I haven't been to a DQ in decades for more than a Blizzard or cone. Stopped here since I had a coupon while on a business trip nearby & was delightfully surprised by the whole experience. Ordered the burger/fry combo from the coupon & the person at the counter was attentive, helpful & accommodating to a person on the road even making sure that I got a reasonable beverage refill for the road. The burger was BEYOND expectations for the price with every pickle & tomato being expertly placed to hit every bite. Like what?!? It's a DQ!! Fries were plentiful. The presentation, taste, treatment as a customer & overall experience made a lunch on the road perfectly satisfying & memorable. As a person in leadership--a great crew exemplifying company values. I drove for hours and needed some sweets so I stopped at Dairy Queen because it always is my favorite treat. Got a milkshake. It tasted like chemicals. I am in Madras for my daughter's Softball tournament and i have to say I have NEVER had to wait in a drive through line so long in my 40 years of life . After about ten minutes just waiting to order I was having second thoughts about this idea. Place the order and wait another ten minutes till we get to the window. Ordered 2 banana slits from the drive up window. There were 3 cars in front of us, got to the window, paid and received our splits.. drove a block down the road and parked in the shade to eat, took the kids off and all the ice cream and whip had completely melted.. we basically had soup... they should make any ice cream treats when you get to the window not when you order.... Very busy Dairy Queen! We came for an ice cream treat and hoped for it to be quick. The down side was the wait for service. The employees on staff all were hustling and trying to keep up with the lines of people inside and at the drive through. What a scenic Dairy Queen. For a location in madras it's pretty well ventilated. I don't really compliment the service but it was really impressive. The food was actually made the way I wanted it to be. I find it odd when they try to prove the blizzard sticks upside down. Beautiful staff and respectful manners. Keep it up! read more

Such horrible customer service! I was a walk up customer. I ordered six double cheeseburgers. I tried to tip the lady taking the order because I know times are tough, she refused. I had to cancel my order, eight vehicles pulled through before I asked for a refund. Then the refund process took so long that I had to open the door and ask what was taking so long. I'm puzzled by the negative reviews here. This is the easily best spot in Madras for a to-go burger. In fact, if I want a better burger than DQ, I'll drive to Redmond or Bend. Service can be a tad slow here and there, but that's because all the locals know DQ is the place to eat. And I haven't confirmed this myself, but I'm told they source their meat locally--perhaps that's why I swing by a couple times a month for a burger. read more

Rude staff - I stopped here on my way home from work for a treat. I had just moved here and had just completed my first week at my new job.i don't yet have a car so I was walking home when I passed this place. I went inside and ordered a hot fudge Sunday with extra fudge and redskin peanuts. The cashier and Sunday maker I think Steven was his name pretty much was focused on upselling to some promotion and became angry when I declined. He actually made an audible scoff when I declined to buy whatever he was selling. He then made my Sunday with minimal hot fudge and peanuts despite charging me for the upgrade. Time I have ever gone there. I asked for a bacon burger with no cheese, and no onions. They gave me a cheeseburger with onions. They asked me if I wanted ketchup or fry sauce. I told them ketchup.
