I was disappointed & hadn't come back, until now... I've been going to the library to get my online grad school exams proctored by their staff for almost 6 months. I have never had another proctor make it so easy to schedule- two semesters now they have let me get all of my exams on their calendar from the start of my classes, enabling me to plan months in advance. It's a free service, which I really appreciate on top of the fact that everyone is always genuinely friendly & patient. It's pretty small but has your basic needs. Collections of books from all genres, audiobooks, DVDs, 12 public computers, fax/printing, WiFi & more. They offer a variety of programs, often for children, as well as a large meeting room open for reservation. It's impressive how clean the space always is, and how prompt & prepared the staff are when I go in for exams. Definitely a library worth appreciating... although I would argue that's something we should always do!

The best thing to do here for me is to try out the local restaurants and shop. I'm not a beach type of girl but going to the beach here is nice, clean and because it's so many beach area- relaxing. The locals are nice and welcoming, though I ran into a few rude ones but I'm not gonna charge their hearts. I can't get cell phone reception out here!!! How can I check In... Lol but overall, my experience here is always a good one.

There…read moreare those big dunes blocking my ocean views, the water is rather cold for my bones and though I prefer not to be on crowded beaches being the only person within view makes beaching seem somewhat desolate. But in other ways I like Nags Head area. There is the pirate lore, especially as relates to Black Beard, the Hatteras and Bodie lighthouses, both worth seeing, and some rather good restaurants.

The last was over 10 years ago when I was with friends for a local convention. Things have definitely not changed here at all. Let's see how the afternoon turned out. Upon walking in, I noticed quilts on display via the African American Sewical Threaders Guild. They're done as part of Black History Month. They were fantastic and well made. I didn't get the chance to see all of them, but activities like this are very important to the community. They deserve a huge applause for this all around. For reading time, I headed upstairs where they had more tables if you wanted to do homework, use your laptop for assignments, or like myself, enjoying a mostly quiet environment in front of a book. Foot traffic was at a minimum the entire time I was present and it was mostly quiet. Could not ask for more. The next time I'm in the area, hopefully I'll stop by again. Truly a calm place to relax. I'm pretty sure there are some people who actually live here, and that's not cool, in my opinion. Most of the time, there are some folks that think it's a good idea to show up and be as LOUD as they can and encourage their children to do the same. I'm here to tell them, it's not "iconoclastic" or "anti-authority" to do that.. it's just annoying and disrespectful. You're not breaking a "boomer tradition", you're just making yourselves seem even more unnecessary. Just saying. Aside from that, the place itself is good. Lots of walking space and plenty to read. Just be careful when requesting items, they claim to not carry CD's anymore, even though they do. And they'll refuse to get some items because of "low demand", which directly contradicts the person requesting it. I swear, I don't know what it is about the people that work at some of these places, but they're not helping the librarian stereotype. I still like this one though, overall.

Sometimes we take for granted the resources we have at our disposal. The library is one of those things. They offer so much to the community and 99% of the time it costs us nothing but a little enthusiasm and time. This event had to do with explaining magic through science. My granddaughter throughly enjoyed it and I would dare to say that all the other children did as well. The library puts out a monthly calendar of all the events they are hosting. I've enjoyed several myself. One of my favorite was a gardening class. They offer something for everyone. Great place to spend some quality time with your little ones.

The employees are welcoming and the building is well-kept (still!). I love all the resources and play park they have for the local neighborhood children who come to visit on a daily basis. The library is minutes from the mall minutes from a gas station minutes from a gym this is just perfect in my opinion. Very seldom do I use any other services other than the desk area to do independent work. Even though I do have a library membership in case I do decide to check out anything I just love being able to come and work in a neutral environment it's not super quiet in here especially if mothers or Guardians are with children but still it's nothing that's unbearable. The staff is super friendly always helpful. Every time I come in I'm greeted with a smile. The restrooms are always tidy! Upstairs and downstairs areas and handicap accessible. There are Stadium size rooms as well just an efficient building and location that holds a lot of events from graduations to seminars. But if you haven't been here definitely check them out. This past year, I've witnessed some graduates come and take their senior photos and evidently that's something that's allowed I've never seen anyone question them... I arrived at Greenbrier Library just before heading to another location for a Yelp Experience…read moreevent. This was actually my 2nd time here but I forgot to check in for the last visit. Let's see how this visit went. The library is on the smaller side compared to most of the libraries I've been to in Hampton Roads. They have two floors with the top mostly with computer tables. There are a few private rooms available if you have a group or if you prefer alone time away from folks. The decor is neat of course and the vibe is pretty quiet. From the side entrance, you run into some artwork. I'm not sure if they're from local artists, but they're really nice to view. Only though I was here for short times, this library has been a good place to rest. The next time I'm in the area, it'll be a go-to for me :)
