Flavie was a wonderful guide, with excellent English and a natural ability to keep the tour engaging and personal. She answered every question thoughtfully and shaped the day around what we actually wanted to see, which made it feel far less like a packaged tour and more like exploring with someone who genuinely knew the area. For the value, it's hard to beat. If you're spending time in Normandy and want something memorable that goes beyond the standard stops, this is exactly that kind of experience.

Leaving at 09:30 in the morning, check in and passport control was easy and quick, although being there 1 hour ahead of time is a bit early. The boat left early and arrived early in Jersey in slightly over an hour. The same on the way back, leaving at 19:00. Only downside there was the 1.5 hours check in time.

The home is up-to-date yet in a 300 year old farm home. The establishment has been a Bed and Breakfast for 30 plus years. Bernadette made our trip so special. Each morning we woke to a special breakfast and loved the homemade apple sauce, bread with homemade jams and preserves. Our room and the home was wonderful, clean, quite and very restful. Access to a community kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, cook-top and sink was a welcome addition. Our room overlooking the back garden had more than enough room for the two of us and the private bathroom and shower, although small, was wonderful. The outside had lawn chairs and a back garden area that was enjoyed on sunny days. We do not speak French and Bernadette speaks very little English but it did not impact our stay with Google Translate being our best friend. Bernadette suggested some great restaurants in the area and sites to visit. Highly recommended and we would love to visit again. Very good value. June 2019

This 9am departing ferry takes about an hour to reach overpriced Jersey, which is described as a…read morechannel island yet it's not in the channel but the St Michel bay. It was mostly a smooth return crossing. The seating aboard is just about comfortable, but you'll discover that the crew unhelpfully 'block' the exit door as you alight to go ashore with passenger luggage. The heaviest workload is by two almost pleasant staff selling booze & tobacco. If you are on a day trip you can purchase on the outward and they hold it for your return. Be very careful about returning as the published departure was 6pm but ours departed a full 20 minutes early (despite going late that morning). The crew had insisted to us as we left the boat that we check in that evening by 5pm so they clearly plan to get home early. As it was we got there about 5:20pm and we were the last. The boat departed about 5 minutes after we boarded. There's lots of free parking at the harbour area, but nothing else at the peninsula and the nearest town is quite small - it would take under 10 minutes to walk around it. The ferry itself is not disabled or child in pram friendly in fact it's very far from it. The building you depart from is barely comfortable with few facilities and organisationally haphazard with queues for tickets, security and customs. Having done it once that's it. We learned while in Jersey that its tourism trade has fallen dramatically from real highs in the 1980's but it's so expensive for everything so it ain't rocket science to remedy the problem but we also found that despite the plethora of politicians 'in charge' there's no political will to do so. Seems banking and insurance are more important.

But at night it means that all youngsters still come and go to the beaches and they do this never quietly, unfortunately. So find a camp-spot away from the beach-entrance. Furthermore it is a nice campsite, nice swimming-pool to cool down, spacious camp-spots, proper toilet-blocks. And village around the corner for your shoppings.

I was traveling to Paris from the States for a conference and had some time before to visit Normandy. Flew into CDG the morning of check in and drove 4.5 hour. My arrival at Ferme de Franqueville was very welcoming. Jean-Louis wasn't there at the time but his partner dropped what she was doing and showed me around and answered my questions. Needless to say it was a long day, and I was very pleased with finding to so easily. Note: If you navigate via your smartphone, data can be iffy traveling the countryside. Be sure that you don't turn off your phone and lose your map. Otherwise you may have to travel back to town or village to pick it up again. At night the hedge road country side all looks the same. I didn't use much of the common area but it looked clean. I spent three nights, and would love to return. The area is full of history from D-Day, museums, battle fields, and Utah Beach.

However, if you're on a break it's nicer to have something a little more secluded. Overall, the hotel is probably better for the fine dining experience as the food is top notch. As for the rooms, they are very comfortable but it's the lack of attention to detail that let's the hotel down. I certainly don't expect to pay 5* prices and find marks on the walls or dirty cushions on the garden deck chairs. Overall, I was underwhelmed, whichbis a shame as with a little more effort it could be so much better.
