The food here is fair dinkum. A regular burger add your favourite extras. Mine are egg bacon pineapple and beetroot. The bun was great not one of those soft sweet things that the chains provide. I guess though that this place does have the benefit of being quite longstanding, or at least that was what was suggested to me my a friend. My burger inspiration. Most suited to my style of cooking transferred to burgers. Simple. Neat. Affordable. You can have your fancy buns and vege sand salad options or you can have a burger. Single, double or triple patty. Throw in what I consider to be Melbourne's best fries and wash it down with a coke or Bundaberg ginger beer. I squeeze a visit to Fitzroy North whenever I can just to have one of these. Added bonus, they now accept Apple Pay. No more forced purchases at the nearby corner store to eftpos some cash. Yep. I do have to say that I quite like Danny's Burgers. My friends and I were sat around the house craving some really cheap yet delicious burgers when someone suggested we head towards Danny's. It's open late-night and despite it being in Fitzroy North while we were in Kew, it was well worth the journey. I am impressed! Customer Service: Really great! Everyone was really nice and even though it was pretty late in the night and they were tired, it wasn't shown. They were energetic, quick with our orders, and kind enough to give me a large plate of mayonnaise when I wanted some to go with my chips. Food: Great for the prices. The only downside I would say to the burgers here is that the patty might be a little too salty. However, the burgers were really plain and incredibly filling. Try the chips! The phrase "best burgers in Melbourne" is one that is thrown around a helluva lot, but I think in the case of Danny's it's true. I would be more than willing to travel a great distance to get to Danny's, juicy burgers are perfect for a lazy night when you can't be bothered cooking or a Sunday morning when you're hungdog but don't want Macca's! You can get an amazingly greasy meal here for less than ten bucks, but I do recommend giving them a call ahead of time to place your order - this place can get busy. If you're a Fitzroy North local you are DAMN LUCKY, because Danny's is open late every night so you can get your burger fix anytime! The spunky boys flipping the burgers aren't bad either. read more

I can't believe that anybody whose eaten a Danny's burger could rate it as anything better than mediocre. In their favour they are big, they are pretty cheap, they are open late and they are on my tram route home from the pub. You'd think that's probably good enough, but it ain't. In this day and age I expect a lot from a hamburger. We're spoilt for choice after all and especially in Melbourne. As for Jackie D's claim for the 'best in Melbourne', all I can say to that is 'absolute nonsense'. I can think of five or six places in the same suburb that do better burgers than Danny's and one of them's about five doors up the street. The service at Danny's is always, in my experience, shit. They are impolite, they take a long time, they are understaffed and they are always busy. Their burgers lack pizazz, their sauces are generic and plain. I'm a fan of Danny's Burgers, for the most part. The burgers are cooked fresh right in front of you and for $7 it's hard to complain. The burgers are juicy and come with nice and fresh fillings. I'd go for the lot every time. Besides the burgers and the above average fries if you can stomach it, you can an authentic American style thick shake. It doesn't get much more indulgent than The Lot, fries and a thick shake. Northsiders will flock to Danny's for a late night burger (it's open to 3 in the morning on some nights), and they get a damn good burger. But whether it gets the prize for being the "best burger in Melbourne" I'm not so sure. Andrew's Burgers in Albert Park might have something to say about that one. I'd be keen to hear of more burger places North of the river though. read more

So I've been intrigued by Danny's for a while now. It's that sort of place I've passed dozens of times, yet only ventured in until recently. On the first visit, I had a double burger with cheese and chips. Pretty big meal, and I found that, at least in this instance, the double was not really what I was after. The meat seemed a bit bland, but it was late at night. The single burger, with double cheese seemed to work out well. Nice balance of flavours and a crispy bun. The burger menu itself is scant; just listing meat options, but devoid of any pre-chosen burger options that you might find elsewhere. It seems that a lot of the times, what you get and what you order are two separate things. Even so, it doesn't matter that much in the end. Not really a fan of the chips, prefer the Shoestring fries style. All in all the single burger is a good price. The hard part is choosing exactly which type of burger you want. Lastly on advice; keep to yourself if going late at night, as this seems to be peak hour in attracting, muzza's, boy's clubs, gym apes, and just general douches. It can be a little intimidating, and I'm sure these are the people just waiting to bash the bejeesus of out of anybody that accidentally glances their way. read more

They just haven't excited me or made me crave more. As a late night option - they're worth a visit. A pretty tasty and filling 'Aussie' style burger, about on par with Andrew's of Albert Park (I know some will disagree). When I say Aussie style I mean the kind you find in traditional Aussie fish and chip shops, as opposed to an American style burger (generally a thicker patty, American cheese, etc.) Burger size and filling options are varied, and prices are reasonable, especially for the double and triple patty burgers. The chips are thick cut fish and chip shop style, nice and crisp. Plenty of tomato sauce on the counters for them too. A small note: there are two menus, one for burgers and one for burger meals. The 'meal' may be abit confusing - it actually consists of a burger, chips and a side salad. The bloke taking my order was nice enough to presume that I probably didn't want a side salad at 2am in the morning, just the burger and chips - so the price is actually cheaper than what is shown on the menu when the salad is omitted. read more

This is my favourite burger joint in all of Melbourne. Forget brioche, forget onion rings with parmesan crumb (although that does sound delicious). Danny Burger is the ultimate no frills haunt for both Brunswick/North Fitzroy locals and those looking for some easy grub. I'm a vegetarian so always get the veggie patty which they always add salads, egg and mayo. It's so freaking good! Better than anything I've found in the most artisanal of places! The chips are always made fresh and they do a killer milkshake (and are generous with he ice cream) I have endless nice things to say about this place but I'll leave it with... Danny's burgers has been on my list for a while, and since I live very close, it has been hard passing by without eventually giving in. We had a double burger (for me as I was super hungry) covered with all sorts of sauces and pickles and onions and elves singing, and also a cheese burger with pineapple and beetroot, to go, with lots of fries. Order came out fairly quickly and the lady at the counter was very friendly even though the place was crowded. I cant say any of our sandwiches stood out in any way. The Patties were fresh and soft, the meat was cooked well, and the plethora of sauces on my Double satisfied my hunger and need to have my mouth stuffed with food, yet with nothing exquisite or unique to remember. The pineapple and beetroot (was still hungry so had a bite or two. Or three) burger was Ok too, as well as the fries, but again, nothing to write home about kr get out of your way for. If you are craving a well-cooked, fresh, with generous amounts of food, and well priced burger with a large variety of sauces and flavours, and also want to stay away from the big chains (Hungry Jacks and McDonalds), Danny's is definitely a try. read more

Went to Piedimonte's in Fitzroy North today, looking for this brand of really good ravioli I always buy - my local deli out of stock - of course, whilst there, filled a trolley with continental stuff - been there before - knew what to expect - couldn't help myself - interesting stuff - good variety - great prices... Anyway, took the wrong turn outta the place, had to go up St Georges Road, spotted DANNY'S BURGERS on my right... Always on the prowl for something new to try, I find a spot to park, and walk in.. They weren't busy at 5.30pm - a little bit early yet - noticed they're open till 2am - I was in there cos I wanted to take some-thing cooked home to my trio of forever starvin' man-boys..? boy-men..? Not a bad space - clean - with a hint of "s'posedly quintessential Aussie perceived 'Diner Americana'.." - a young woman serving, an older guy cooking.. Liked their menu - nice and simple, with a few options there, all spelt out plainly.. Ordered 3 x Steak Sanga's [bread, steak, lettuce, sauce] with 3 Extra's [egg, bacon, onions] $9.50 each, 3 x Medium Chips $3.50 each, 3 x cans Pepsi [they don't have Coke] $2 each = $45 total Luckily I found an unusually stray 50 in my bag.. [think it was a Bday gift for one of the boys and they'd forgotten I was hanging onto it for them] cos the place only takes cash.. Okay, got home in 10 - the chips were still hot and crunchy, but NO SALT - ah well.. easily fixed.. all good - the kinda small but decent cut of steak was well-cooked and tender, so too the bacon, and the cooked onion; the toasted basic white sliced bread was too soggy to eat, the egg was harder than a rock; the 'opposite of generous' lettuce had turned into juice, and the sauce was just about non-existant - not nice - pretty disappointing.. in fact..!! When is some-one gonna come up with a toasted crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, longish flat roll that'll take a slice of steak nicely without it going mushy as SH..; use thickish cos leaves instead of 'ever so finely sliced' iceberg; and be generous with some 'good quality' home-made style tomato or barbecue or sweet chilli sauce... that's all it'd take to make me go buy again... I don't really care what I gotta pay for stuff, so long as it's 'bloody good'.. Otherwise I'll go for 'dirt cheap' every time.. I've never been into Danny's and walked out with what I ordered. But with a menu this basic, not much can go wrong. While I might not agree with the 'best burgers in Melbourne' claim, Danny's does do a great burger (chicken is my fave) and mean banana thickshake. The chips are also good, provided you eat them asap. It can get really busy at meal times, so plan or call ahead before you head out for a night (or morning after) at Danny's. read more

I work for a review magazine in the area. This place tried to rip me off at first. They could tell that it was my first time, and my accent gave me away. They tried to charge $15 for a burger,coke and chips even though the price on their menu was $5.50 presumably the owner told the girl at the register to do this but when I fought it they gave me the right price.
