I've been a Liberty Mutual customer for several years and despite having a clean driving record, maintaining multiple policies (home and auto), and successfully completing a Defensive Driving Course my annual renewal was higher than my premium last year. It was definitely time to shop around and I started at all of the usual places... Progressive... Geico... State Farm... even Liberty Mutual. After reviewing my information, LM said there wasn't anything they could adjust about my rate, but since they offer an annual quote instead of just 6 months at a time it was an advantage. They also mentioned a few other things that really didn't seem like they would merit the high cost. After careful consideration, I was preparing to go with Progressive and I signed into DCCU to check my account balance before paying the entire 6-month policy at once. While logging in to verify funds I saw a blurb about their insurance services and decided to give them a try. The application process is fairly simple, but you don't get an instant quote like other companies. I figured I could wait a day or so and didn't confirm my policy with Progressive. Within a day or so I got an email with a quote from Members Insurance Advisors for a policy with Traveler's Insurance. The coverage was comparable to the quote from Progressive and pretty much the same as what I had with LM, except many of the deductibles were $250 lower than either provider. Once I double checked everything I replied back to the agent to express my interest. Ultimately I was able to everything via email and phone, I have better coverage than before, my deductibles are lower, and I'm paying about $700 less than with Liberty Mutual (full disclosure: Progressive was still cheaper, but only by about $100). Oh, and Travelers Insurance was able to provide a 12-month quote! Liberty, who??
