    Pad Kee Mao
    Dan V.

Walked around the San Gabriel mission and stumbled upon this spot. Run by such a lovely couple, very homey feels here. I went with one of my favs pad kee mao with chicken and asked for medium spicy. And ya it was def Thai spicy because it hurt so good. I would love to come back and to try among other things their papaya salad and boat noodle.

Since I was in the area dropping someone off and I was hungry for dinner I decided to stop by and try some Thai food. The interior is very small but I was able to get a table to myself. I ordered my favorite Thai dish which is chicken Pad Thai. According to the menu they serve, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese food. The one item itself was enough to fill me up so for under 20 dollars you can have a fulfilling meal. The noodles were really good and fresh tasting but I should have requested a chili salsa to spice it up to my taste.

    Mango sticky rice

We came for their mango sticky rice. They have a kiosk at the front where you can place your own order. At first, we ordered it wrong since we clicked the sweet sticky rice ($6.95). We didn't see the mango sticky rice option but the owner/lady told us after we already paid for it. So we had to pay another $10 to add the mango which worked out in the end. The mango sticky rice was pretty good. There is condensed milk over the sticky rice, and the sweetness was just right. The mangoes were just ripe (slightly unripe at parts) but still good overall. The four of us shared two plates. The storefront is pretty casual and small. You get your own water and napkins at a table on the side.

Pad Thai and Chicken Mussaman Curry

Dancing Spoons had long been on my list of places to try... years even! I finally had a chance to try it with a few friends, and I had their Chicken Mussaman Curry and tried my friend's Pad Thai, too. These are some classic staples that I enjoy. Service was relatively quick since it was a quieter time of the day. The Chicen Mussaman Curry was easily on the sweeter side, and there wasn't much of a kick. The portion sizing was good, and everything tasted as expected - sweetness tolerable. However, I looked across the table and to my dismay my friend's Pad Thai was half eaten - not a single thread of interest to to-go it, either. Shocked, I asked if I could finish it; I hate wasting food. A bite in, I realized that this was indeed way too sweet. The chef that day must've had heavy hands! Food aside, the interior is quite small and cozy. From tables to chairs, it's hard not to bump elbows or legs. Water was self-service, and it was very well lit and decorated. There were also a few spots available outside, but being the middle of summer, those tables were left unoccupied.

I wish that there were more indoor seats but otherwise, it is a small, comfy place to have lunch! Service was quick, but then again, my friend and I were the only ones at the time. I did appreciate the friendliness of the staff and the water cups and utensils available! I enjoyed my chicken pad Thai! It's a big portion but I somehow managed to finish it all. I felt that the ratio of all the ingredients was just right for me.

Gotta get a mango ice pop!

They changed their interior a little bit. Made a little station where people can grab utensils. I ordered the crab rangoons, and still by far, my favorite, and miso soup. The soup was not what I was expecting. It was too hot to drink, so I took it home.

A great lunch spot - got the Spicy Basil Chicken for $10. Great prices for a hearty meal, good portion, service was quick. There's a kiosk to self order. There's a restroom down the hall of the other door. A few tables in and outdoors, mostly for a small party.

I've been to this restaurant at least 10 times every time I'm near this area. Every single time my food is delicious, I've tried several plates. I personally love the pad see ew with a side of Thai tea. The portions are quite filling and they have an excellent happy hour menu.

Dancings Spoons had my heart dancing! From the service to the food, warm and delicious. Friendly staff, delicious food, tasty, good portion (we did take out and they do not chimp). The ambience is warm and inviting. They have a good selection of Thai favorites and the pad see ew is some of the best I've had in a long time. I've tried both the chicken and beef and both really good. The crab rangoons are amazing especially paired with the sauce it comes with. Located in the Mission District, with minimal parking on a busy street. Be careful reversing, cars come quickly around the bend. My son and I like this place so much we have had it 2 days in a row and then a few days later. It's that good! So glad we have a good Thai place in the hood since Thai Paradise closed. I recommend! Bon appetit!

$17 fried rice with chicken wings

This has been on my bookmarks for a while to try since I work nearby. I thought it was interesting that they serve both Thai and Japanese food. I got an order of the fried rice and I thought it was decent. The portions are enough for two meals or two people to share. The food was good. I have no complaints. The food definitely checked the box of "wok hei" when it comes to fried rice. I could see myself coming back to try other items. I really like that they have beef pad see ew on the menu without any additional up charge. The food took about 10-15 mins after we ordered to come out so if you're in a rush, be prepared to wait. Otherwise, they have online ordering too. The lady who took our order was kinda rough on the edges. I don't think she means any harm by it but that's just her as a person.

    Shrimp khao soi
    Camille R.

I love khao soi. There are alot of places to get it in the Long Beach area but not many places in the 626. When I heard there was a place by the San Gabriel Mission that sold it, since I was nearby, I had to come and try. I've been here before specifically for the mango sticky rice, but now it was for the khao soi. I was greeted and was told I could choose from 4 different proteins for the dish. I've had it with chicken, but I wanted to try it with shrimp this time. The dining area is relatively small. 3 tables, a drinks fridge, and an ice cream trunk. My khao soi was brought out to me and I noticed the shrimp weren't just bare, they put a slight batter on them to give a little crisp texture which I liked. That first sip hit me with that khao soi flavor I know and love. The noodles were thin for this location, almost instant ramen thin. The other places, they used slightly thicker...but I noticed I didn't get full as fast here...the thickness is probably why. I loved how they put a split hard-boiled egg in there! Eggs are always awesome. It also had the traditional chopped shallots and pickled greens. Could of done without the sprinkle of cilantro on top, but that's just my personal preference. All in all, I would love to have this again, especially since I wouldn't have to take any freeways to get here like I would in Long Beach!

    Happy hour! (June 2025)
    Amanda S.

Food is incredible and prices are fair. Happy hour prices from 2-4pm are awesome. $10 for an entree and $3 for a drink. Come support this local gem!

    Yvonne C.

Customer service here is terrible. The lady in the front def hates her life esp her job. You don't feel welcomed at all. Good thing there's a kiosk you can order from. Came to check this place out since I always pass by. It's abt a block away from blossom market. When we walked in, I was excited bc they had happy hour. We got there at around 1ish and I asked her what time happy hour starts. She said 2pm you going to wait 20 mins? Well duh, why would I not want to wait like 15-20 mins to save over $10?? Other spots would nicely reply with something along the lines of "sure, I'll put your order in for 2pm happy hour". Her response totally rubbed me the wrong way. Anyways, the food is below average. They put like 5 pieces of tiny white meat chicken for the Japanese chicken curry, and the spicy chicken basil was overly salted. The best part of the meal was not the fried tofu but the sauce for it. If you're a big hungry man or a big eater like me, one of these happy hour sized plate will not be enough for you. You get what you pay lol There's a few small outdoor seating and inside is small with just a handful of seating available. Nobody was there when we got there. Street parking right in front.

We ordered the tom ka kai, pad Thai, pad se ew with beef, spicy basil beef, pineapple fried rice, and ong choy. Everything was really good! And they gave us a bonus black sticky rice dessert which was tasty too. Highly recommend a visit!

It's flavorful and Ong Choy is nice and crunchy. Definitely a great vegetable selection. Pad Thai: the sauce is way too heavy and sweet. We didn't enjoy this as much as we thought we would. The first taste was good, but the more you have the saltier/sweeter it gets. The lime juice didn't lighten things up either. Don't really recommend it. Crab fried rice: there's a good amount of crab and egg in this dish. The rice is on the softer side, it's not dry and hard like most fried rice. We still enjoy it, the texture of the rice didn't kill the flavor of it. The flavor is very balanced, but quite oily. Tom yum seafood soup: There's a good amount of seafood in this soup. The flavor (sweet and sour) is well balanced. Sweet rice with mango: A great dessert option to finish the meal. It is not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but the coconut is not distinctly sweet and overwhelming (so I was able to have some). The sweet rice is chewy and warm when served. And the mango is perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely recommend it. The service was outstanding! The restaurant decoration is very traditional and unique. They are quite busy when we arrived on a Sunday night. I would give this place an overall 3.5/5 because they can definitely work on some of the dishes.

I moved to the SGV a little over a year ago and I have been sorely disappointed by offerings this nook of LA county has to offer *ahem banana bay*. I found myself driving to the SFV or Thai Town whenever I was too lazy to cook Thai food on my own. I decided to take a gamble with this restaurant and I am so very glad that I did. It's so good and authentic that I have come out of yelp retirement (Yelp Elite 2016-2020) to leave this review. I ordered four things as take out: Issan Sausage, Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken, Spicy Fried Crispy Cat Fish, and Drunken Noodles. I was told that they were out of the Kra Pow Century Egg and stewed pork leg over rice. Hopefully, I'll get to try it next time! Issan Sausage: Good portions. Flavor is very good, a little sour, a little salty, and a hint of sweetness. I think the flavors could be a bit more bold with the sour but overall the flavors profile is as it should be. Frying it also added a nice crispiness to it. Spicy Fried crispy Catfish: Flavors were really good. Sweet foods is typically not usually in my flavor profile, but this is one of the few sweet entrees I actually like. Catfish can be a bit more fried but that is moreso a preference on my part. Drunken Noodle Beef: Good char on the noodles. Flavor was really good as well. Not that much beef but the star of the show are the noodles. I was a tad confused on the egg in my drunken noodle but to each their own. I would probably order it without the egg next time because it does change the texture a bit. Pad Kra Pow Minced Chicken: Now here's where it gets interesting! Tantawan actually uses holy basil (Kra Pow). It's harder to find but it has a very distinct flavor that Thai-American cuisine has for the most part substituted due to scarcity with Thai Basil (Horapha). I don't think you can get more authentic than actually using the right herb. Funnily enough, I think it can throw off people that have never had authentic Kra Pow as my partner said it tasted herbally. Thai food can be very hit and miss even among the Thai community as we all have different preferences when it comes to the holy trinity of sweet, salty, and sour. I am personally on the spectrum of sweet should be hinted at and never the forward flavor. Tantawan with the dishes I ordered definitely held to my flavor profile. Very well cooked and good flavor profile. I didn't have to add any seasoning as everything was cooked just right. I called my take out in and they said it would be ready in 20 and it was when I arrived. Even as the food sat in my passenger seat as I drove home I could tell from the smell emanating from the take-out bag that the food was going to be good. Quick and courteous service!

We joined their waitlist on their tablet near their counter and we were seated within 5 minutes. Just like the other location in Rowland Heights, it's very busy on a Friday night! The restaurant overall is very clean except near the entrance due to high foot traffic. It's decorated with Chinese lanterns, cherry blossom, and bamboo trees placed in the middle of the restaurant. It almost felt like I was dining at a high end restaurant. It's significantly smaller than the other location, but the high ceilings give it a spacious atmosphere. There are plenty tables and booths. Be aware the booths do move easily when you get out of your seat. We were sat in the booth closest to their entrance which I didn't mind at first, but after a while the high foot traffic was distracting (maybe they could place a divider between the waiting area and the booth). Onto the food, pricing, and service: portion is generous and they are more affordable than the Rowland Height's location. I ordered the Bbq Chicken Fried Rice. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was easy to take off the bone. The fried rice was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my plate (even though I wanted to) so I boxed the rest to take home. My husband got the Continental Fried Rice. A dish Banana Bay is well-known for. The chicken skin was crispy, the fried egg was yolky in the center, the sausages were soft, and the fried rice was consistent with my plate's. Service was great and the staff was attentive even during their peak hours. I gained a sense of relief when more than one waitress checked in on us periodically. Came out to around $35/person with tax and tip. Tom Yum Soup Seafood - So much seafood we were surprised. Crab Fried Rice - Good flavor. But I don't usually order fried rice. Pad See Ew - Probably one of the best I've ever had. The noodles were not clumped togethers. The flavors were perfect. Fish Green Curry - Solid curry with rice. Crispy Pork on Chinese Broccoli - Nice pieces that werent too hard. This was for four people and we had a good amount of leftovers that we enjoyed through the week. I'm excited to come back to celebrate another occasion. Family style. Always.

Pickup was quick and the portion size was actually pretty generous. The chicken was done really well. The steamed chicken was tender and soft, and the fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. The rice had a nice chicken flavor to it too. What really took it to the next level for me were the sauces. They paired perfectly with the chicken and made each bite better. Also want to shout out the person who helped me, she was super nice and made the experience even better. Overall it reminded me why I used to come here so often. Definitely a solid spot and I'll be back again.

Trusted my friend's rec and went for lunch on a Sunday. Parking is fairly easy as it shares a parking lot with the big plaza nearby. Immediately when I walked in I noticed that the place could use a bit of revamping, maybe some decorations. Overall, the food was enjoyable and I would be back for a quick lunch spot that serves solid chicken rice. Half fried/half grilled high on chicken rice, 8.5/10: both the grilled and fried chicken were hot and crispy. The chicken was cooked well and nicely seasoned. I thought the chicken could use a tad bit of salt though. The soup it came with was piping hot and accompanied the rice and chicken well. The rice itself could have used a bit more seasoning and chicken fat in my opinion. The sauce it came with were great especially the ginger sauce that added the fresh complexity that the dish desperately needed. Adding onto that, I think I could use some vegetables on the side. The tamarind and sweet chili sauce were great. I could also use some chilli. The perfect generous portion of food.
