Took an Omega watch to sell. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. They offered me a figure I was hoping for and the sale went through without a hitch. An excellent experience of dealing with them for the first time. I will definitely go back . read more

my partner took a necklace to be repaired. they said they lost it and offered her an old, lighter necklace instead. we had to drag them through the court to get the value of the necklace back. the man was insolent and arrogant with us each time we went to the shop. He was either incompetent at his job or he was a thief. Do not take anything to be valued either. You will walk away laughing - his valuations are dodgy. read more

Ruined a customers custom engagement ring. Takes zero blame over the fact it was clearly James who damaged it. Claims customer damaged it. Clearly not set correctly as he has broken the claws. read more

Took in a gold ring to have a small amber stone put in which had been lost. After 2 weeks I received a phone call quoting me a price, even though I thought it was a bit on the high side I agreed. Things went downhill rapidly. After repeated visits to the shop and being given nothing but lies, evasions and differing stories, and never having my phone calls returned I went to Trading Standards, sent a letter threatening action and next day received a call to say my ring was ready. When I went to collect the price had gone up by 50%. Had to pay it as they refused to hand ring back. A shop to be avoided at all costs. Go to a reputable jewellers read more

Took a silver ring for repair as it had got bent out of shape. Quoted £10 for repair then salesperson noticed that the small diamond stone in the centre was loose (we had no idea) and when he said they could reset it for £12.00 thought that was a good idea so left the ring with them for the work to be done. Got a telephone call later to say the cost of the repair would be £17 at that point I should have gone with my gut feeling and fetched the ring back but I accepted what they said and let them go ahead with the work. When I went back to the shop to collect the ring the cost had gone up by another 50p but I just paid with no argument as I just wanted to get the ring back. A little over a month later the stone they supposedly reset is lost forever having dropped out its setting. My daughter is very sad she has worn this ring every day for the last 3 years. We shall never know if Daniels did reset the stone as promised when they corrected the shape but it seems very odd that they noticed the stone was loose, said they'd correct it so it was safe and a little over a month later the stone fell out. I was also pretty peeved that the repair price quoted started at £10 and finished up at £17.50. Having read the previous review regarding the lighter I won't be going back to the shop as I would imagine I haven't got a leg to stand on. I have bought various items from this shop over the years but certainly won't be shopping there again. Yes it is only a silver ring which cost about £100 but the sentimental value was huge we will never know if that stone would still be intact if Daniels Jewellers hadn't got their hands on it or whether they were as good word and did reset it. read more

Avoid like the plague. Watch left with them to quote for repair. Quote was astronomical so I asked for my watch back unrepaired. Despite numerous phone calls, all of which went unreturned, they failed to return the watch over a 3 month period. Attempted to fob me off with differing stories. Now the subject of legal redress. My advice? Find a jewellers that has a personal recommendation but don't use these jokers unless you enjoy disappointment. read more

These people are butchers!! I took my eternity ring in just to have the settings checked as I was concerned that one of the diamonds was loose. The woman took the ring behind a screen to examine it. After a good few minutes she returned and asked me whether I had dropped (?!) the ring or caught it on something as there was a huge gouge across the setting and that was why the stone was loose. She suggested that I took the ring back to the jewellers I bought it from for them to have a look. I was somewhat bemused by this as I knew there was no damage to the ring but I took it from her and left the shop whilst putting it back onto my finger. As I walked away I felt a roughness on the ring that was not there before and found, to my horror, that there was now a deep gouge right across the setting from one side to the other. In some distress I went across town to Johnsons Jewellers where the ring was purchased. They were shocked at the damage and could see that it had been caused by metal tweezers which had easily scraped through the 18k gold. They could see that the diamonds were secure in the setting, which can be determined by looking through an eyeglass, and described the damage as "bizarre". The ring has been left with them for repair which will cost me £25.00. We returned to Daniels and my husband went in to speak to the assistant (I was too upset) who, of course, denied the whole thing. I cannot prove that she caused this damage to my ring but both she and I know that she most definitely was to blame. Avoid this shop and spread the word. Take the time to walk to the other side of town to Johnsons - a proper jeweller. read more

Having just got engaged to my Girlfriend we were looking for that perfect ring! my brother told us to go to Daniels the Jewellers after they had repaired one of his rings for him. From the moment we got into the shop we could tell it was a warm close family run business, we were asked straight away if we needed help and were advised greatly by all the different types of engagement rings styles and metals they had on offer. the young girl that served us Angel, was patient and helpful as my now fiancé tried on multiple rings. Having found that 'perfect' ring, Rae their assistant manager gave us a discount and even threw in a free re-sizing! after only an hour while the jeweller on-site did the sizing, we left the store with a voucher for 20% off our wedding bands and a free clean and polish of the engagement ring for the big day!! read more

I have been shopping at daniels now for about 20 years and i can always find something in there for myself or for a present i love the shop ,they do like a club where you can pay so much a week or a month it dont matter they will hold it till you have paid for it. The items in the shop are top quality but the staff and the atmosphere is very casual and you dont have to put your posh clothes on like you do in some jewellers they treat everyone the same i.e. you get the same attention if you spend £1,000 or £10.00 and now my three adult children shop there especially my daughter who buys herself the disney traditions at least once a month , the man that owns it is very nice and so was his father who used to run it years ago when i first used to go there ,anyway go take a look you wont be sorry or have a wasted journey . read more

If you want a decent jewellers look else where!!!!! My partner spent £46 on a zippo wolf lighter for her dad for Xmas but come the special day he opened up and said that he had dermatitis in his hands and couldn't use it as the petrol would make his hands blister. So back to Daniels we went, through the door and that's as far as it goes from there the staff were rude obnoxious and damn right disgusting saying that they didn't do refunds and would only supply a credit note even though we only wanted the one thing from there which was the lighter and when asked why it's because the cant even though the item was unfit for purpose, if you want a nice respectful decent and locally known for the kind and helpful attitude then don't use this jewellers as all there out to do is fill there pockets . Disgusting read more

Very happy with the service at this shop. Bought a ring but it was not my size, so they made it smaller for me. I didnt have to pay extra and it only took half hour and you could'nt tell it had been altered!! Staff very friendly, approachable and willing to help any way possible. Will definately be returning to buy from again. read more
