I usually like Damon's. We sat in the bar 20 minutes and no one would even bus our table. We complained and then were seated in the dining room. There we literally waited 20 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. My mother wanted to speak with a manager, but there were none to be found...the ribs I ordered were terrible.... burnt. But if I sent them back it would have taken another hour. Save your money and go somewhere where they actually care about the customers. read more

To be completely honest, if I had the option to rate this restaurant 0 Stars instead of 1 I would've in a heart beat. Not only are the staff rude, but purposely avoided our party so we wouldn't be served. I LOVE the food here, the food alone would get five stars, however one has to be taken away for the overall service. Not our waitress's service, but the overall service of the restaurant. We were sat at 6:45, we ordered food at 7:00, we didn't receive our food until 7:50. When we did receive the food our sides were cold. It also took forever to get our check. Again, I don't think this was our waitress's fault. She remembered everything and was very friendly. I noticed everyone else on the restaurant waiting just as long as we were. It seems that they are understaffed and over capacity for their kitchen. With that out of the way, I would say, do not go here without getting the ribs and sweet potatoe casserole. This is a great spot! Located directly oceanfront, this restaurant has great views and outdoor seating, however can be quite hot in the summer months. Even sitting indoors you are able to take advantage of the great views since most of the restaurant has floor to ceiling windows. It has a casual feel and is family friendly and offers crayons and coloring for the kiddies (which is always a plus in my book)! They are known for their ribs, and they are fantastic. I usually do not like to order ribs out because of the messiness, but I must have them here. The BBQ chicken as well as the steak are good choices too. As most restaurants in Myrtle Beach, it can become very crowded during the usual dinner hours, but they have a great outdoor bar area, sometimes with entertainment, that seems to make the wait time go by quickly. We eat here a few times each season because someone in our large group has a birthday every few months and we all can get behind a free meal for our birthdays. As mentioned in previous reviews, they have the saltiest french onion soup I have ever been unlucky enough to try. Every single time... Last visit, one of the gals got the sausage and cheese dip appetizer and the two of us that shared were 'actually' sick for the next 24 hours (as in violently retching). I don't know if it was just too rich or if it was legitimate food poisoning. Their onion loaf always tastes pretty good- but it's heavy on the grease, so beware. Location is superb, and we can even walk there on the beach from the State Park if the tide is low enough at the slough to cross (right next to Damon's)- if it's not, we have to walk up to Springmaid resort and walk around from the front side. My post is primarily about the lack of concern at this restaurant. As my family were waiting to be seated, I stood up against the wall. You had to do this since so many people waiting which is to be expected during summer tourist season. But whats not expected is to get scraped by a pointy nail sticking slightly out of the wall. I am not looking for anything but just to express my annoyance that i never even received an apology. I took my scraped bleeding hand to the hostess stand to ask for a bandage and to inform them to prevent others from getting hurt. They provided a bandage and I went back to my party in the same area. While standing waiting the manager came out to hammer the nail into the wall. That fixed it from others but what she didn't do was even apologize. I was right there and she acted like it was a bother for her to have had an issue like that. She looked at me rolled her eyes and walked away. That burned me bc I at least deserved an acknowledgment that it happened not a look of annoyance. This happened july 29 2021 around 5pm. read more

I'm currently sitting at Damon's the waitress wasn't attentive at all. We waited about 15 mins for 5 waters and a pina coloda.. most places bring the waters and wait for the drink from the bar. When the food finally came it it wasn't hot it was warm. We asked for hot sauce and napkins and the server never bring them we actually went to the hostess. Then come to find out the cup was extremely dirty. The manager came out and said he was taking something off the bill and when we looked at the bill when it came back nothing had been taken off. Beautiful view, friendly staff, delicious food. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice meal oceanfront. We have ate here twice, first time I got the steak and ribs, both were excellent, (some of the best ribs I've ever ate). Arrived before dinner rush, was seated and served very quickly. Waiter was very good, he knew what we needed before we needed it. Decided to go again. Arrived right at dinner rush, waited 30+ to get a seat and another 20-30 min to get our food. Ordered different this time. I tried the cheeseburger. It was ok at best. Service was slower (it was busy) but waitress forgot requested items a couple of times. Again it was busy. Nice view of the ocean and beach! Drinks are watered down and the food, although very good and very fresh, was not cooked to specification. When questioned about the watered down drinks the waitress went into some dissertation about the drunk driving laws in South Carolina. I appreciate the concern! But; did appreciate, when the manager Doug himself, brought my next drink, saying: "I made it myself, and added a little more!" Hopefully no extra charge for the two little black flies floating around in it?! read more

I visited Damon's on Thursday July 7th. It's my favourite restaurant and I miss having it back home so when I visit in Myrtle Beach I have high expectations. Once again... I WAS NOT LET DOWN!! Merrill is the best waiter I have ever seen in the restaurant service business! If I had $100 on me he would have gotten it all. The food was amazing as always. Sweet Potato Casserole is to die for as usual. As many times as I have visited Damon's I had never had the ribs. The ribs were great and full of flavor. The wait was a bit long but the wait was worth it when you have Merrill as your waiter. Merrill was the best. Again... Did I say Merrill was the best!!! read more

My sister and I got a table quickly. Enjoyed looking at the beach through the windows covered in splats of bird poop. Our waiter had no personality. He didn't write anything down. So obviously many mistakes. Should have known when table next to us got their appetizer after their entrees and they refused it. We should have left. Especially then when my Peach Tea cocktail definitely had no alcohol in it Our garlic knots starter came with no dipping sauce as advertised. Our entrees came before our salads. One of the entrees came with wrong side. My potato was room temperature. Had to ask twice for our salads. Then my sister had wrong dressing. Took forever to bring the correct dressing. No one ever refilled our water. Had to repeatedly ask for extra napkins - my sister was eating ribs - should have automatically brought extras. I gave two stars because my prime rib did taste good. Great food, and service! We go every time we are here for vacation. I always order shrimp, and it's better than the local seafood buffet.

Even though its obviously a rib place for some reason I decided to go with the fish n chips and they were way to greasy and made me sick. And I NEVER get sick from food; I am a guy and I eat like a lineman. But I did have to give it three stars just because it was such a nice place and the service was good. They have beach view tables which are really nice and breezy. It wasn't the most kid-friendly place. At least not that evening since a college fraternity had rented out a section of the place and we could barely here ourselves talk over their crazy noise. Not sure if I'd try it again. First off, I believe it is important to state that our waiter appeared to be drunk the entire night. Alright, so I never made it past the bar area, so I will not be reviewing any food. Damon's is a huge restaurant right on the beach. It was a great escape from the sun while the rest of the family played on the beach. The bar area has high ceilings and great open, airy views. A couple of flatscreens and a jukebox that had great tunes. Came twice for the Bloody Mary's (with huge olives and pepperoncinis). The bartender the first day was a super friendly relocale from Syracuse who made a mean Lava Flow (pina colada with strawberry). I also give them points for carrying Sam Adams Rebel IPA, which is a very "daring" beer to carry. read more
