I promised to come back here to get a slice--freshly baked and piping hot, right out of the oven. I did on 6/18/26 for lunch, and it was the best slice I had all month. The crust was crisp and brown; the sauce, tangy; and the cheese, good stretch. I enjoyed it with a can of Italian Mandarin-flavored Soda. The service was top notch. The man behind the counter answered all my questions about their homemade desserts (see photos below). I decided to forgo any until I lose a few more pounds. I was excited to try Dario's Pizza in West Hempstead! I wasn't able to dine in, but I was able to pick up my order and enjoy it at home. This location offers Roman-style and NY-style pizza, sandwiches, and some delicious sweet treats. I ordered two Chicken Caesar sandwiches: one with a fried chicken cutlet and one with grilled chicken. Both sandwiches came with Caesar salad and shaved Parmigiano. I really enjoyed both, but the Fried Chicken Cutlet Caesar Sandwich was definitely my favorite it was amazing! I would highly recommend Dario's, especially their sandwiches. I gave Dario's a try after all the internet hype. I was really looking forward to trying their sourdough pizza crust. I have to say, it didn't meet with all the hype. When I first walked in, the show case counter had a large variety of Sicilian style pizzas, none of which are labeled, and many of them looked the same. So with the help of the counter person I picked out several squares, grabbed a soda and sat down. No sooner than I paid and sat down the pizza was brought to the table. I know pizza, I owned a pizzeria, you can't reheat thick crust pizza in under 5 minutes. It was warm at best, and I would have enjoyed it so much more it was actually hot. The pizza was served in a tray, sitting on paper squares, no paper plates. And no cheese, salt and pepper/ red pepper on my table. I know, a little thing, but after being served warm pizza with no plate it was just another annoyance. All correctable things and I hope the advice is taken, because the pizza was good, and I would like to go back and try their sourdough pastries one day. read more

Excellent pizza! The regular round slice was the first bite I had, and it was amazing. No flop, and a thin and well-crisped crust. There was a great sauce to cheese ratio and the olive oil drizzled atop the pie really shined through. As far as square, I got the tricolor Roma. The sauces were all great, and the crust was airy and crisp, but the round is far superior. Don't start me on the bombollini. It is a spot doing hybrid Roman style pizza. Thin crispy crust with a slight chew to it. Cooked to perfection using modern techniques and premium ingredients. So Roman Square pizza is now the big craze and Dario's Pizza has been getting a lot of attraction on social media so I have to try it out for myself, it's located in the middle of nowhere in a residential neighborhood with a couple of stores around, the inside the restaurant is a good size with outdoor seating and as you walk in, you see a variety of square slices with beautiful toppings. They also have a big variety of donuts. Yes donuts to choose from which I did not take any photos of the slices were good. The prosciutto slice was a bit overwhelming. It had way too much prosciutto on it, their pizza is very comparable to tag Leo's, the crust tasted exactly the same. It's a good pizza. So after all the hype, and it being so close to my house I just had to try it. Unfortunately I didn't come away with the old "warm and fuzzy"! Two square slices at $6.50 each, didn't even combine to make the size of 1 standard Sicilian slice. Round slice almost $5. The actual price didn't phase me at all,,, but what's with the miniature square slices? lol I get it,,, it's "specialty" "upscale" "Roman style" so that justifies the size, I guess. The bad news? I felt the staff was aloof.. No one really looked at you or greeted you. There was no flow to the service; I was told people where ahead of me no matter where I stood. Finally someone takes my order of 3 slices to go. About 5 min later I look up and there's my 3 slices, on the counter, ready to be eaten there, and now cold as ice.. The cashier had no means of knowing what was in the box, had to ask me, then open the box and stick her fingers thru all 3 slices? Wtf is going on back there! As for the actual pizza? The eggplant on the slice was raw, (see below) and it all just tasted burnt.. Again, I understand the style but after cold,raw, and burnt, I couldn't really judge the quality of the sauce or cheese. The presentation in the case was just awful,, the pizza almost looked old, and the server looked totally perplexed when I asked him what some of the pies were. The customers were rude and entitled, and I don't know why, but I actually apologized for standing in the wrong spot, and promptly greeted with a snarl from another customer and a blank stare by the cashier. Maybe if I was Dave Portnoy I would have been treated properly? They should create a line, and show who had ordered and who was waiting to order, or pick up.. sorry,, but it felt more like a flea market than a pizzeria...This is Long Island, not downtown nyc ! I'm sure they won't miss my order, if it's the chic style of the day and the "upscale crowd" goes there. I didn't even mention the doors were kept open, as the pouring rain and wind was felt in to the seating area. As for me, I'll stick to my Sicilian slice at Umbertos in New Hyde Park.. Finally made it to Dario's Pizza, after seeing all the social media posts. We walked into the mid day lunch rush. Was told it's like that daily. The line was to the door, even with two cashiers taking orders and two guys strictly taking orders for already prepared slices. The dining area is standard small restaurant fare. Enough tables to accommodate 20 or so people. Definitely suitable for the dining experience. We (son and I) tried the cheesesteaks. My wife had the regular round pepperoni and one specialty square (pepperoni, pesto and basil). All of which were really good. The fresh baked semolina bread was a great pairing to the just right balance of steak, cheese, peppers and onions. Flavorful from first bite to last. You can taste how fresh everything is. The staff is firing on all cylinders. They seem to operate as a team, constant movement and communication. The gentleman taking orders (Joe) deserves an award for patience. With the volume of patrons and what would be chaos to most, he handled with professionalism. I will say, the praise is well deserved. The food is delicious. However if you are thinking of stopping by on a whim and want anything besides a ready made slice. CALL FIRST AND ORDER. We always order the Roman spicy vodka pie and it never misses. So flavorful, perfectly spicy, and just overall delicious. First, let me say that this was a destination. It did and did not live up to the hype. $23 for a hero sandwich? Are you kidding me? We wanted the chicken Caesar, but they only had chicken Parm and Philly cheesesteak left. So we tried the Philly cheesesteak. Definitely lacked flavor. It was OK. Not worth the price. The slices on the other hand were delicious. I had a regular, which was great. I could eat that all day long. I also tried a mortadella slice. Also, very good with a little cheese and pesto. Hubby had a barbecue chicken slice that he absolutely loved. Said the sauce was just the right amount of smoky. Since it was a destination, I wouldn't come here just like that. Love coming to Dario's Pizza in West Hempstead. This place is always getting great reviews and it really lives up to the hype. The pizza is consistently good with a thin crispy crust, great flavor, and really nice balance of sauce and cheese. Whether you get a slice or a whole pie, it is always fresh and hits the spot. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and they always make you feel comfortable ordering and asking questions. My Yelp buddy Joe P is always telling me about these pizza spots he comes across. He said about Dario's Pizza: Trust me, its Bill S approved. My wife & I just left the Jersey Shore, as I drive past some great Brooklyn & Queens spots, we're heading all the way to Hempstead. My wife is saying in the car, are we there yet?? Pulling up to Dario's Pizza, its not a fancy spot. There is a side parking lot for patrons. If this spot was in Brooklyn, I'd would have parked 8 blocks away. Queens? Forget about it. We walk in and it's a typical Long Island Pizza spot, nothing fancy. There's no pictures or awards saying Dave Portnoy gave us a 8.3! I see a bunch of folks in the back kitchen cooking. The waitress peers over the counter and I ask for a regular pizza. I also say: psst, where are these bombolonis everyone is talking about? They're making them now, I asked for a hazelnut to slide my way when they're ready. My wife and I sit down with our sodas. The pizza comes out of the oven fast and hot. First take on the pizza, you can see its a quality pizza. Nicely cooked under carriage and not too much charr. (My wife hates charr) First bite, now mind you I ordered the plain pizza, was very good. The sauce has a nice balance and there's not much mozzarella on top, I loved the grated cheese. Some Yelpers said it was salty, I like the pizza, bravo to the chef! That bomboloni? Wish I could give 1/2 star because I would give 4.5 but not for pizza but the surprise star. We were in the area to pick up some pet supplies from Pet Supplies (not original but it works), and so I finally got to try this place that I think got the highest score from Portnoy on Long Island. We got half regular and half pepperoni. I love the crust; thin and crispy. Love the basil and the char. So why only 4 stars? The pizza was a bit too salty, which is more obvious with the pepperoni. Very good but not sure why Portnoy gave this his highest LI score. However, when I went in to pick up the pizza, I had to wait a few minutes so I was looking at the pizzas under glass when I noticed the bombolonis. I am a sucker for doughnuts so I had to try these. They had jelly, caramel, hazelnut and pistachio filled. So of course, we got one of each. I told you I was a sucker! Loved all of them, although I am a big fan of jelly so that was my favorite. Best White Pizza slice I've ever had! I came here with my boo and we each got two slices and some water as well as an order of 10 bombolonis (spelling?) those doughnuts with jelly, like a makeshift soufganiot. The vibe was awesome and the staff were friendly and I'll definitely be down for pizza from there again. The best part was that even though the dining area is juxtaposed to the bathrooms, as people came and went about their duties, we didn't get a whiff of it as we chowed down. Happy eats! read more

Today I ordered a sausage, caramelized onions and mushroom Sicilian style slice and a prosciutto Sicilian slice. After the counter lady heated them up she placed them on the counter and added a generous amount of freshly grated cheese right on top of both slices......in addition to a few squirts of olive oil. It definitely added a nice touch and you could taste the good quality ingredients used in preparation. A good amount of seating is available and the atmosphere is very casual. This place is it. I really enjoy their pizza and not gonna lie, I'm not a huge thin crust pizza person but this place has changed my mind. I had a burrata cheese slice and a vodka/burrata slice. A 10/10 per each slice. My friend had a buffalo chicken Sicilian slice and she rated it a 10/10 as well. I really wish they had their bomboloni but it's so good that they were already sold out. Hey, I don't blame them. They're the bomb ! Service in this place was amazing, really friendly and they brought our order to our table which I found really nice. 4 slices for $15 with 2 Seltzer came out to $23. Price is great here. 11/17/25. Came by with some fellow yelpers after an event. I tasted the square eggplant, square prosciutto and a round slice. It was good. Was I blown away? No. The slices (eggplant and prosciutto) were thin/crispy with a char, and did not have much cheese or sauce, so I found them to be rather dry. I did like the fresh grated cheese on top though. I don't live close to Dario's. I mean I don't live farrrr but I try to avoid Nassau's South Shore as much as possible. I literally took a trip because I had been "influenced". Sorry to say that it's all just hype in my (humble) opinion. I was served slightly warmed up pizza from a sad display at 2pm by a guy who didn't seem interested in being there. I came in with a happy bubbly attitude with a "Yay, I finally made it to the famous Dario's", and he grumbled something in response. To top it off nothing looked fresh, but hey, I had to try this glorious pizza all these influencers were raving about that I just drove across the Hicksville line to get to. The sauce was typical, the pizza was typical and it's killer to take a trip for typical when gas prices aren't. I also sprang for a few of their donuts ( oh, sorry.... "Bomboloni"). The pistachio-filled (which is my favorite thing in the world -especially at Donut Plant in the City), were literally horrible. Not a trace of sweetness to be had. Just thick bland pistachio paste inside. I also ordered two lobster tails (the pastry). I grew up on Veneiro's. This was a no bueno for me, too. This place made me feel foolish. At least a hundred times I have zoomed past Dario's on the way to an appointment or Roosevelt fields, and every time I point to it and say "have to go there ! Have heard good things!" Finally, I have gone there and I agree with the good things I've heard ! About 230pm on a Wednesday (right before the rush starts) I was greeted warmly by no less then 3 employees. I asked about the different types of pizza on display and chose 1 slice to eat in and 2 to go (and a bomboloni!) The slice I ate in was a spicy sausage and broccoli rabe with other stuff (pictured) and the 2 to go were a veggie and the birria. I saw this place all over TikTok so I had to come try it. The staff was nice and attentive as soon as we walked in. It was super easy to order whether you're doing takeout or dining in. There were so many slices to choose from whether you're into veggies, just cheese, or meat.To start off, I had the BBQ chicken. You definitely have to love BBQ for this slice, but I give it a 10/10. The BBQ and blue cheese combo was delicious I really loved that mix. I also tried the spinach and artichoke. For all the artichoke pizza lovers, this one's for you! A couple of days ago I was driving dow Nassau Boulevard, when they did not realize, I was right in front of Dario's. So I decided to stop and, picked up a couple of slices, and a cheesesteak. It was a beautiful day, parked right across the street to the park parking lot, started on the slice first, I don't know what all the hype is about, did not find it anything special, it was dry, almost bland. On our last trip to Dario's, we had a regular slice and the meatball slice. Still one of the best regular slices around. Don't normally order a meatball slice at a pizzeria because the meatball is usually just ok. However, the meatball on this slice was excellent. We make meatballs at home and these tasted just like homemade meatballs. Might even try a meatball sandwich on our next trip there. Also got the pistachio tiramisu to go. This was also excellent.
