I have returned to Dario's after almost a year. Dario's has upped their game ever since and with Dario having more ownership and better partners, the pizza has become even more delicious. I think that as of this time, Dario's is my top pizza in Nassau County and one of my tops overall in NY. This is destination worthy pizza and don't skimp on the deserts and sandwiches either. Get over to West Hempstead ASAP

So after all the hype, and it being so close to my house I just had to try it. Unfortunately I didn't come away with the old "warm and fuzzy"! Two square slices at $6.50 each, didn't even combine to make the size of 1 standard Sicilian slice. Round slice almost $5. The actual price didn't phase me at all,,, but what's with the miniature square slices? lol I get it,,, it's "specialty" "upscale" "Roman style" so that justifies the size, I guess. The bad news? I felt the staff was aloof.. No one really looked at you or greeted you. There was no flow to the service; I was told people where ahead of me no matter where I stood. Finally someone takes my order of 3 slices to go. About 5 min later I look up and there's my 3 slices, on the counter, ready to be eaten there, and now cold as ice.. The cashier had no means of knowing what was in the box, had to ask me, then open the box and stick her fingers thru all 3 slices? Wtf is going on back there! As for the actual pizza? The eggplant on the slice was raw, (see below) and it all just tasted burnt.. Again, I understand the style but after cold, raw, and burnt, I couldn't really judge the quality of the sauce or cheese. The presentation in the case was just awful,, the pizza almost looked old, and the server looked totally perplexed when I asked him what some of the pies were. The customers were rude and entitled, and I don't know why, but I actually apologized for standing in the wrong spot, and promptly greeted with a snarl from another customer and a blank stare by the cashier. Maybe if I was Dave Portnoy I would have been treated properly? They should create a line, and show who had ordered and who was waiting to order, or pick up.. sorry,, but it felt more like a flea market than a pizzeria...This is Long Island, not downtown nyc ! I'm sure they won't miss my order, if it's the chic style of the day and the "upscale crowd" goes there. I didn't even mention the doors were kept open, as the pouring rain and wind was felt in to the seating area. As for me, I'll stick to my Sicilian slice at Umbertos in New Hyde Park.. I did give it a try,, just not for me... I wish them well.

DELÍCIA!!! Delicious food, friendly and FAST service. Very family friendly. We tried the chicken ceaser slice, I want to come back and try each and every slice! I will make his my mission!

First, let me say that this was a destination. It did and did not live up to the hype. $23 for a hero sandwich? Are you kidding me? We wanted the chicken Caesar, but they only had chicken Parm and Philly cheesesteak left. So we tried the Philly cheesesteak. Definitely lacked flavor. It was OK. Not worth the price. The slices on the other hand were delicious. I had a regular, which was great. I could eat that all day long. I also tried a mortadella slice. Also, very good with a little cheese and pesto. Hubby had a barbecue chicken slice that he absolutely loved. Said the sauce was just the right amount of smoky. Since it was a destination, I wouldn't come here just like that. If I were nearby, I might drop in for a slice.

My family has been buying pizza from Dario's a while now and it's probably the best pizza in West Hempstead. It's our go-to spot every time! We always order the Roman spicy vodka pie and it never misses. So flavorful, perfectly spicy, and just overall delicious. The pepperoni slice is also amazing and one of those classics that's done really, really well. Yes, it's a little on the pricey side for a pie, but it's 100% worth it! If you're local and haven't tried it yet, you're missing out.

Love coming to Dario's Pizza in West Hempstead. This place is always getting great reviews and it really lives up to the hype. The pizza is consistently good with a thin crispy crust, great flavor, and really nice balance of sauce and cheese. Whether you get a slice or a whole pie, it is always fresh and hits the spot. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and they always make you feel comfortable ordering and asking questions. The inside is small but cozy with that classic neighborhood pizzeria feel and it always smells amazing when you walk in. Now I have to talk about the Chicken Caesar sandwich because it is AMAZING. The bread is special and honestly makes the sandwich. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and so flavorful. The portion is huge and I always end up saving half for later. The chicken, romaine, parmesan, and Caesar dressing all come together perfectly. This is not your average pizza place sandwich at all. Overall this is a great local spot with excellent pizza, great staff, and one of the best chicken Caesar sandwiches I have had. Definitely a go to when you want something really good and reliable.

Would love for a delivery option to be undercooked and uncut with basil and finishing cheese/oil on the side. For a proper finishing at home. Or... I should get off my butt and head to the shop to eat the pizza right out of the oven, the way it's supposed to be. All the components are here for a stellar Roman style pizza. Wonder why they don't use more pecorino romano.

I am very picky when it comes to pizza I normally don't even review any pizza I eat in NY bc I'm from Italy Naples to be exact so my expectations of pizza is very different than most , saw this spot trending on Facebook so today I was near by I said hey why not doesn't hurt , and not disappointed !!!! You can always tell the quality of a pizzerias pizza by there regular slice ! The sauce was delicious the cheese was fresh to taste and the basilico on top as a touch made the aromatic of each bite worth it , the crud was very airy and thin but with a good solid bite and the crust was phenomenal , the mortadella was my super favorite bc the slices cut was beyond perfect and thin , I could have ate 3 , and the pepperoni was for my sibling she loved it and wouldn't stop saying how good it was , the sold San pellegrino products the chinotto was amazing and refreshing , I will be returning for more items on their menu to try ...the service was excellent and the establishment was clean and the transaction was quick and smooth

I came here the evening of 11/17/25 with four Yelp Elites after a Yelp event, and we purchased the following flavors to sample: regular, prosciutto and eggplant. All three slices had to be heated up after sitting there on the counter for quite some time. Each one tasted stale. Any pizza slice baked for more than 10 minutes ago is too old for me. I prefer pizza, freshly baked and piping hot. That is why I usually order a slice in the late morning when pizza shops first open their doors. I will visit Dario's again in the morning when the pizza is fresh, or I will order a pie like Yelp Elites Joe P. (a self-professed pizza aficionado) and his wife Cathie P., who we ran into at Dario's after the Event. I will also be sure to get the bombolini (doughnut) that many Yelpers have been raving about in their reviews about Dario's. The interior was relatively clean for a pizza shop, and the service was satisfactory.

My Yelp buddy Joe P is always telling me about these pizza spots he comes across. He said about Dario's Pizza: Trust me, its Bill S approved. My wife & I just left the Jersey Shore, as I drive past some great Brooklyn & Queens spots, we're heading all the way to Hempstead. My wife is saying in the car, are we there yet?? Pulling up to Dario's Pizza, its not a fancy spot. There is a side parking lot for patrons. If this spot was in Brooklyn, I'd would have parked 8 blocks away. Queens? Forget about it. We walk in and it's a typical Long Island Pizza spot, nothing fancy. There's no pictures or awards saying Dave Portnoy gave us a 8.3! I see a bunch of folks in the back kitchen cooking. The waitress peers over the counter and I ask for a regular pizza. I also say: psst, where are these bombolonis everyone is talking about? They're making them now, I asked for a hazelnut to slide my way when they're ready. My wife and I sit down with our sodas. The pizza comes out of the oven fast and hot. First take on the pizza, you can see its a quality pizza. Nicely cooked under carriage and not too much charr. (My wife hates charr) First bite, now mind you I ordered the plain pizza, was very good. The sauce has a nice balance and there's not much mozzarella on top, I loved the grated cheese. Some Yelpers said it was salty, I like the pizza, bravo to the chef! That bomboloni? I had the remaining slices boxed up and was told the bombolonis weren't ready. I mean, no one eats pizza and bombolonis in the same sitting! Unless you're at the San Gennaro Feast? My buddy Joe & I have had discussions on what's the best spots on Long Island. We can both agree Dario's pizza is one of Long Islands best.

Today there's a special gnocchi dish with vodka sauce, burrata which you can get with chicken cutlet. They usually serve only pizza & sandwiches, so you know I had to try this! It was so good, my husband and I both got an order of it and we loved it. The Biscoff and Nutella bomboloni were very good as always.

    Joe P.

Wish I could give 1/2 star because I would give 4.5 but not for pizza but the surprise star. We were in the area to pick up some pet supplies from Pet Supplies (not original but it works), and so I finally got to try this place that I think got the highest score from Portnoy on Long Island. We got half regular and half pepperoni. I love the crust; thin and crispy. Love the basil and the char. So why only 4 stars? The pizza was a bit too salty, which is more obvious with the pepperoni. Very good but not sure why Portnoy gave this his highest LI score. However, when I went in to pick up the pizza, I had to wait a few minutes so I was looking at the pizzas under glass when I noticed the bombolonis. I am a sucker for doughnuts so I had to try these. They had jelly, caramel, hazelnut and pistachio filled. So of course, we got one of each. I told you I was a sucker! Loved all of them, although I am a big fan of jelly so that was my favorite. My daughter loved the hazelnut and my wife the pistachio. The dough is pretty fluffy but has a little chew, which was very yummy! So not I am a sucker for bombolonis AND doughnuts.

6-26-25. Ground sausage, caramelized onions and mushroom slice on left and a prosciutto slice (cut in half) on right. Both were excellent.

Also, they need to make some of the items on the catering menu available on the regular dinner menu. The staff is super friendly and attentive from the moment you walk in until they wave you goodbye on the way out. The pizza is OUTSTANDING. They've mastered brick-oven style pizza. The mozzarella and parmesan are always fresh, the sauce is tangy and flavorful, and the crust is TEXTBOOK. Sorry I won't sound that way in this review. I don't jump on YELP to review right away unless something's really got me irritated and fed-up. The Ambiance is basic pizza place IMHO.. Plenty of tables and space. I've eaten pizza and pasta dishes for at least 65 of my 70+ years on this earth and worked in a pizza place during the late 70s-early 80's and I KNOW my pizza AND pasta, especially the sauce. Today's baked ziti and baked stuffed shells was literally out of this world, meaning it tasted like it came from an alien, possibly one of those we've been hearing about on the MSM news. It Was HORRIBLE! No, I don't have pictures because I do NOT have a cell phone or a cam. My wife does but she is not home today. Trust me, I do NOT knock pizza places unless it is well deserved, like this place. This was the 3rd time I've tried this place. The 1st time I ordered the same as today. It was delicious. The 2nd time I ordered a round cheeses pie which was a bit too well done for me, so not satisfied. The very 1st time I had just a slice or 2 and was very satisfied, which is why I went back. Today, I'm sorry I decided to stop there. It's a total waste of $27 as I can't even eat this. It looks and tasted like leftover food from last night. The stuffed shells were way overcooked. So soft that when I attempted to transfer to a big bowl, they fell apart. Too soft and the "ricotta" was not creamy or melted. It looked like ricotta does when it's gone bad. I was afraid to eat it, THAT'S how bad it looked. I did TRY it along with the baked ziti, but not good at all. So, you might wonder how the baked ziti was? HA! NOT GOOD AT ALL! The ziti tasted as it looked. Overcooked. Some brown "burn" spots on the mozz, (very little cheese) and the same "expired looking" ricotta. I tried a couple fork fulls but it tasted burnt to me. well done, burnt and dry. Sorry guys but this was horrible and unacceptable. This was to be for my wife and me tonight. Now I'll just make my own, which I'm quite capable of and KNOW it will be edible and much much better than the garbage I was given today. I would call but the convo would not be pretty since I'm in a rotten mood, so I am just writing it here. I won't waste my time or gas in bringing it back. This place is NOT around the corner. I was just passing by again so I figured I'd get some hot food. I should've stuck with the pizza. I mean really; how do you screw up baked ziti and shells? There's 3 ingredients plus the pasta. The Ricotta HAD to be bad to begin with and then the overcooking it compounded it - or vice-versa. I hate throwing away food but this is going in the garbage AFTER I get my wife to take a couple pics. Both meals are in a big bowl, mixed together since the shells fell apart and I THOUGHT maybe the ziti could be salvaged using some of the sauce from the shells but even then, it tasted horrible. Obviously, Enzo's is off my fav. places to eat pizza/pasta list. It does take the #1 worst ziti and shells spot though. So bad I wouldn't even want another order if offered. I'll take the loss. It's not the first time I've wasted cash. Live and learn. Calda, Positano's, Sbarro's, Gino's and a couple other places nearer to me have yet to disappoint, so I'll stay with them. So now, having just wasted $27 and annoyed at that thoughh it could've been worse, I'm going to drink my blues away with a beer or 3 and then I'll feel better - or fall asleep in front of the TV. If my wife takes a picture and we can figured out how the heck to upload it from her phone, I'll do that as soon as possible. EDIT: The bread given with the meal was also hard and cold as if ( again ) it was leftover from yesterday or even before then. But from what I recall about the bread, it looks a lot better than it tastes. I'll be throwing that out too.

The food took pretty long which is my only complaint, and the service was mediocre. It was quite busy despite us coming at a late time so that might be the reason behind it. Every dish was delicious and I would honestly come back. It is a tad on the salty side so stay hydrated!

I have finally made my way to King Umberto's after all this time. This is part of the trifecta that…read morebrought the grandma pizza to the masses, that being Umberto's, King Umberto's, and Da Angelo's. And with this visit, I have visited all three. With that out of the way, let's get to what I got at this pizzeria. Since I had just come from Dario's, I decided that one slice would be good to get a feel of what KU offers. First off, the ambiance and look of the pizzeria is my favorite of the trifecta and the customer service is fantastic. I got the white slice and on the whole, it was heated to perfection, had a wonderful balance of mozzarella, ricotta and basil. Anywho, the taste of the slice was fantastic and I think this outclasses Umberto's and Da Angelo's white pies by a long shot. The display case had a great selection of wonderfully made pizza and other items for takeout. If you come here, you need to try their grandma pie as that it's claim to fame (I wish I could have it, but damn gastritis! ) I met Giovanni, one of the owners and he was friendly and loves having conversations with his customers and hope to meet him again. This has easily become one of my top favorite pizzerias on Long Island and will make the trek again, this time with my family in tow. Cheers!

My kids don't like basil, and the fact that they already know our order the second we call ("Margherita, no basil") says everything about their consistency and customer service. The pizza is always spot-on: crispy crust, great sauce, perfect cheese melt -- and they somehow get it right every single time. Plus, they're a lifesaver for those last-minute orders after kids' sports practices. Always open, always reliable, always delicious. What we love: * Perfect margherita pizza (custom order always remembered!) * Reliable for last-minute takeout * ‍‍ Super friendly staff who know their regulars * Consistent quality -- never misses Luigi's is everything you want in a neighborhood pizza spot -- friendly, dependable, and consistently great pizza. A Mineola favorite.

What a waste of time and the system they have going there is questionable. Worked in a pizzeria all…read moremy childhood, never seen such nonsense..... I walked in, immediately was waived to the counter to order 2 slices. I paid....then I waited. The worker didn't do anything, didn't even take the slices from the pies i asked for on the counter, they never moved off the tray. I waited and waited.. people came in ordered, there was an older couple next to me experiencing the same issue for 1 single slice.... It took about 20 minutes and back and forth with the staff, who blamed it on being busy with orders, but paying absolutely zero regard to walk ins ordering a "quick slice of pizza" doesn't exist at this place. The workers took slices from the back of the pizzeria, not from the counter where I pointed and this is not typical. Main guy running the show didnt want to hear the fact that it should take no longer than 5 minutes to grab the slice I ordered in front of me, throw It in the oven...hell, I would have even taken it cold to go but they clearly avoiding standard practices for whatever reason. Instead I stood waiting close to 25 minutes for 2 slices of pizza to go.... Not good. Pizza has gone downhill as well. Laughable.
