The idea of serving pizza by the slice allows you to mix and match, ordering several flavors in one meal. And if you're with a larger crowd, there are alternatives for every taste: fried goodies (supplì, crocchette etc.), rotisserie pork and chicken, sides and cold cuts. There's even a whole section for draft beer and gourmet cheese. Meaning that if you don't want to take it to go, there's plenty of room to seat inside and even watch the latest soccer game, if that's your cup of tea. I'm more of a fan of thinner, less risen pizza, but I gladly make an exception for the creative combinations on display, including vegetarian and meat-loving creations. And if you do the math, you end up spending less than if going to a more traditional restaurant, although the pizza by the slice is priced a bit on the high side. All credit cards are accepted, so don't put any limit to your appetite and order away, flour, water and yeast never tasted so good and rich.

Second, I previously requested dairy free meals for the trip and was brought a pizza with tons of sauce and mushrooms- no one ever checked with me to see if this was an ok alternative. When I questioned why I received a mushroom pizza, they agreed to switch to match our group but hold the cheese. I was told the group was having pizza with salami - do I received burnt pizza with tons of sauce and a little bit of salami. It tasted horrible! Our group instead received margarita pizzas. My niece who was at the table with me, received her with what she described as water down sauce and burnt crust. Thirdly, I noticed we were served completely by an Asian-Indian staff but when regular customers started showing up, the staff switched to Italians. Needless to say I was completely disappointed with the entire meal! Again, note this review is based solely on their EF Tours pre-planned meal at this restaurant (but they should be ashamed to have served a downgraded meal). The crust is toasted for a second time, so it's thin and crispy. The mozzarella was perfectly melted and clearly fresh and they topped it with fresh high quality olive oil. I have had fantastic pizza in Boston's North end, across Italy, New York, and I must say this is the best slice I have ever had. Hands down.

My wife ordered Spaghettino alle Vongole (Clams, tomato and garlic) € 13. For beverages, my wife tried to order a mixed drink but they didn't have a bartender on duty, so we both settled on a glass of Chianti. The pasta came out first and my pizza a couple minutes later. The pasta had several small clams and my wife enjoyed it. The pasta was not home made but was just fine. The pizza is basically personal size and sufficient to satisfy. It was thin crust, had fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil. It was somewhat watery, but aside from the sausage crumbles was very tasty. It came uncut which posed a minor challenge having to cut it with only a butter knife provided, but it worked out. Where I come from (grew up in NYC) there is only one acceptable way to eat pizza, and that is to pick it up. To use a knife and fork is unacceptable. Anyway, once cut I was able to pick up the slices and eat it properly. The staff was friendly, spoke English well, and service was prompt. But here's an important tip! I read another review about this place complaining that they were ignored to the point they left in disgust. Thanks to our tour guide clueing us in, we learned that the waiter will not come to take your order unless you hit a switch to turn on a little red light to alert them. They do this not to rush you. The switch hangs from the pendant light, and the red light is just above it. Ditto for requesting the check because Italians often are in no hurry and like to linger and talk after eating. All in all, we enjoyed it and would probably go back (but we would probably like to try other places first).

The main distinguishing feature I recall here was that a fair percentage of the staff was from the Phillipines (though they may have been in Rome for a long time). Honestly, a lot of the Italian restaurants where we ate ran together in terms of what dish I got where. The pastas were almost uniformly good, so it is hard to recall. I may have gotten lasagna here. Whatever I had was pretty good. I do not recall anyone in our party being dissatisfied with the meal. The location was a block or so of the Via Nazionale, in the direction of the Termini Station. If you just got off the train, this would not be a taxing walk. I'd consider eating here again if I returned to Rome.

Just a heads up: Whilst NM is popular, it is off the beaten tourist track. - The menu is in Italian and the waiter who served us spoke very little English. So, reading the menu was fun! Just how could I not order the Nuovo Mondo pizza? Whatever it was, it had to be good to have earned the restaurant's name as its own. So, with no idea what I'd be presented with, the Nuovo Mondo it was. The atmosphere is an energetic, lively one; infectiously so. The waiters and the kitchen staff do not stop; everybody is working so hard. That's clear from the speed with which the pizza travels from oven to table. The wait for food was an entertaining one. - Just sitting in view of the bustling open kitchen had me giddy. There was excited chatter across the restaurant; such a great atmosphere.
