Dailys was good in the past but on 5/2/24 at 10pm a rough, heavy weight, short female manager was rude and bitter when I'd purchased a soda. The employees here last year were classic, attractive and caring about the store. Recently there's been a more mixed, odd ball new group. I hope they'll re-hire at this location. I spent a lot of money here and now will shop elsewhere.

I love the new and convenient location. I will write corporate tomorrow about the Cashiers, their attitudes, lack of knowledge in knowing how not to be able to count change back, they are always talking amongst theirselves every time I go in here which is often. It took Cashiers to tell a woman how to get to St. Augustine. I was thirsty and needed to pay for my drink and to pay for my gas and get home. The whole check out process should of inlay taken one minute or less took about five minutes and I had to prompt the Cashier the whole time. Wow, really? I wish I did not have to give a star at all. I always check my money, BEFORE I WALK AWAY. They do not give the proper amount change. It's sometimes a dollar off.

Finally a gas station in San Marco. Its at a really awesome spot too! The prices are a little higher than what I would like to pay. But I love the modern feel of the gas station. Its very large, has a nice selection of to-go foods, snacks and drinks. The staff were friendly and quick.

Ordered at the front counter and was greeted by a friendly young lady... good start. I went in planning to get the muffaleta off the specials board. They checked on it, but no luck... they were out of the cuts needed. I was pointed toward the Italian, but my buddy already grabbed that and I felt like being different. Noticed another special on the wall, a smoked brisket sandwich. Can't remember the exact name, but that's what I went with. Instead of chips or their homemade tots, I grabbed the balsamic roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Tables weren't the cleanest and were a little wobbly, but nothing deal-breaking... we made it work. Food came out pretty quick and looked solid. Flavor-wise... a little mixed. The brussel sprouts were very flaky and leafy, almost crumbled apart. You really had to work your fork to get a bite. I was picturing larger roasted halves. Sauce was fine, nothing bad, nothing special. I'd give those a 3 out of 5. The brisket sandwich was interesting. The meat was very fatty and kind of tough to chew through. Not sure if that's just the cut or the prep. I ate about three-quarters of it. It wasn't bad, just didn't hit the way I hoped. Probably still thinking about that muffaleta. Another 3 out of 5. I'd come back, no doubt... but next time I'm sticking with what they're known for. Those cheesesteaks always look great, and that's probably the move. Today was about trying something different, and I'm glad I did... even if it didn't knock my socks off.

This is one of those places that we love but haven't been to in far too long. We both tried things that were new to each of us tonight as well, which was cool. I ordered The Ole Smokie, with everything on it and choose cheddar cheese. My first thought when it was brought to the table was "oh, I'll probably have to go at this with a fork & knife" but I decided to give it a shot as intended. I'm glad I did because the bread held up surprisingly well! As far as ingredients go, the brisket was good and smokey. There was a good mix of everything else and more than enough cheddar. My wife ordered the Chicken Cheesesteak. She also had a choice of cheese and she picked whizz. The thing that separates this from what people might expect is that it's chunks of chicken, not shredded chicken. She said that's not a bad thing at all, just a change from what some might exoect. She thought it was a welcome change. She liked their cheese whizz a lot and liked the roll as always, so she was glad she tried it. It's worth noting that both sandwiches were big enough that we both took half of each home. I didn't get the name of the two people that were working there this evening, but I'd still like to give then a shout out. They were both incredibly patient with the customers ahead of us and they didn't make us feel rushed even though we were there fairly close to the time they close on Friday evenings. Another good visit to Clarke Bros. Here's hoping it doesn't take us so long to get back here again for the next visit!

But Jax Bread is probably the best you're going to get in Jacksonville. And it's excellent on its own merits. I ordered the lox bagel and it hit all the right notes: a perfectly chewy bagel, super fresh toppings, and the ideal cream cheese-to-bagel ratio (which matters more than people realize). Everything tasted fresh and was thoughtfully put together (more proper ratios). The service is always lovely, and I've genuinely never had anything here that wasn't delicious. This visit, I also grabbed the day-old mystery 3-pack of bagels so I could carb out a few more times this week. They're just as tasty, freeze beautifully, and at $2.99 it's an unbeatable deal. My son and I have been trying restaurants in this area and this was next on our list. Store was very clean, as I said before service was outstanding. Here's a list of the food we tried: Drink stand - not many selections, but they do have Coke products. Sweet tea - they have not perfected the taste of Southern sweet tea, but it was fine French fries - crisp crunchy exterior soft, interior, really well done. . Egg salad sandwich - it was just an egg salad sandwich, no better no worse than others, just fine . European Gyro - this was a normally euro stuff with french fries, it was a cool look in the dish was good. Overall, I wanted to love this place, and it was fine. But that's all it was was fine, they played it safe, they didn't try to spice up their menu or give you a number of unique specials. They just serve decent food at what I thought was a high price. For instance, my egg salad sandwich, and I'm an egg salad, lover, Fair but it was $13 without many side drink or chips. Most places, including Tidbits, which is one of their competitors, is less than $5. But I have to say they five other restaurants in this strip center, including the powerhouse Mexican food at El Castillo, Donato's Pizza, Mad o' Seafood, a Latino restaurant and Açaí Bowls. So if you're going to compete with these other restaurants, I think you need to go above and beyond. Maybe highlight Middle Eastern dishes, maybe makes egg salad with some curry powder, and don't charge so much for just plain sandwiches. I don't have any qualms about going back, but I also don't have anything to draw me back. That special dish or that special thing. And that seem to be the theme with the other people that came in. This was a first time visit for a lot of people , and a regular crowd just wasn't there. Maybe that is telling.
