This hotel's impressive website gives an impression that I'm afraid the hotel fails to confirm. In fact it's an average good-quality middle-of-the-road pub B&B. With perhaps that all-too-common problem of small hotels these days good overall service marred by lack of attention to those smaller details. But with so many well-below average establishments around these days the Dalgarven is certainly reasonable value for money. My room was comfortable, but with sparse fittings that had distinctly seen better days. There was peeling paint in the otherwise spotless shower. Good friendly bar. Food was very good served in a dining area which must be lovely on summer days. The staff are polite and attentive. A major plus point although above a pub, my room was very quiet wish I could say the same about so many other pub B&Bs. If you're looking for the Hilton, you won't find it here. If you want a good night's sleep without breaking the bank, you should be happy enough. In fact, if you can pick up a deal from one of the late booking agencies you may well wonder how they do it for the price. read more
