You'll have a view of the factory floor equipment and the workers working. A company employee will share the process with you, discuss the different equipment and how items get sorted. He has a large screen television that allows him to zoom into different cameras around the facility giving you a closeup of what's happening on the floor. Some of the surprising facts I learned here: (1) 30% of what is received here ends up in the landfill (2) This is a fortune 500 company. (3) They have contracts to do the recycling for over 20 cities in the DFW metroplex. (4) Nothing smaller than the palm of your hand can get recycled. In fact, those items often jam the machines. Leave on caps of plastic bottles and jugs. (5) Make sure items are Empty, Clean, and Dry. Food and liquid will spoil an entire batch of recycling and send it to the landfill, so do NOT put pizza boxes with food or oils, or bottles with liquid or food into your recycling bin. Put them in the trash. (6) No need to sort glass by color. All glass goes to one of their contracted partners for recycling. (7) Keep items loose and please separate attached items that are non recyclable. For instance, boxes covered in tape or cereal boxes with the plastic bag inside will go to the landfill. (8) Do not put these items in the recycling bin: mixed material items like toys and garden hoses. (9) Find alternative recycling companies for things like shredded paper, electronic waste, clothing, plastic grocery bags, etc. (10) This company only accepts plastic items with recycling numbers 1, 2, and 5. My request for an estimate resulted in a misunderstanding with the owner Mark Schneider, and my initial interaction with Junkluggers of Collin County was a rough start. However, Mark worked through the misunderstanding, and he was very apologetic and quickly rectified the matter. He gave me a very competitive quote, and I enjoyed chatting with him when he came out to price the job. Communication was very clear ahead of and on the day of the job. The team of Jeff and Martin arrived promptly; and they worked quickly finishing in only 1 hour, which was half the estimated time. They were professional and respectful of my property, and they made sure I was happy with the work before they left. I asked them to move a heavy sofa bed into a bedroom; it was a very tight fit, which resulted in some damage to the door trim. To their credit, they were very honest and pointed out the damage to me. I believe that they had taken reasonable care and that given the narrow entry, it was likely unavoidable. In sum, I had the same excellent experience with Junkluggers of Collin County that I had with Junkluggers in CT, and I look forward to using their services in the future.
