I spent part of this afternoon clearing out my parents' home following my father's passing last week and his funeral earlier this week. I stopped at Mayberry Cafe for dinner, however, I'd spied Danville Dips when I parked on the town square and decided rather than ordering dessert I'd wheel over to Danville Dips to check it out. Danville Dips is located down the block from the Royal Theater. Parking is available streetside or along the square with 2-hour time limits for most parking spots. As a side note, disabled parking spots have a 5-hour time limit. This allows you to really visit the square and its increasingly cool businesses. Danville Dips is locally owned. The minute I arrived, I felt comfy. While I would call the entrance accessible, I'll note that there's a bit of an incline to get into Danville Dips. I was able to open the glass door and wheel myself up the incline (NOTE: I am a wheelchair user). However, those with upper-body difficulties may need assistance. Danville Dips is bright yet also has lots of wood. It's a unique design I really liked. There's booths along both sides of the wall and a surprising amount of empty space. As you go toward the back, you'll see the ordering counter. They also have a side room you can rent. Danville Dips is an ice cream shop, of course, but they also do carry sandwiches and such. They have sandwiches, hard dip, drinks, specials, sundaes, floats, and a few other items. Despite it being only in the 40s today, I was still in the mood for ice cream. I for the life of me can't remember the name of the flavor I got - something along the lines of a brownie/chocolate concoction. Whatever it was called, it was a delight. The serving size was also more generous than expected. By the way, I have to mention. There was a group of for young women sitting at a table when I arrived. They enthusiastically greeted me when I arrived and did so with a sincerity that was refreshing. I have no idea who they were - associated with the place? Friends of employees? Who knows? They were awesome. They did the same thing when I left. They had no idea I'd just lost my father and had just spent the afternoon cleaning out the house - but their heartfelt welcome nearly brought me to tears. Ultimately, I really loved this place. The atmosphere is welcoming. The employees were friendly. Those four people? Icing on the ice cream cake. This town square has several stores worth exploring along with Mayberry Cafe, the Royal, a coffeeshop, a burger joint, and an art gallery. Danville is an easy drive west and easily worth it. When you arrive, you definitely have to head to Danville Dips. read more

This ice cream shop is on the corner of the Danville courthouse square. During the summer there is a cruise in the first Friday of the month on the square and we normally attend. We have been to many business in the area for dinner and dessert. Dips has a large area to sit and enjoy your treat. If there is a line it moves very quick. There are several employees and they move fast to get you in and out. There is a public restroom in back of the business. On this visit I enjoyed the sparking piña colada. It was Sprite, pineapple and ice cream. There might have been more items in it, I can't remember. It was good. I would get it again. They have soft serve and hard dip ice cream. Even saw a little boy with a push up! So there is something for everyone. read more

This place is on the Court house square in Danville Indiana which creates a little parking problem. I went on a Sunday so I know it's worse during the week when the Court House is open. But when you get inside the place is huge with a lot of open space. They have a pretty diverse menu that includes some sandwiches . But as far as the ice cream they have a lot of flavors and a lot of different fixings options. I didn't use the restroom but the rest of the place was very clean . They only had two workers and they were pretty busy. But the two workers were quick and friendly. And as a bonus the ice cream was very delicious. Me and my wife split a banana split we went with the hard ice cream version and I a pretty sure they have a soft serve version. Great experience will definitely be back. read more

Ordering online is quite confusing. Tried to order a BLT, but couldn't order without having to add cheese, and it doesn't come with bacon, unless you add bacon for a dollar more. Disappointing to say the least. Cheese on a BLT is no bueno, in my honest opinion. And what if we hadn't clicked on adding what we thought was extra bacon? We would have had a BLC, not a BLT (with cheese)! read more

Great place to sit with friends or family and get a sweet treat. I had a waffle come with one scoop of the "award winning chocolate" ice cream. Pricing was reasonable, and apple pay was accepted. They also have a rewards program. They were busy but service was still fast as they were well staffed. Nice location in downtown Danville. Will absolutely be coming back. read more

Absolutely recommend this stop if you are in the Danville area. In addition to having great ice cream, they also offer a small sandwich luch menu. The ice cream spoons change colors which made my kiddos' day! They have plenty of seating and space to move around. We will be back and I may even consider coordinating a friends gathering here this summer. read more

Cute and bright shop with a variety of frozen treats! Stopping for ice cream in the summer feels like a Danville tradition (it probably is everywhere it gets hot, but no matter), and now there is a new spot to patronize. I have just been once so far, but I've heard quite a lot of positive reviews from others and look forward to visiting again. They have Hershey's ice cream in a variety of flavors as well as soft serve with Flavor Burst. Being local, I have passed the Flavor Burst building many times, but have never had the opportunity to try it, so am very excited for that! I tried the Cookie Overload Dipster (think blizzard, glacier, concrete, etc.) made with soft-serve, and picked up a turtle sundae made with regular ice cream for a friend. Both were very good. They feature Arcane coffee (also local), ice cream cakes, pre-packaged frozen treats, and smoothies and juices. This ice cream store is a genuine asset to the town of Danville Indiana. The ice cream itself is unbelievably good. It is Hershey ice cream and I find it is unavailable through any retail stores. The people that work there are mostly young high school and college age kids and they are very friendly and efficient. The location is quite large and there is plenty of seating indoor and out. I highly recommend this ice cream store. They also serve handmade sandwiches at the lunch hour that are quite good. There goes my waist line. read more
