Last night we returned to Dangerfield's after a long time away. We loved the new menu and our food was simply terrific! Best we have had in the last 10 years...except perhaps New Years Eve. The Chicken Wild Rice soup was easily the best I have ever tasted anywhere! The service was superb. James is obviously a pro. We also appreciate the quiet atmosphere. If you prefer to yell across your table to be heard...then go elsewhere. read more

Stopped in with friends and am happy to see the old familiar place alongside the river backwaters. We had a variety of meals with surf turf and air all represented. Portions were plentiful and all were tasty. Our server, Daryl, was wonderful and knowledgeable about the foods. Will go again! read more

I got the Canadian Walleye (Amandine), which was ok (3/5). I've had a lot better. The asparagus that came with it was also all right (3/5) but very big. The popover that came with the meal was good (4/5)! It was nice and fluffy with a little crunch! The Sonoran Barbecue Bacon Burger sounded really good with Vermont cheddar cheese, and I was excited that I could choose rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done. I ordered medium rare but the choices apparently are ignored. I received a very well-done hockey puck of a burger that was missing the cheese. What a letdown. It was simply inedible. The side of onion rings were okay, very large but heavily battered. They did have a good crunch but were way too greasy for me. It was surprising because I've had rings here before and enjoyed them. A former "regular" this is the first time I have been back since the restaurant has returned to the original owner after a disastrous period as the Shakopee House. We met for lunch. Good variety on the menu. Some new things from the before days and the salad bar is back although I did not look at it so I cannot comment. Asian chicken salad was just OK and a manageable size but the chicken was overdone. Friend had the club which was huge and the bacon was over cooked and hard. The huge popovers are still there. Meals were plated attractively. Service (by the owner) was very prompt and polite but indifferent. He had his phone in his pocket that was ringing constantly and while he did not answer it while he was interfacing with guests the constant cell phone ring walking around was very distracting and an ambiance killer. Help arrived after noon. In the before days we loved coming here in the summer, sitting out on the deck watching the ducks in the river and enjoying the summer special, the Cashew Chicken Salad Boat. Sadly now, meh. Maybe there is more life in their happy hour. read more

The food is really disappointing. I've tried Dangerfield's twice in the last 3 years, hoping that the more recent visit would be better, but both experiences were the same. The salad bar is sad and doesn't have much variety. Definitely not fresh. Bummer because I love a good salad bar and they're hard to come by these days. The popovers are gross. Very obviously frozen and microwaved (?) They were damp and lukewarm. The burger, too, was obviously frozen, thawed, and cooked to oblivion when asked to be cooked medium rare. The owner needs a reality check because no matter how many times you rebrand, if the food lacks, business will not get better. Our server/host (the only one working the dining room on a Saturday at noon) was fantastic. Kudos to him. And you can't beat sitting by the big windows looking at the animals on the river. read more

The room I reserved was all ready at the right time. The wait person was very kind and accommodating.

Terrible buffet, had to walk and stand by customers as they ate. We just stood hovering over everyone while we waited in about a 40 minute line. It was chaos and when we got to the "buffet" most items were gone. Then they "serve" you at the "buffet" exactly 2 pieces of bacon, if they had more in their tongs they literally put it back, lol no extra bacon for anyone. Don't waste your $$& read more

First timer at Dangerfields and I will be returning! Our waiter Darrell was so attentive and kind, suggesting favorites from the menu! The vibes in this restaurant are absolutely killer and my new favorite dinner gem to share with friends! The backside of the restaurant is a wall of floor to ceiling windows that faces a beautiful pond filled with swans who kept us quite engaged throughout dinner. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, gave me pause. I was with friends and always believe the people are more important than the food. The menu here are all 6 years old...WTH? My soup had to come from a Campbell soup can, the popovers were waaaay over cooked, not eaten past a bite (and I love a good pop over). The one who ordered walleye sandwich said it was good, as was the Ceaser salad with chicken. My turkey sandwich was on bread not substantial enough to survive and I ended up eating it with a fork but ingredients were fine. I enjoy dining at establishments that take customer service seriously, have great ambiance, and of course have great food. Dangerfield's hit the mark on each of my requirements. On a lovely summer day we chose to be seated on the indoor patio. We had a view of the lake and could see the folks on the outdoor patio. For a late lunch it was sparesly packed. Randy was our server and we decided to start off with some refreshing lemonade options. I had the strawberry lemonade and my friend had the blueberry lemonade. The menu had so many options I did not know where to start. After much deliberation we had a plan. For appetizers we chose the Coconut Shrimp and the Maryland Crab Cakes. Each bite was hmmm hmmm good. I got pleasantly surprised by the delicate texture and balanced flavor of the crab cakes. The coconut shrimp were a perfect blend of crunchy and sweet. I believe the manager of the restaurant graced our table to help things move along and he timed things just right in between us finishing our apps before the entrees arrived. Now for the main course. My friend had the Walleye with stuffed Crab with a side of potatoes while I had the Cajun Chicken Fettuccine, which came with a breadstick. Of course we shared a little bit of this and a little bit of that but I loooved every bite of my Cajun Pasta. But the one garlic flavored buttered breadstick was too good I had to ask for more. When Randy arrived, I pleaded for anothe one and he did me one better, he brought out two garlic breadsticks glazed with butter and I was in heaven...lol. One would think I was stuffed but I paced myself. When Randy brought out the dessert tray I politely declined to exercise self-control. Everything looked so good. But when he heard carrot cake was my fave her brought out a slice on the house! Now, I could not turn that down. I came with a group of 40 dental care Professionals for a CE dinner. We all showed up at once. Restaurant staff took our orders and we were served timely within 20-30 min. I had Dangerfield's burger: dangerously yummy. I did not get a pop up bread with my burger and I was jealous of my neighbor..... and too shy to ask for one. This is a place that appears to have once been great. In a few words, don't go there. Unless you like overpriced, mediocre food. Let me first say the one thing that is an absolute abomination, selling Surimi and calling it "crabmeat". It's wrong, it's unethical, and it should be illegal. Do you really think that's ok, or that people are stupid? I should have known better when I ordered the "Crabmeat Stuffed Shrimp". Not only was it not "stuffed" shrimp, it wasn't crabmeat either. It was unseasoned shrimp covered in a bread crumb and surimi mixture that was placed in an au gratin dish and baked until it was searing hot. It was then served with what tasted like Bearnaise made from a powdered mix. Tip: it's not good. It was served with over-cooked asparagus. The taste from the engineered "crabmeat" was more than I could handle. At least the baked potato was good. I don't know what to think about a place that has table cloths and linen napkins that serves the sour cream in a squeeze packet. As for the rest, the popover is a nice touch. However, it was held too long and was a bit dry and over-done. My companion had the 1/2 rack of ribs and only ate half. That should tell you what he thought of his choice. He had the fries as his potato choice. Again, stunningly disappointing. The fries were the commercial "coated" fries that have that weird starch-like coating that is supposed to make them crunchy and, apparently, more appealing. Nope. He barely touched them. The service was good and the view is lovely. We probably would never return. Maybe for a drink on the patio, but never again on the food. read more

This is a.3.5 star review. We came bere for happy hour which was good and great prices, half off. The server was attentive which was great. The couple of negatives were they had limited beer as there taps were not working due to flooding in thr basement. Also, due to that there was no electrical for the coolers so the limited beer list was on ice, probably not the best time to go for a beer drinker. The other was the seasoned potatoe wedges are not wedges, they are french fries with some seasoning sprinkled on top, see pic. And the pizza was a bit floppy, was more like a taco to eat, which some like this. Otherwise all the food was food. My family of 5 went here for Thanksgiving brunch this year. We were sat in a tiny, half moon booth that we could barely fit in. We finally got moved to a bigger table after threatening to leave. Once seated and drinks ordered, we went to get food from the salad bar/hot food buffet. Upon returning to our table, a new family was sitting there drinking from our water glasses that we had all drank out of. They of course, moved that family. By the time, I was done with my salad and wanted to go get hot food, the line for the hot food buffet was wrapping around the entire restaurant. It would have been over an hour waiting in line. Those that did get hot food earlier said the food wasn't good at all, so I didn't bother. Do not recommend if you want good food or any hot food on a holiday. read more

I would give them ZERO stars if it was an option. I called and ordered the prime rib to go along with some cheesecake. I tried to order wings too, but they told me the wings are only for the bar and I couldn't order them. With my prime rib I asked for a loaded baked potato with sour cream and cheese. I was shocked when I saw cheese wiz poured all over the baked potato and they did not give me sour cream. The "prime rib" was comparable to what you would get at a steak and eggs breakfast for $15. I have eaten here many times in the past and have never experienced such a low quality of food (it's probably been 5 years since I last ate here ). I'm not sure if it's new management or what but the food was absolutely disgusting. I have not tried the carrot cake yet but it looks like the tiny pieces that they used to set it for their buffet. COVID TAKE OUT REVIEW We decided to try something new. The food was good. We ordered a Canadian Walleye and Filet Oscar. The bernaise sauce on the filet was ok, the Canadian walleye was better than average. I would say the meal was good and good for the value, but probably not memorable. The new Rum Row in the lower level of Dangerfield's is a must try new restaurant. It is one of the Whiskey Inferno adventures. I was very surprised at the decor. And the musty moldy smell is no longer there. I don't know where they got the additional square feet, but a very nice place to try. read more

My husband picked this restaurant tonight after just a bad day (personal) but my gosh I'm thankful, What a great experience. Crab cakes Ribeye (smaller cut but very well done for my husbands order) Pan Grilled Walleye I could understand how a perception of cost for item may be steep but in our opinion the service was worth it all and our meals were delicious!!! We had Joseph take care of us, who made the connection of history to the building, as well as provided genuine feedback on items and what to order based on our appetite. I'd be back anywhere just to experience Jospeh again and say hello, but the food quality is worth the visit back. read more

Starting off..., bartenders- GREAT! We like bellying up to the bar, usually the service is always better and it was, It's the food.., the prime rib we ordered wasn't great at all. Mediocre at best. It's like this big super club- a lot of seniors ( sadly I am one now too). It was New Year's eve and I KNOW BETTER than to go out when EVERYBODY is going out for a meal then. It's a cozy supper club feel, which I loved. The patio wasn't open and it was a beautiful night and would have loved to sit on the screened porch. It's an overlooked restaurant sometimes - The indoor seating is really nice and they have a screened in room on the river. in the pandemic they are still doing takeout. I was very excited to try this restaurant, but was very disappointed. I ordered the Roast Beef Panini, and being a fancy steak restaurant and for $15, I thought it would be good quality roast beef. No, it was lunch meat and lacked flavor. My fiancé ordered a burger cooked to medium; it was well-done. Both the panini and burger were also very greasy. The table behind us ordered medium-rare steaks... they were cooked to well-done, as well. For a steak restaurant, you'd think they could cook a proper steak and burger. The service was great! We went there today to try their new menu as they transition to Shakopee House. The food was over priced and average taste. A cheeseburger came as two small patties that were red in the middle. We asked to have them well done but we were told they were too thin....hmmm maybe they were frozen first? My wife had the roast beef over mashed potatoes. The roast beef was inedible and the potatoes tasted like boxed flakes. The lunch menu was the same menu as the evening. We liked the old menu w better offerings and more affordable prices. I decided to try out the new Shakopee House. I was surprised by the fact the sign was still the same, Dangerfield's. Not a big deal! We went inside and didn't want to wait so we ended up siting at the bar. We weren't aware the bartenders were the "Mutt & Jeff show." It wasn't that busy but after 5 minutes we asked the bartender for drinks. He said they didn't Heineken or Corona. I saw someone w/ a Corona and inquired? He said, he thought I was asking for Coors light. ??? Anyway, he said he would be back in a minute. After a couple minutes we ask the other bartender if we could order our drinks along w/ a Caesar salad & steak bites. He brought our drinks right away. We waited more then 15 minutes and then asked about end the food. He said he would check on it. after another 5 minutes they brought the steak bites. I asked about the salad, they said they would check on it. I asked a 2nd time a few minutes later. The whole time I noticed he was catering to, what was obviously his friends. They were served a few drinks and had others before we came in. I know what bartenders look like when they are giving away free drinks or skimming the till. The fraud was blatant. Anyway, we finnished our steak bites which were only ok. I waited another 2 minutes, still no salad! I then asked for our check and the bartender ask if I wanted the salad to go? I responded seriously! He then said he would take them off the bill. I wanted to say what bill and walk out , but I didn't! I wanted to ask for the manager, but didn't. I don't know why. Anyway, I thought I would call the next day. When I called I left 3 messages, no answer. I have since called 7 times and the recording is full and can't leave a message. The only way I would go back is if they offered a Gift Certificate so I could see what the food and service would actually be like! I would give them no stars!!! read more

Cheaply decorated and designed. The interior definitely needs to be redone. Besides the immediate looks nothing else was very impressive. The drinks weren't right and the bread was hard. Then once I ordered it was also wrong, I only asked for different cheese. $80 for three people later... they have styrofoam boxes to bring home what's left. I recently discovered this place for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Overall, the food was pretty decent - 3.8 stars. We had a really large party, so I always chalk up food issues with huge parties. Overall, the steak and potatoes were cooked perfectly. What bumped it to a 4 star? Loved the service that we had - sweet, kind wait staff. Plenty of parking. Great bar/patio area. The only bad thing? The creepy, Lord-Of-The-Rings like swamp/pond in the back. But other than that, nice place to go for a night out! read more
