My husband and I came here after spending the evening at Oval beach! They were accepting cash only which made our options slim but they had a wide variety of things to choose from and lots of fresh ice cream! They aren't open a season but this year they open March 15th. Always nice to have a local soft serve ice cream joint in town. They don't serve food all night I think the sign said they stop at 7:30pm. I got a medium vanilla cone and it was exactly what I was looking for. Dairy Daze has a really good selection of frozen treats. If you can't find something you like here, then you just don't like ice cream lol. One of these days I'll try the food. Staff have always been friendly and polite. This place is always crowded, especially during peak tourist season. Prices are reasonable and the serving sizes are good. And speaking of serving sizes, I made the mistake of ordering the large waffle cone. It was absolutely enormous. And it was covered in rainbow sprinkles. Everyone was staring at it and laughing. The Older lady yelled at him and said it was his fault he took the order she gave him. He came back to the car upset. I went and asked to speak to a manager. My family stops here every time we get on and off the nearby highway. The ice cream here is top notch! Coming from Chicago I appreciate their great prices and generous portions. I order for 6 people and each order is different and they have never messed up our order. The line moves very fast and employees are also very polite. My kids love the Dole whip , they get the swirl and always some kind of dip . They also have frozen yogurt and ice cream. The waffle cones /bowls look great as well as flavor burst! Super sweet (pun intended) ice cream shop just outside of downtown Saugatuck. They have some hand dipped ice cream to choose from but the real star for me was the soft serve! It's simple but so good. Vanilla or chocolate only but they're great. So light and sweet, and, if you're feeling frisky, you can get a flavor boost which infuses some additional flavors via swirl into the mix. They have everything from fruity flavors like strawberry and orange to cotton candy and mocha and it just adds a little extra to an already great soft serve. HUGE portions too. Just grab some extra napkins bc on a hot day that soft serve melts real fast! They have a walk up window on the side or you can go inside as well. Seems like most folks go to the walk up window but we didn't see it at first so we walked inside, which was actually good b/c we were the only ones in there and we got to ask some questions about their menu. Outside is a huge courtyard with picnic and patio tables and benches to lounge on. So nice! Great ambiance, cheap tasty ice cream, and fun flavors. Stopped in tonight with some friends and an older lady who was working the counter demonstrated the worst customer service I have ever experienced. She was yelling out the window at the customers for not being quick to grab their ice cream, complaining about having to remake a wrong order and finding any reason at all to throw a fit. All of us customers were in shock and ended up just having to laugh it off. I don't know what her problem is, but it made me sick to my stomach the way she was talking to people. I fought the urge to send my order back and ask for a full refund for being verbally assaulted for just trying to have some ice cream. read more

The only thing that puzzled me/angered me is that when I was reading the slushie menu of flavored they had one listed as 'suicide'. My jaw hung open. Suicide? How is suicide a flavor? Is it supposed to be funny? I'm sure the wouldn't have 'cancer' or 'diabetes' listed as favors (even though they have enough sugar on the menu to give someone diabetes, so I guess it could be ironically appropriate. But it wouldn't be, just as suicide has no place on an ice cream store menu. The ladies who worked there were very nice, I don't blame them for this, but it should be changed. It's not summer (or a summer-like day in early fall) if one doesn't stop at Dairy Dayz for a cone. Portions are so generous that I challenge you to finish it before it drips down your wrist, if you're eating at one of their outside seating options. They offer both soft serve and several hand-dipped flavors, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Country Dairy's Nutty Java Moo (coffee ice cream with chocolate almonds) in a waffle cone. I love that that they are serving ice cream from a Michigan business (Country Dairy) that has been owned and operated by the same family for 4 generations. My husband enjoyed his soft serve chocolate/vanilla twist in a waffle cone and thanks to our decades of happily married life, we were both willing to share with one another. We just finished our dune ride at Saugatuck and were looking for an ice cream place. On our way we had noticed this ice cream parlor so thought we'd give it a try. Little did we know that that little place would turn out to be such a gem. We stopped by after a short hike in the Saugatuck Dunes State park. The portion sizes here are huge! A small is definitely very large. I've always been a fan of dairy days and of course like to support local businesses especially during times like these. However today I had an experience that will prevent me from returning anytime soon. I tried to call and order for pick up as I was on a tight schedule and would be passing by the restaurant on my way to work. I was told that they are far too busy to accept carry out orders. During these times, where we do not have the ability to dine in at restaurants I find it hard to believe that dairy days would turn down Call in/pick up business. It's an adorable little stand on the highway with a limited selection (about 15 flavors plus soft serve) of very good ice cream. It might not have the decadence of flavor of nearby legend Kilwin's, but we enjoyed what we got - a super sweet birthday cake waffle cone and a mint chip-raspberry chip yogurt split single scoop. Why a split single scoop, you ask? When I tried to order a $4 double, I was warned it would be "nearly a point of ice cream." My wife could not come close to finishing her "small" waffle cone. Cute little ice cream stand down the street from Saugatuck Dune Ride. After buying our tickets for the dune ride we drove, but I recommend walking because it's really close. We weren't sure how close it was so we drove to make sure we got back in time for our dune ride.
