I can't say enough good things about my tattoo artist Gilbert, his work is amazing I don't know how he managed to fix my tattoo. I went to several other shops and I was told I needed a cover up but Gilbert's fantastic skill saved my portrait tattoo. I figured the circumstances make it okay to add an update on my review for DHTC. As I said, I was very happy to have made the trip to Gilbert, AZ from Dallas, TX. My update isn't adding much other than I still highly recommend this shop. James Withee the owner, is very good at what he does. An hour before my appointment Nicole canceled and has since ghosted me. They haven't answered my messages and no one answers the shop phone when I call. He was excited to get started and we set the appointment. He worked with me on placement and budget to get exactly what I wanted. I wanted a floral piece done on my shoulder but I wanted it to be very minimalistic with only a little shading. I had an appointment scheduled with Xavier price on May 25th for a tattoo of my daughters feet prints name and a daffodil flower. My husband and I came by the week prior to talk with another artist which ended up being out sick, we looked through Xavier portfolio and ended up consulting with him and very pleased we did. His vibe is very chill and personable, his artwork is great and he is very flexible to doing whatever you want. I had originally had Roman numerals in mind and ended up switching to the daffodil the day of and he showed no frustration what-so-ever. He is a very chill dude and my husband and I vibe very well with people like him. I am very happy with how my tattoo turned out and will return for another one. he has a light touch that gets the color packed in solid which was wonderful! My husband is next and will be having a cover up done which Xavier was willing to draw up something before hand for my husband to decide on a design. HIGHLY RECOMMEND XAVIER. I adore this place. I have gotten most of my work done here and I generally work with Stephanie (who is a complete doll). I walked in about 3 years ago and she fixed my very messed up tattoo on my back. Because of how nice she was (and really EVERYONE is super nice), I have kept coming back. I am working towards a half sleeve with Stephanie now and would recommend her to anyone who asked. The shop is always clean (and the chairs wiped down while you watch) and the tools are always sterilized in front of you. Normally, Stephanie is scheduled for about six weeks in advance, so be warned. However, when my roommate and I went in last week completely spur of the moment, Stephanie and Jacob fit us in between appointments... how cool is that? Shop minimum is $60, and the artists that I've worked with (Stephanie and Jacob) have been really good about charging me fairly. If you're looking to get work done, check this place out. read more

This shop is the BEST! I went in for a consultation with Brandon Quinn and had a slight idea of what I wanted for my half sleeve. I showed him photos of things I loved and gave him the drivers seat for design. I went in in tattoo day and he had the most gorgeous drawing ready for me. We got started on the session right away. I had a leg piece done in September by Xavier, and was blown away. I went in for a consult first where we talked about what I wanted and we got on the same page. I wanted lilies, and Xavier pulled pictures offline and positioned them how I asked. I'm working on eventually filling my leg, so I wanted them around my knee. After an hour of talking, I didn't feel pressured or awkward to leave a deposit or make an appointment. I left a deposit and scheduled a day with Xavier. I came in when the shop opened and 8 hours and 45 minutes later, we were done. Fueled by red jolly ranchers, we did the whole thing in one sitting. He was conscious to ask if I needed breaks even if he didn't quite need one yet. Overall I really enjoyed my experience in the tattoo shop and I'm stoked about the piece Xavier did. I only wish I could give them more stars! A very nice and CLEAN shop, loaded with talent in every artist employed there. I met James a couple of times and he simply couldn't have been a nicer guy. He's going places with this shop. Being from Ohio, I brought in a classic Ohio State logo and gave Brandon Quinn the freedom to add his personal touches. Boy, did he surprise me! Brandon's one of the newest artists, but definitely not to be overlooked. He worked his magic on me late into a Sunday night. A pure pleasure to spend a few hours with while gritting one's teeth. He actually provided the most comfortable tattoo I've ever received out of four. The man knows what he's doing and he's extremely pleasant and professional. Again, I brought in a logo from Ohio that barely anyone in AZ knows well, but it's beloved in Columbus and for anyone who is a Buckeye fan. He did his research and impressed me greatly. My husband wanted an eyebrow piercing for his birthday, and I wanted it to be a surprise. So I googled and yelped my way around the different parlors in the East Valley area. Rebellious Addiction caught my eye because the very first review on their Yelp! page talked about how impressed the guest was that the place was so sterile and clean. Excellent! My husband is a bit sensitive about cleanliness, so I knew that that must be a sign! I called in a week ahead to find out pricing, because I was going back and forth between this and another place. (But the other place had bad reviews because it seems that out of towners think their pricing is too expensive). A pleasant guy answered the phone and quoted me $35-40. I then asked about the day we were coming in and no appointment needed! He said we probably wouldn't have any issue coming right in and being taken care of. Sure enough, we walked in at about 4:45 on a Friday evening, then walked back out right before 5:00. The guy at the front desk and Rob (the piercer) were both super friendly when we entered and had us cracking up with laughter the whole time. Rob was professional though when he needed to be, especially in verbally walking my husband through the process. Rob was precise AND speedy! I do not like needles at all, so I turned around to not watch. I barely had time to turn all the way before Rob was telling my husband that he was already through and now putting the bar in. Soon enough we were out the door and only paying $30, less than my quote! I almost did 4 stars though, just because we didn't get talked to about any after care or cleaning. But my husband had mentioned his other piercings and tattoos, so they probably assumed he had it handled. GO HERE. Rob is fantastic. read more

I Checked the web for tattoo places and this business had a lot of good reviews so I decided to give them a try. When I came in I was impressed by how professional everything looked and someone came out right away and got my info. It was my 65th birthday and I wanted to do something I had never done before. I went in to Rebellious Addiction for the second time this past tuesday (4/30) to finish my first tattoo with Stephanie. First impression, shop was CLEAN and very open. A very welcoming place to come get a tattoo. Couches, chairs, tvs, display cases, artists books, etc. I didn't talk to the staff much at the time because I knew where I wanted to go to do a consultation but they seemed nice enough. At the initial consultation, I gave her a few ideas for things I liked. The plan was originally to get a much smaller tattoo but when I arrived the day of the first appointment she told me she had drawn something for me. If I didnt like it, we could definitely go in a different direction. When she showed me the design that she drew I absolutely LOVED it. It ended up taking up most of my upper arm which was not a problem for how awesome it looked. We put the outline on 4/2. I went in with a friend who had previously been tattooed by Stephanie and when we walked in Stephanie said after she did my outline she would touch-up one of my friends tattoos. Stephanie does free touch-ups for life and takes a lot of pride in her work. When it came time to put gun to skin, she definitely took her time making sure I was ok with my first tattoo. The design I wanted was a new school style cartoon zombie scene. The only thing I changed was there was a general cityscape silhouette in the background. As I've moved here from Las Vegas and worked on the strip for my time there, I asked if we could change the cityscape to a Vegas Strip silhouette. She fixed it up in no time flat and it looked great. The lines on the outline were really, really clean. She gave me very good, clear aftercare instructions which came in handy. It healed very nicely. After we were done I asked her to set us up for an appointment sometime about 4 weeks out. We settled on a date and she explained to me it would take her approximately 6 to 8 hours to finish the tattoo and I could either split it up or do it in one shot if I could handle it. It wasnt so bad with the outline, so I set up and all-day appointment to save me a few dollars if I could sit in the chair for that length of time. Stephanie made it clear to me that if I set the all-day appointment I didn't have to worry about being locked in to it. If it came to be that I could only take it for say 2 or 3 hours she would just charge me at that rate instead of the full day. VERY reassuring for someone like me so I didnt have to feel like I had to sit there all day if I wasnt feeling it (or was I suppose). Came back on 4/30 to get the thing finished up. After Stephanie got set up, we started in at about 12:30ish. I was in the chair for maybe an hour when the owner came in to do his thing. VERY nice guy (I'm bad with names, sorry!). He introduced himself, talked me to a little bit about everything. Talked about movies and such. Then he offered me Jamba Juice because he was going which was an awesome touch. Halfway through the tattoo we took a lunch break. Stephanie wrapped me up so I could go outside and talk on my phone a bit. She also offered me sushi because thats what they were getting for lunch. How nice can these people be? All day a few of the other artists came in and talked to us some, saw how we were doing, and made us laugh. I honestly can't say enough good things about the service and the people here at Rebellious Addiction. As someone who has worked in customer service/hospitality for almost half of my life, it really is top notch. I ended up in the chair for probably 7.5-8 hours. She even stayed after the other artists had left to make sure it was up to her standard. She added some things along the way as well and adjusted it to my muscle/body shape. Beautiful use of color, wonderful design, and a great ARTIST. You can really tell that she is an artist at heart and not just someone that traces and colors inside the lines. I definitely will be back for more now that I've had such a good experience here. I get compliments everywhere I go for this beautiful piece she put on me and I cant be happier with it. read more

Got my first tattoo here by Matt and was an excellent experience! Shop is very clean, and all the staff is super friendly. Since it's the holiday season, not a lot of people were booked to get work done, so after my initial consultation, which was friday the 4th of December (which i called the studio ahead of time and they said they could do a consultation within 40 minutes of me calling), Matt sent me on my way and said he would draw something up for me. Not even 3 hours later he sends me a very detailed sketch via text message of my future tat. I was in LOVE! He scheduled me in for that Monday to get it done at noon. Initially it was only supposed to be a 3 to 4 hour job that turned into a full 8! He spent so much attention to detail and coloring that I was in the studio his whole shift! It's a large purple and green octopus piece on my thigh, and I couldn't be more amazed by his ink-manship, not to mention he carried great conversation, and made sure I didn't feel uncomfortable. I would highly recommend this studio, as the staff and Matt take care of their clientele in a sanitary and friendly environment :) Thanks Matt for getting me in and spending the time to give me a beautiful piece for life. i think i want to Kayla. she had a very very heavy hand. the ink she used wasn't great and although i take very good care of my tattoos and have had NO problem with healing on my others, this tattoo ended up patchy and scarred BAD. she put a skin graft film over top and as soon as i left the shop it fell off. i believe this to be why it scarred me so bad. the tattoo itched a crazy amount, i had a huge, gross scab on my little tattoo on my arm for 2 weeks before it healed. despite bold black lines, she ran the colors together. it's only been 2 months and it's already dull. I'm very picky with my tattoos, if i wasn't i would say she did a great job and that it looks AWESOME but it's just the little things. What i really liked about her as an artist was that she worked with me and my design for it to look even and well placed. she came up with a great and clean design. i would give this shop 3.5 stars read more

My husband made an appointment with Xavier to get a bigger piece and this guy made him wait for two months because he was "booked" but the truth is he was always traveling and working out, not busy tattooing and I mean that's ok but if you're gonna run a business You have to be more profesional than that; he would take up to a week to reply to his messages and when he did he was always busy, my husband tried to ask him about his tattoo and never got a response, so he never knew if he was working on something for him. The week of the appointment came and my husband hasn't heard from him, he already had payed $100 to book the appointment, so my husband decided not to go sincere didn't know if the app was still on his schedule. I talked to Xavier about it and he said that my husband is an old ass man he doesn't need to confirm his appointment and that he made him loose a day of work and he started explaining how a tattoo artist work and a bunch a nonsense. He's very unprofessional, he doesn't know a single thing about customer service. You can go to other places where they want to work and are happy to help, plus other artists always ask about your previous tattoos and when I mention Xavier from dark horse tattoo, they already know who he his and has bad reputation amongst the artist. I can't really review the entire staff here, but the shop is clean and the people are more or less friendly. I enjoy walking in there and never feel like I have walked into some place I shouldn't have. What I can say for sure is, Jacob is an amazing artist and great to work with. I've gotten four pieces done by Jacob. One was something I had already drawn out that he put on my arm, two were larger pieces that I gave him an idea for and let him work out the artistic details (both were better than I had pictured them and I approved at once) and most recently he put a couple of hours into my full back piece that was started years ago in another state. I've been waiting to find someone that I could trust to finish my back, and Jacob is without a doubt the man to do it! Did some research, looked at reviews. Came here. My daughter wanted matching mother/daughter tattoos - you know the same child that told me "why do you have so many tattoos, I'm never getting any". I talked her into something simple since it was her first tattoo and she has anxiety issues. We had availability issues as well because she was in town visiting. Sam was available when we were. Set the appointment and paid a deposit.... that.easy. Come in for appointment. Sam was accommodating and did what he knew what we wanted. The man is a helluva artist (look at his portfolio and his art on the walls). I love that he was knowledgeable, direct, to the point about what my daughter needed to do. As a nurse, I love that his area is clean, he tells you not to put your purse on the floor, shows you the new needle and cleans THOROUGHLY between clients. Was it a simple tattoo this artist could've done with his eyes closed? Yes. But it's not just about the ink, it's also about the experience. And Sam made daughter's first experience wonderful.
