Really good for a fast food restaurant. Quality food, service, and quick and easy. (Along side the really good ice cream selection)

The food is good, but overpriced. The crinkle cut fries are the bomb.com AND you can ask for them without salt/seasoning. But for the kinda fast food burger/hot dog/snacky food you get, it's not cheap. The ice cream is also expensive and it's nothing special. I don't understand the appeal, but I think a lot of it has to do with the nostalgic factor for the kind of crowds they draw. read more

I ordered a medium cup of soft serve vanilla ice cream with chocolate sprinkles. I counted 14 sprinkles on a half a cup of ice cream. There was no need for the dome lid, the ice cream didn't come up past the cup rim. Unbelievable for the price! Not going to King anymore. read more

First time I came here I had a cheeseburger, chocolate shake and fries. It was really really good remind me of the place called Braum's back in Oklahoma. This time I had two hot dogs french fries and chocolate peanut butter shake. Hot dogs were pretty good but not as good as Coney Islander but the shake was amazing! Exceptional. It is located in a strange area, that is, a modern building in a rural neighborhood near old downtown. We were strictly there for dessert. We didn't see the dessert menu and then realized there was another counter in the back that was not readily visible when you walk in. The servers were pleasant and helpful. The sundaes and shakes were made with care and the place has a retro feel to it. It has a pretty extensive menu in the front including burgers, dogs, chicken, fish and even pitas. I eat at the Stanleyville Dari-O on University quite often but this is my first time at the original location in King. First thing is the burger. I have heard it said that the food here is better than the other locations. I almost always get the Monster Burger and didn't notice any difference. The fries were the same too. Of course the ice cream was the same. The only differences are the dining area is more open and not quite as big as Stanleyville. The patio areas are spread out with party pavilions. The kids that work here may not be as perky as they are at the other locations but this is King. Folks in King are not in a hurry and are very laid back. They just spent a busy day at the cigarette factory and all they want is a good meal. Dari-O may have had some consistency problems during the expansion a few years ago but I think they are beyond that now. Come here for good southern fast food and bring the family. read more

We go to the Dairi-o fairly frequently. This location isn't were we normally go. After today's visit not sure I would rush back to this location. Glad the one close to the house is so good. I had a dipped cone, can't tell you the last time I had one. I have to say the customer service was just not there. Seemed like a lot of high school kids, and they just didn't seem to care. My kids went through the line, and sat down. I went through and asked for a dipped cone. She asked what I wanted, and I asked what my options were. I took vanilla with butterscotch. As I stood eating I see this dark brown color on my ice cream. I ask is that butterscotch? She looked down and threw it away. She said she typically only does chocolate and was on auto pilot. She dipped my cone again. The first time it was dipped at least twice. This time once. I paid, but the first total was just for me, so I said what about my kids ice cream, she said oh I forgot. So as I walk to my table the ice cream is starting to squirt out the sides of the dip. Pretty sure if it was dipped a second time this wouldn't happen. read more

The girl at the front cashier was SO RUDE. As someone who works in the food industry, I have never seen someone act that way. It was almost as if we had seriously offended her in someway. While in the area yesterday, I wanted to visit this attraction of a giant milkshake, so we stopped by. We took personal photos in the front, and then we just had to go inside to get some. They give you the usual choices of flavors, we choose vanilla, and then we were asked if we wanted hard or soft ice cream. I've never been asked that before, so we ordered hard, which cost a little more. I don't know the price, hubby paid, but I believe it was reasonable, under $10 for two. We went to sit and wait for our order and behind the order desk is an open area where you can watch the workers cook and prepare foods. It appears to be fast food like. We didn't try any. We came for the milkshakes and we left with the thickest, creamiest, most delicious shakes we both ever had. It took a while till the ice cream melted enough to drink it out of the straw, but it was worth the wait. I wish we were hungry at the time to taste the food, but I took away a star because we didn't taste it, and it appeared very fast food-like. I will have to return and re-review. There are no Dairi-O restaurants in our area, so on our next trip in the area we will stop back. read more

My family loves dairio!!! We will eat at either location but our favorite is this one in king...we actually drive right by the one in rural hall just to come to this one!! The staff is welcoming and friendly!! The restuarant is always clean as well as the bathrooms...which is important!! Everything on the menu is good but the hotdogs and fries are to die for!! The King Dari-O is a bit hit-or-miss for me. The chicken and rice soup is consistently savory, but will have too much salt for some. It also has chunks of potato with the rice, which I thought was a bit unusual. The grilled cheese sandwich that comes with the soup is grilled without butter; it was dry when I tried to eat it before the soup, but was soggy when I ate it after the soup. The hamburger that my fiance ordered was average; better than Wendy's, but not as good as Cook Out. On one visit, we ordered soft serve. The ice cream is delivered from an outside company, so it was fine, but the service was lacking. The young ladies that were behind the counter were without smiles or pleasantries. I felt they wished I'd stay away so they could clean up and go home. Service is much better through the drive through, but I can't recommend the dine-in experience. read more

Chickie wanted a dog yesterday so we went here. I used to come here when it was a little building with a few tables out front. Now it looks like Mega Burger or something. But they have it going on here. You order up front and read the paper until your order is ready. Two hot dogs, one fry and one soda for less than six bucks. They toast the buns here. The physical set-up and decor is different from any other fast food restaurant I've ever seen. It is a cross between something from the Jetson's and Happy Days. The staff definitely was NOT friendly and rushed us along even after I mentioned it was our first time there. I ordered two kids meals and then ordered a buffalo wing combo for myself with cheese fries. The fries were disgusting. I don't know if the cheese was bad or if the fries were made in old oil but I ended up throwing them out. The sauce/seasoning on the wings was gross. I won't be back to dairi-o. read more

Great desserts! I usually get the brownie sundae and it's awesome!! It is really big though, so you can probably share comfortably. I only wish they put slightly more fudge on it! It seems like the brownie drowns in ice cream and whip cream but the fudge is limited. read more

Great hotdogs with toasted buns, chili and slaw. Great ice cream. It used to be a place to drive up and walk up to the window place. Now you walk through the huge cup shaped entrance to the 50's theme restaurant. It is a fun place to eat with burgers, fries, salads and more. Stop on in and enjoy. read more
