I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my second child. My doctor advised me to steer clear of sweets, so I did and the inevitable happened: I lost 10 pounds (Yes, while I was pregnant). After I gave birth, I wanted still to limit my daily intake of sugar so that I can keep the weight loss. But how can I do that if my mother keeps stocking our ref with my favorite flavors of Dan Eric's Grand Ice Cream?
Yes, I've been cheating on my diet with this cheap but delicious ice cream. My mother buys it from an outlet store near the wet market outside of our village (they don't do franchises, they have retailers instead). It's so cheap (almost half the price of the other brands) that she can afford to buy a gallon every week. The Cheese flavor is my kryptonite; it's less cheesy than its more popular competitors, but it's really creamy with just the right sweetness. If it's any consolation, Dan Eric's Ice Cream is not as sweet as those we buy from big supermarkets, so in a way I'm still eating less sugar (I keep telling myself that).
It's great for parties because they have it in individual cups (3 oz, 4 oz, 6 oz) to a gallon. read more
