The lobby got very crowded and chaotic at 11, with people confused about where the lines were to get a number, where to pay, and where to wait until they call you to sit down. Overall the food is similar to Kome, but there's no porridge station. They made it a teppenyaki (you have to use salt, they don't season it). I love that there's a huge beverage self service area. And fridge with individual containers of ice cream. My family enjoyed it a lot, especially cause we've missed having a buffet close by. read more

Even though they don't close until 9:30, it seemed like they weren't restocking most of the dishes and everything felt like left overs at that point which made it unappetizing. They eventually did restock a few items, but for the majority it was just whatever was left remaining. We started off at the sushi station. The quality of the sushi and the ingredients they used were very low quality. You can't expect much from a buffet, however, the quality was definitely not worth $40/per person. The meat that they had for the noodle stations looked like they were left out for a while so I didn't even want to try it. I had some of the seafood (crab legs, shrimp) and both were just as bad. You can tell they used shrimp that had been dead for a while because of the texture. They had a good variety of bottled drinks to pick from, but most of the fountain drinks were also out of stock. Buffets are literally hit or miss.. mostly misses.. this place was average. It wasn't great or bad. There was two of us and we went at 11:30ish and it was already super busy. It was super loud too. I wanted to come try it out for myself and see if it's any good. They literally sat us right by the exit and it was really awkward since people were standing by our table waiting to be seated. There was a group waiting to be seated and someone that actually asked us if we could spare them a chair in the middle of us eating. I found that quite annoying and rude. The sushi was not as bad as thought it would be but the rice didn't taste fresh but at least the fish did. The rest of the food selection wasn't as much as I thought it would be. Some foods were okay and most were pretty bland. The beverage station I did like and they had individual ice cream and the fruits and dessert were a good and fresh. Daly Buffet has been open for barely a week but there is a lot to improve on. TL;DR: everything tastes like nothing. It's close to eating hospital food. But first, the experience upon entering. It was about 2pm when we arrived and the lobby waiting area was nothing short of CHAOTIC on a Monday. No clear lines, no signage, just a sea of people standing around. We eventually learned we had to grab a number from the hosts, state our party size, they'd call it when ready, and we pre-pay. Had it not been for my fiance whose large imposing scowling stature made it easy to part the sea and reach the host, we would've been waiting forever. Bonus points if you have one of those. About 30 min passed and we were ushered into a huge central dining hall, with buffet stations along the walls and sushi/dessert toward the back. Tables are very close together to maximize headcount. Zero ambiance, unless bright lights and loud crowds are your thing. Lunch buffet stations offer standard Asian fare, from fried items, noodles, soup, sushi (dinner starts at 5pm and offers crab). However, many items often ran empty and were not regularly refilled. We sampled almost everything and noticed that every single item BARELY HAD ANY TASTE. It's shocking. Spicy pork, steaming soup broth, chow mein, fried shrimp, even ice cream: NO TASTE. To make things even more frustrating, serving staff do not speak clear English so it was extremely hard to communicate. No one knows what a spoon is, so plan to hoard a handful before sitting down. We left still hungry and disappointed to have spent $61 (including 8% service fee) for a lunch that could've been better spent and enjoyed at Panda Express; at least their food registers on the taste buds. The Japanese side is nowhere near as good as it was when this place was called Number One Seafood, or before that, when it was Kome. Just nowhere near as good. No tuna when I went through. No mackerel -- how is that even possible? No sashimi, of course. Very disappointing, given the price. I ended up having some rolls and various other items from the Japanese side. Some of the rolls were decent. Two had hard rice. The Chinese food options were better, but I didn't come for that. I can only eat one plate of food because of my diet (I'm a tagalong for others who go two or three rounds), and I really want to make that one plate count. So when the food I came for isn't up to basic standard, it's a letdown. If you're coming here to strap a food bag to your face like a horse, you'll probably have a great time. There was a line for Malatang that looked good, and I might go for that next time if I ever have to return. But mostly, I left disappointed. Service was good. Staff were friendly. We got seated quickly because we arrived a little early. Now, the ambiance. The ambiance was a waking nightmare. The seating and tables hadn't changed, but the management, in an act of cultural vandalism, had decided to unleash Christian country music over the speakers -- loud, relentless, and inescapable. This wasn't background music; this was auditory colonization. Who does this? Who inflicts God's Country by Blake Shelton on unsuspecting diners and still sleeps at night? I didn't come here to get baptized by banjo. I would rather hear alley cats in heat being slowly run over by a unicycle. I would rather be wedged between a colicky baby and an adult man eating boiled eggs with his hands on a 14-hour flight. I would rather have a leaf blower duct-taped to my bedroom window and set to eternal damnation mode every Sunday at dawn. I would rather be trapped in an elevator with someone watching TikToks while describing them out loud in real time through a mouthful of shrimp cocktail. I would rather be waterboarded with the spit of someone chewing Cool Ranch Doritos during a silent retreat. Food poisoning. I barely made it home from the restaurant and thank goodness we aren't that far away. I am only starting to feel better now, 4.5 hours later. Honestly it could have been anything there. We went a little after it opened. Everything looked good and seemed fresh but you never know. It could be as simple as dirty hands from someone else touching everything. It was one of the most expensive buffets I've ever been to. But they do have a lot of variety and appear to go the extra effort to get the food right unlike other buffets that just throw something out to fill you up. Still given the price, I wouldn't be able to eat enough to get my money's worth. I would only go back if they start making it a point to increase awareness about food borne illness and norovirus. They've got to have hand sanitizer at every station and at the entrance and make people use it. Or give people gloves. They don't realize how difficult it is to grab some of the food especially at the dim sum station with those crappy tongs. It is also too far to grab for short people. It's good to have a buffet in the area again ever since Kome used to occupy the space, but a few things one must consider before going: 1. Instead of waiters serving you drinks, you grab whatever drinks you like (yes, that includes water). They have soda, bottled soft drinks and many others. But here's the part(s) where it becomes interesting: you can't take any of the unopened drinks with you when you go. If you take a drink from the fridge, drink only half of it and try to leave with it, the workers will stop you at the door and take the drink away from you. (kind of like one is not allowed to take food out of the buffet) (You should see how many they confiscate in one day). If you try taking a unopened beverage out the door, they will give you a look and take it away from you. Only drink what you can drink and don't be that person that takes 5 drinks per round. 2. For those that drive, there's a parking lot right next to the buffet and there's no charge to park there for your duration of your buffet lunch/dinner/etc. Read the signs carefully as some spots are reserved for law enforcement only. For those the bus, the San Francisco 28 and 54 lines stops a reasonable distance from the location and I believe SamTrans stops nearby as well, but not sure which line. 3. For people that's planning to bring a birthday person, a minimum of 4 people (including the birthday person) must be present in order for the birthday person to receive a free meal. If the 4 person group can't make it on the birthday day, the group can go 3 days before or 3 days after. Please make sure the birthday person brings their proof of ID when doing so. 4. Plan ahead. Before you step into the buffet, please make sure you have what you need. There are no in and out privileges so make sure. 5. For the expensive seafood, there's a person behind the counter passing them out. Only one serving per person. Overall? Its good to have a buffet in Daly City again, but the buffet can definitely do better in letting customers know what's not allowed since a lot of areas are still vague. I'll still be coming back to the buffet and only be eating what I can per round ;) read more

The dinner is priced at $39.99 (with a 10% discount for seniors) which is well worth it. If it's your birthday and have at least 4 in your party, your dinner is free. Their custard steamed desserts are the best since they are served hot, moist, and delicious! The venue has been updated so there are more walls and contemporary touches compared to when it was Kome. Parking next door is free. The staff was good at picking up dirty plates so it justifies the 8% gratuity fixed fee. Lunch is $26 up through 2:30 pm and might be better suited for light eaters. read more

I love buffets and really wanted to like this spot. I came for lunch on a Monday. It was $64 for 2 ppl. No tip needed. Very speedy service to get seated. The food.... just wasn't good. With the exception of the dimsum, none of the hot food was holding hot at all. No chance it was 135 degrees and above. All the meat was luke warm. I tried everything on my plate but didn't finish any of it. The noodle station looked decent but I didn't try it. I was looking forward to the sushi... and that wasn't good either. The rice was too sticky and almost a Lil spongey? None of the fish had any flavor. The best part of the buffet is drink station! Compare with the old kome buffet. There are couple things diners need to know. Malatan: only lamb no beef. Soup base doesn't taste like a real bone broth. Sushi: I haven't been eating sushi like this bad for a long time. Flavor was bland and some Fish nigiri still tastes frozen. Desserts: Not as much as it used to be for Kome. Dimsum: Over steamed. Skin felt right off from the Shrimp dumpling when I picked it up with the tong.... The old Kome. Couldn't miss it more. At least Dim sum, you steam it right. We got seated quickly on a Saturday. Our party of 10 arrived at 5 p.m. There were not many people; however, when we got to our table, people sitting behind us wouldn't push their seats in a little more for us to get to our table. It started to get busy at 7 p.m. The food needs to improve. I hope the managers taste test everything. I ate two different types of fish, and the smell was very fishy. The second fish I tasted was rubbery. Next, I had the worker at the BBQ area cook my short ribs. The poor guy didn't have any PPE when cooking close to that big grill--no goggles, not even a vent--and his eyes looked watery and red. Anyway, my BBQ meat came out uncooked, so I brought out my keychain meat thermometer, and you don't want to know the internal temp. I wanted coffee with the dessert, but it was out of service. I enjoyed the sushi, fried rice, and honey butter shrimp, but the duck was cold. If I'm paying this much for a buffet, at least step up in the taste of the food. Give this place a generous four stars. Standard buffet fare with a large variety of food, sashimi, sushi, Chinese deli , decent shellfish offerings, soups , dim sum ,deserts , fruits. Drinks included in price, serve yourself. They ration abalone, clam soup and some other offerings. This is a good place if you're a big eater or enjoy AYCE since this is practically the only edible buffet in SF and peninsula. It's comparable to the previous buffets at this spot, Todai and Kome. On weekends, there's a significant amount of patrons but filling your plate is easy. The front desk staff gals are pleasant and helpful. People book birthday gatherings here so can be pockets of festivities which is nice to see. Finally, the quality of all the ingredients is average so if your taste buds are refined, you'll notice.
