cloudy white, similar to other Asian pork-based broths such as in Japanese and Korean cuisine. The noodles are described as "Crossing the Bridge" because of the story behind them. The story is written on the wall inside the dining room. The CliffsNotes version of the story: Over 100 years ago, in Yunnan province, China, a wife had to cross a bridge daily to deliver to her husband his favorite food: rice noodles. She found that separating the heated chicken broth, rice noodles, and other ingredients and assembling them at her husband's place made the meal taste best. This method became popular among locals and so the noodles were named "crossing-the-bridge" noodles in the wife's honor. The husband "succeeded in the royal examination" and became the "Number One Scholar." Thus, these noodles also got the name "Champion Rice Noodle." My wife, who is Chinese American, told me "Dagu" means "big bone" in Mandarin. "Da" is big and "gu" is bone. What drew me in to the Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle Soup is how it looked. Its presentation. It's basically deconstructed noodle soup. Is the presentation gimmicky? Yes. Is it fun? Yes. At Dagu, one order of Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle Soup consists of a bowl of boiling hot broth, a tray of meat and other ingredients, and a bowl of rice noodles. The bowl of hot broth is served in a special holder/insulator so you can move the bowl without burning your hands. The broth is served vigorously-boiling at about 300 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it calms down quickly. The broth holds its heat well and stays hot for a while. If you love hot soups, this is the place for you. Dagu's soups will definitely warm you up. The tray of ingredients looks meticulously-portioned. Each ingredient is served in a tiny tray. It reminds me banchan (Korean side dishes). I got B5. Sour & Spicy Flavored Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle Soup with Beef Slices ($11.99). The menu has helpful pictures of most of the dishes to help you decide what to order. I was told by our fantastic server, Helen, that the order to put your ingredients into the broth to cook is meat first, veggies second, noodles last. The menu says to wait 10-20 seconds for everything to cook. I waited a bit longer. These noodles could also be considered a preset single serving of Chinese hot pot. The beef slices were rolled-up like hot pot. My order came with five fatty slices, lettuce, corn, bamboo shoots, fishcake, scallion, quail egg, ham, imitation crab, pickled mustard greens, peanuts, mushrooms, and noodles. All of the ingredients were fresh and good quality. When combined and cooked, my bowl of noodles was hot, filling, delicious, and comforting. I really liked the broth. The fatty slices of beef made the broth that much richer. As a lover of spicy food, I found the spice level to be only mildly-spicy, but that was OK. I still enjoyed it. The spicy and sour flavors were reminiscent of kimchi-jjigae (kimchi stew), but much more subtle. I liked the noodle texture, soft and slippery. My wife got A7. Rice Noodle Soup with Bang Bang Chicken ($12.99). Again, a flavorful broth, deep yet light, with a lot of umami. The "Bang Bang Chicken" was bone-in and sliced with a chili sauce on top. Very good. We also tried several of the apps. To me, the most noteworthy one was E4. Sliced Beef in Sichuan Chili Sauce ($5.99). Tender, rich, and packed with flavor. E3. Salty Crispy Chicken ($4.99) was good as well. Pretty much your standard Taiwanese chicken nuggets (not spicy) that you can't go wrong with. E2. Spicy Duck Tongue ($6.99) was OK. I'm not sure I'd recommend it. The E11. Spicy Quail Eggs (6 for $4.99) were scrumptious. The eggs were marinated and had a pleasant, creamy consistency. Before I run out of room to write, I have to mention the drinks. We got the Strawberry Mermaid ($6.99) and Garden Oreo Milk Tea ($6.49) and our friend got the G4. This place was good. Amazing? Not quite. But still pretty good. The spicy duck tongue was interesting. I've never had it before so here I am trying it. I imagined it to be similar to beef's tongue or whatnot; I didn't think there would be a bone involved. I'm a lazy eater, so this is a one-time experience. For the amount of meat and chewing work to get to the meat, I'd say nah. The hubs then said it's like pig's feet where you'd have to work at getting to the little parts of meat. We also sampled our friend's sliced beef in Sichuan chili sauce. This was pretty good. The beef was thinly sliced and flavorful. It sat within the chili sauce so it was oily, but it was a good pick. We also tried some of his salty crispy chicken, which was a disappointment. It seemed like it was old chicken so they recycled it. The exterior was super crunchy, but not in a good way -- like it had been re-heated too many times. At one point, we both took a bite of the chicken and then slurped our broth just to soften it. I had the A1, which was the signature rice noodle soup with braised bone-in pork. The broth on this was more mild and plain. Man, that piece of bone was humongous! They also give a lot of broth so you can ask for an additional small bowl of noodles as a complimentary service. This pick is a safe bet if you're unsure of what to get. The hubs had the A8, which is the rice noodle soup with coconut red curry chicken. The broth of this soup was really tasty and flavorful. I'm not a fan of coconut nor curry, but I actually dig this broth as it had a punch of spice flavorings. A nice quick spot to eat tasty food! We didn't order the noodles however the other dishes are great! They are open decently late on Sundays and when we went it was pretty empty. We ordered the crispy chicken, the beef, egg rolls and the buns w condensed milk. Everything was great and inexpensive! You get a lot of food for a low price. My hubby and I came to this place on Valentine's Day, just because this is a Chinese restaurant we haven't explored yet. We had Chinese rice noodles before, such as crossing bridge rice noodle restaurants. When we get here at lunch time, there is no other customers, so we are served very quickly, btw, the seats are little cramped up, it will be hard for a bigger than normal person to squeeze in. But the food is very authentic, it is the best rice noodle I had in Atlanta. I have been to Yunnan province a few times back when I was still in China, I can say it is just as good as the rice noodles in Yunnan, and the price is very affordable too. Sorry I didn't take any pictures, I'm not used to take pictures of the food I eat , when I thought about it, my bowl was already half empty, so was my hubby's, so....... The place is small but there was plenty of seating. The decor is very Asian but looked very clean. I only saw female staff there. A couple of the staff did not speak very much English. But they were very friendly and accommodating. The food is very simple, but good. They have a selection of different soups you can choose from. They come in a clay insulated pot or a clay pot over a mini table top burner. They have a deconstructed soup where all the soup ingredients are presented in small sauce containers. Once your broth boil you empty all those ingredients into the pot to warm up and serve. It pretty much taste the same as the other soups, but it shows well on Instagram. I had the braised quail egg. It tasted pretty good but such a small appetizer. Pretty much a dollar an egg! The Taiwanese fried chicken was good, but there was more batter than chicken in the nuggets. The taste was still on point though. It had a slightly different aroma to it, almost as if they ate deep-fried in coconut oil. The side of lettuce is probably just for garnishing, but I put it in the soup and ate it too lol. Nothing goes wasted. read more

Was looking at new places to try on Buford Hwy and decided to stop by here with some friends. I ordered the A1. Signature Rice Noodle Soup with Braised Bone-in Pork - a popular Chinese noodle soup that my parents love. It came with a HUGE braised pork with bone, as well as a cup of noodles on the side to add to the broth. The broth had tons of flavor and the pork was also nice and tender. There were some veggies like cabbage in the soup and a small quail egg! It does come out boiling so be careful, but what's super cool is that all the bowls come with a plastic holder so you don't accidentally burn yourself if you need to move it around. A+ for innovation. We also got the E3. Salty Crispy Chicken ( 盐酥鸡), a popular Taiwanese side. There was a decent amount of chicken and was pretty decent, though I tend to like mine with some more spices and salt. The service was super quick and friendly, as well. Our waitress wore a mask the entire time. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves authentic Chinese noodle soups! I'll probably take my parents here next time. read more

Love their chicken wing lunch combo! The wings are super crispy and tender along with the seasoning they got makes it even better! My father got the ox bone rice noodle soup and my mother got the xiaolongbao. At first, we thought the rice noodle was a bit small in portion compared to the ten-second rice noodle place, but the volume of meat that it comes with makes it way more fulfilling than it seems. The xiaolongbao tastes fresh and flavorful. Will definitely visit again. read more

I came here to "test it out" and just get an appetizer and a drink. Noticed it's supposed to be open 24/7 so I've seen hit & miss on these types of spots. This place seems legit though! My GF got the pork bone broth with noodles and she enjoyed it. I got the spicy cucumber salad which was excellent! I stole some of her noodles to finish the sauce in salad! Delish! Tried the Matcha Slushy which came with whipped cream. Surprisingly a very matcha forward flavor and slightly sweet. Perfect! read more
