My kid was the one whose nerves almost kept them from going on stage that first year and now, age 8, they are not only doing competition dance but also has the confidence and courage to be apart of a musical. It's truly incredible the work Miss Siri does to build up character and confidence in these dancers starting from a young age. On top of that, GLAD has become like a second family for my child. As someone who grew up in the dance world, I know how important these friendships are. I am so GLAD that we found this studio as I know my child is developing lifelong friendships. I wasn't really sure what to…read moreexpect..I was a previous competitive dancer in jazz, ballet, lyrical, etc., but had never really touched ballroom aside from a bit of swing dance in college. We did 6 lessons prior to our wedding and learned some of the basics of rumba and swing. After the wedding, we decided we wanted to continue and have been ever since. When you start out, you get a little bit of an intro to each of the dances and then narrow it down to your four favorites to move forward with. We chose rumba, tango, cha cha, and swing. Most do weekly lessons and then there are practice parties weekly to every other week where you can dance with other students in a social setting. After some time passes, you get to know a lot of the other students. The community is incredibly supportive and welcoming. Not long after beginning our post-wedding curriculum, we even performed a choreographed piece for the studio's showcase, which was incredibly fun. We have been happy from day one. Melissa, the owner, has a wonderful disposition and truly cares about her dancers. All of the teachers have been wonderful... And I really feel like this school is challenging my daughter to be a better dancer. Further, they take dance seriously here. Dancers are expected to behave appropriately in class... At our former dance school it was not uncommon to see the girls misbehaving with the teachers not doing anything about it. The teachers here demand respect and the girls follow through, while having fun at the same time. I'm also pleased with how the school does at dance competitions... The teams tend to rate on the higher side consistently... And they work hard to get there. If you're looking for a dance school for your child, I highly recommend the Dance Connection in Rosemount.

I was there about 10 minutes when my 5 year old came to me with tears in her eyes saying the teacher told her she can't be there on Tuesdays and has to come on Mondays. I had to interrupt the two young women who were talking about their day at the front desk to ask what was going on, and they informed me that we signed up for Monday evenings. I said no we have other commitments on Mondays and basically was told, sorry nothing we can do for you. So THEY put the wrong night down and now I have a crying 5 year old that was told to leave class, when it wasn't even her fault. Then they told me that my daughter was there on Monday evening, and showed me the class roster and her name was checked off. She was in a different city taking swimming lessons at the time they said she was there. So for a positive, safe environment that is being talked about in the main page and website, they are pencil whipping the attendance, so they actually have no idea what kids are there or not. As I said we have been spending our money there for 2 years, and now they can't or won't try to fix their mistake. The owner was too busy to come and talk to me when asked to speak to one of them, and I was told they would contact us the following day. Do not trust this place, do not trust them with your child's safety. There are a ton of other better options in the area. Some of the instructors are great, but some are just kids themselves that do not teach the kids anything. Instead of making sure the child was having the best experience possible, they made her feel singled out and like she did something wrong, and trying to explain to a 5 year old that she didn't do anything wrong but was still told to leave class in front of all the other kids is just embarrassing for her. On the bright side, we went to the competitor and were able to sign up for less, and at a more convenient location in a nicer facility.

I really liked the school and the instructors but the distance from the suburbs to St. Paul proved to be too far for continued attendance. Jump to 30 years later and I am finally putting dance shoes back on to take adult beginner dance classes. I am huffing and puffing by the end of class but I don't mind since I had such a great time!
