Great car buying experience until they have your money. While I was closing the deal in the finance office my car was back in the detail shop getting scratched. It was then delivered to me with a huge scratch which the sales advisor tried his hardest to not call attention to while screwing in the license plate (photo attached). I then waited several days to hear back about them addressing the scratch and items on the We Owe that we discussed in the deal. I called in and was told my sales advisor would call me back... nothing. I called back in 2-3 days late later and my sales advisor actually calls my back. Asks what day I would like to schedule to bring the car in. I recommend some days and he tells me he will get with service and let me know. 2 weeks go by. I called in. He apologizes and tells me service was supposed to call me, but didn't. The day before dropping it I am coordinating with my sales advisor to get a loaner while they have the car as it is my wife's car and she is pregnant. After a lot of back and forth I am told they will address 3 things and have a car ready for my wife 1. Fix chips in the windshield 2. Fixes the scratch they made while detailing the car 3. Install a trailer hitch. When my wife shows up in the service bay they tell her they don't know who she is AND SENT HER TO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP, as the car we purchased was a Subaru. The service advisor as Subaru had to get everything figured out before sending her back to the Honda dealer. She is told there is no loaner car ready for her and they would not be fixing the windshield that visit as promised. They take an hour to get her a car and then we don't hear from the service advisor all day. He leaves early never updating us that they would have the car another longer than expected. I called in before service closes and find out that they didn't finish the work on time and they might charge us for the extra day of the rental they put my wife in. A sales manager finally agrees to cover the rental and also since they will have the car on a Friday. When their key guy is there, they will also make the key copy that was also included in the We Owe when we made the deal. We show up Friday, car is still scratched and no key was made. Sales manager kept interrupting me and not letting me talk when I was explaining all this to him. They have truly NEVER delivered on anything they have promised and I have had to initiate every communication. Should have bought from Subaru. read more

Kwame Okraku (service), Bryson Clark (service) , and virtually all other staff have been attentive, polite, helpful, and respectful. This is my first return to the facility since the relatively recent remodel. Bright, airy, clean, and comfortable waiting area. Conveniently located restrooms plus coffee, water, fresh fruit are all provided if you need to wait Prices for new & used vehicles is competitive. After-market add-ons can be pricey. (Caveat Emptor if purchasing elsewhere; you likely will "get what you pay for.") Requesting service is relatively easy and the staff will try to meet the needs of your schedule whenever possible. This dealership has a long history of excellent service. We have purchased several cars here over the years. I always shop around for each purchase and always come back here. We purchased a like new used CR-V about a week ago and the entire staff has been wonderful. I really appreciate Jullian C.'s knowledge and service attitude while trying to sell us a car. I never felt pressured, he was kind, answered questions and made sure I had his direct number if we ever need anything. He and the finance guy (I believe his name was Ryan) stayed late after closing to make the deal. After the purchase we were told to bring it back in so they could detail the vehicle. I did not know that the particular vehicle I purchased was missing the second key, and to be fair at the time I don't believe Jullian knew that either. They are making it right! Additionally the cleaning/detail (team?) missed cleaning under the back seat and my wife and I didn't notice that the headliner of the vehicle had several noticeable dirty spots that were not visible until seeing the vehicle in bright sunlight. I'm back today about a week later for the second key. Jullian was it available today at the time I was here, but I mentioned our concerns with the cleanliness under the back seat and the headliner to another gentleman and was treated with the upmost respect. They are taking care of our concerns and that makes me a satisfied customer. Additional thoughts: 1. I've always had great service in their service center. We brought our previous cars here for years for regular oil changes and service and will plan to do the same with this one. 2. The employees genuinely seem happy. You can tell the employees are treated well and enjoy working here. 3. Service service service - Have I mentioned their customer service? As I'm sitting here waiting for the items mentioned above, one of the girls from the front desk comes over and makes fresh popcorn and walked around offering the complementary snack to myself and other customers waiting for service. If that wasn't enough, I observed her cleaning up the space and pop corn machine very well afterwards. I know that's a strange thing to point out, but to me it shows the care and attention to everything they do here. In closing - no one really enjoys the expensive process of buying a car. It can be stressful and frustrating. We've all heard the horror stories from friends and family who bought a car they loved and then the dealership did not provide or honor the service that was expected afterwards. I've never experienced that frustration at DW Honda and if they stay true to their values, they will continue to earn my business. read more

They do equip all cars with a LoJack they must have some kind of deal with them and they try to raise cost of cars trying to sell the benefits of them. Truth in advertising. Prices advertised do not reflect real price. The dealership adds nearly $2,000 to every car with their LoJack system that has been installed on every vehicle. They do not advertise this in their pricing yet it's a cost they plan to pass to the consumer. When you don't agree with the price and proceed to negotiate the price, they remove this cost and pretend they have dropped the price of the vehicle, when in reality they have just come to the advertised price which in many cases is above the market value of the vehicle. I find this practice to be dishonest and not a good policy for the sales associates to have to deal with. Pretty disappointing experience. read more

5 stars for Feras! My happiness with our purchase was a high priority to him and I appreciated that. We had to do a quick little re-dreaming as our choice car ended up not being in our price range, and he asked me a few times before we officially bought the different car if I really was happy with it. Everyone here was also SO sweet towards our 9 month old. She ended up in Phoebe (receptionist's) lap, playing with all of her desk supplies, by the end of our time there. *Sold me a new lemon that had to be towed after 6 hours *Look at the contract, they comped me for the car but not the $3k added package *Sold me a certified used lemon replacement with engine noises I can reproduce and have recorded *Still owes me a second OEM key a month later (and multiple people worked on that for me) *My replacement was sold with wheel locks and no key, so if I get a flat I need a tow... It's a pickup truck, what if I was towing? Bad neighborhood? What else... 2 6 hour sessions for the purchase of the car and replacement. I paid for the tow out of pocket. A wasted trip to the dealership because my spare key wasn't ready as in they had no idea I was supposed to get one... Had to detail car myself after purchase... During the diagnostic of the brand new sports car, I think they drove 5 miles farther then their normal 11 mile test drive (I know it's 11 cause I asked)... Possible joy ride but I can't verify... They paid below KBB on my brand new mint trade in... Small print said they couldn't give me the vet discount... I have been on long term mental disability for 10 years and I just got my first job since as a mechanical bull operator/bouncer. Yikes, absolute nightmare of an experience with the sales team here, and I could not caution others against buying from this place more. I've done extensive research on buying a new/used car and came in knowing exactly what I wanted, but looking for the full pricing estimate so that I can compare from the different options I've been considering. I walked in and they handed me off to a young associate with some particularly rank body odor, who seemed uncertain if he should even be the person helping me with a sale. I shared exactly what I was looking for and asked him repeatedly to show me pricing estimates, to which he kept, frustratingly replying he didn't know how much even the base price was for different, very popular cars. I finally got him to put together a pricing estimate for the car I wanted, but was shocked to see $3,200 in required add-on's for stupid/minor things I didn't even want (cup holders, GPS, a cuddy for trunk organization.) I informed him that put the car out of a range I was willing to pay and gave him parameters for a used car. He searched online a bit then said he'd come back with estimates. Instead, he came back with his manager, Evan Pomin, who seemed itching to pick a fight with me from even our first introduction. Evan asked me aggressively, "how May I help you?" To which I replied honestly that I was a little confused why he was here; I was here to buy a car, the first estimate didn't work out so I was awaiting a summary of used car estimates. Then, the young associate stepped in and said he didn't find any used cars (why didn't he just tell me that initially?) Evan the manager went on a man-splain tangent of the $3,200 add-on, which is required & applied to all new and used cars sold at this dealer and was a standard in the industry, etc etc. I explained that respectfully, I just left another dealer with a comparable car that didn't have any of these required add-on's, so what he was saying was not actually true. To which he really rudely asserted "Then why didn't you buy it?" At this point, I told Evan he was being rude and I'd be leaving and he crossed his arms and gave a little smirk as if sending me, a paying customer away, was his intention all along. Recently attempted to buy a car from this dealership and not only were they requiring I buy LowJack for $1500. They quoted me the wrong car and the wrong price twice. They took up about two hours of my time and then in the end couldn't even put the right price sheet in front of me. I finally left and bought a car from a different dealership where I had a seamless experience. I also own a Honda Odyssey and have had it serviced there and their prices are outrageous. They charged $675 for an alternator. The total cost to replace it was $1545. Do not recommend this dealership. read more

Same experience as James R (review below dated 1/27/22 from Memphis). Saw a used car online advertised at $13,965. Got to the dealership to look at it and suddenly the price jumped to $15,200 because of "Lo-Jack security". When saying we didn't want lo-jack security we were given the same line as mentioned in James R's review "Every car already has it on it". If the dealership adds additional equipment they are responsible for indicating that in the advertised sales price as well as mentioning what equipment was added. But of course we wouldn't have even gone in if they'd been upfront with the price of $15,200 as that was too much to pay for this particular used car. Chris Gary, Service Advisor was absolutely great to work with! After having been to Firestone, where they royally screwed up, I took the car to Honda. I called and despite being booked, they worked me in same day due to a potential safety issue. Chris and the team of technicians quicky diagnosed the problem. My 2014 Honda Civic LX left-side rearview mirror got clipped by a trash bin someone left at the end of their driveway. I got it replaced at Waltrip for $844. My insurance had a $500 deductible; they said it could have been fixed for $250. So I paid Waltrip 3X a fair price and now have a claim on my policy. Stay away from them except for things only a dealer can do. read more

We had a noon appointment to drive and purchase a used car. I had spoken to the salesperson, Nikki, over text for two days prior explaining that we were out of town but were very interested and that we would be in on Sunday at noon. My husband shows up at noon, with a check to pay cash for the car, only to find out their employee, who happens to be the parts manager, and his wife, are out test-driving the car. This car has been on their lot at least a week and they decide to show up before the dealership opens on Sunday to test-drive. They walk in and basically say tough luck they are buying this car. I scheduled an appointment on Friday, July the 6th to have the damage to my undercarriage skid plate and passenger side view mirror assessed @ 11:15am. I arrived between 10:45 - 11:00 and they took my car. The service consultant was amazing. He explained to me what would need to be done to assess the damage. They would have to lift my 2015 Civic EX to see if there is any damage to the undercarriage. They would also have to take apart the passenger side view mirror to see the damage. In addition, they would also have to remove the door panel to see if there is any damage to the wires for the mirror because it has a camera and is motorized. Fast forward to 1:30pm, I speak with the consultant because I thought I heard my name called over the PA system. It wasn't, but he informed me that they would be done soon because they were putting the side view mirror back on. Finally, around 2:00, they were done. The consultant informed me that the whole side view mirror assembly would need to be replaced, which I expected, and it would cost $860 something, which I was shocked but understood. When I asked about the damage to the undercarriage and the skid plate, he stated his technician informed him a few clips were missing, but they replaced them, free of charge, and there was no damage to the undercarriage and the "skid plate looks fine". I was puzzled and told the consultant this was impossible because the skid plate was ripped off my car and sitting at home, in my garage. He then had a blank look, took a moment, and then said something along the lines of, "Most of the cars that come in here don't have a skid plate and we haven't seen any damage done because the skid plate was missing." At this point, I lost all trust. I was charged $140, plus tax for the assessment, which I was fine with because I figured a lot of work went into taking off the door panel and taking apart the busted passenger side view mirror. When I got my car back, I took a look at the mirror and the painter's tape and packaging tape I used to secure the mirror to the car was STILL ON THE MIRROR, completely untouched. I wasn't upset about the 3-hour+ wait until I realized they didn't do much at all except hoist my car up to look underneath and just take a visual look at the mirror.......all while charging me $140 (plus tax). Later that day, I called Hardin County Honda, in Elizabethtown, KY, where I purchased the Civic, and told them about the damage to my mirror and the undercarriage skid plate. They said they would need to take a visual assessment to give an accurate estimate. I asked how much would the assessment cost because I just paid $140. Their reply? "We don't charge for damage assessments like that." WTF?! So I asked them what all does the assessment entail. They replied, "We just take a look at the undercarriage and the mirror then make an estimate." I went into detail about the "assessment" Darrell Waltrip Honda just did to my car and at this point, I think I was on speakerphone because there were some techs listening in on the call and I heard them chuckle. One of them said that the dealership just took a walk-about the car and conned me out of $160+, which at this point, I believe. TL;DR - I was charged $160+ for an imaginary assessment that took over 3 very real hours of my work day. read more

Read this before you purchase at Darrell Waltrip: Update from my APRIL Post below May 6th Update: I emailed Lawrence twice last week about getting together, discussing the situation. I called him the following day and he states to me "I didn't see any emails from you"... Oh there they are let me read it. Unbelievable. Lastly, the service manager Willie is a nice guy and means well but it is all about the "SALES/General Manager". Not service or customer but bottom line. I was suppose to meet with the General Manager Lawrence Martin today. I was called by Willie Berryman "that Lawrence wants to sit down with you and work this out". So, my transmission once again went bad and had to bring back in the day before we were to meet. (Ironic) This is the 7th time in 7 months. I go to see Lawrence and his solution was to give me a 2017 truck and wants me to pay 10K out of pocket for it. I have a lemon of a car and their solution is to get me last years truck and pay 10k out of pocket. Original Review (April) I purchased a 2017 Buick Lacrosse Premium: Day 1: Bring home that night (4 mile ride) and there is a scratch in the door. On the ride home the tires are thumping also. I have to bring to the shop because they have to paint the door. Mind you this is a BRAND NEW Car. Also, they state to me you have flat spots in your tires and after 1,000 miles you won't feel them any more.. Really? 2. I come home and then my family notices that the molding is not right and I take it to them.. They said we have to order all new side molding and reinstall.. (This is just a week after the car was purchased). 3. The car has terrible noise in the roof and can't hear music or people when driving. Brought in and they needed to tighten something in the roof. (Once again all within the first few weeks). 4. About 6 weeks in and at around 1200 miles the TRANSMISSION WENT on the car. Yes brand new car I am talking about here. They had to replace the WHOLE transmission. Needless to say I wanted to get the car replaced. The management team at Darrell Waltrip states "We are the dealer and don't make the cars" We fixed what was wrong and we can't do nothing if Buick doesn't want to help us" I believe this is a COP out and using this to wipe their hands clean. So the Lawrence the General Manager states to me.. IF we have ANY I mean ANYMORE problems I will take it up with Buick Myself and get it addressed. Well I am going in this week for the third service issue since that statement and every time I mention his statement he ignores it. To add insult to injury, I went around and looked what I could get for trade in or straight out purchase for the car.. Darrell Waltrip the car dealership I am having issues with in good conscience was giving me 2-3K less than dealers I was visiting. What does that tell you about how they want to take care of their customers?? They know of the issues, they promise to fight for you and they don't.. Then they low ball you on the trade in or buy back.. Can't take a loss or do the right thing. Nope.. They need to make sure its all about them and how it benefits their bottom line first. We had a very pleasant buying experience at this dealer on a beautiful and very busy Saturday. Pete Purky took all of the necessary time to help us with the final stages of a decision that we had been considering for weeks. Despite some of the normal trappings of a conglomerate corporate car dealer outlet, such as the attempt to nickel and dime you in the finance department, we came away with a positive impression of a dealer for which natives to the Nashville area carry decades of history and exposure to. The deal made was a bit more competitive than other area dealers and the correct vehicle options were in stock. Not having to test drive with the salesperson in the car was another big bonus to this experience, as the ride along is moldy and outdated and unnecessary in the modern age of tracking and technology. We were able to have an honest discussion between the two of us while we drove and truly check the car out in our own ways without a continued sales pitch from the backseat. No customer service here. My wife and I called in regard to a Honda Odyssey van that was listed for sale. We spoke to a woman named Mackenzie and she told us to come down and look at the van. We were concerned that we would not make it to the store before the store closed, but Mackenzie assured us that we would be welcome to come to the store and not be rushed. My wife and myself made the drive to Franklin from Murfreesboro and arrived before the showroom closed. Upon arrival, the showroom staff, informed us that Mackenzie had sent us to the wrong location and that we needed to leave the building and drive to the other location. (Thank you for the address Kenzie). Upon arrival at the second location, we were cordially greeted (not) by a salesman At the front door, that informed us that the Odyssey van had been sold. When we asked the salesman why Mackenzie told us the van was available, he said she had probably made a mistake and didn't check the inventory. (Thanks Mackenzie). He also mentioned that the Odyssey was being recalled due to a faulty rear seat mechanism, that: "Really wasn't faulty, but was improperly operated by the customers of Darrell Waltrip Honda". The salesman was willing to leave the conversation at that. We had to prompt him to check his inventory for any other vans that may be for sale! He fumbled around on his computer for an eternity while we waited for him to get an internet connection. He managed to come up with a Toyota van. Once again, we had to prompt him. "May we look at it?" The van looked good and we offered cash if he could come down on the price. He informed us that Darrell Waltrip prefers to deal in loans, so that they can make more money off of the customer. (Wow, let's brag about screwing the customer). With no options left, my wife and I departed Darrell Waltrip Honda with great dissapointment. Service advisor said oh I'll have to get it for you finally after a back-and-forth for an hour I get the paperwork. it's out of alignment still of course now I'm feeling this is why they didn't give me the spec sheet. I said I don't feel comfortable with this I need this repaired properly he said well no it's not worth it we can't do anything. Took it to a local garage they said they can fix it for me for free if I want and Honda just didn't do the job properly. this is completely unacceptable I really will not take my car there again this is a strike on the business and for the community. read more

Two words...slow service. Make that extremely slow. I think they need to hire more mechanics because it doesn't make much sense. I dropped my car off on a Saturday morning as soon as they opened at 9 and my car wasn't looked at until 2 pm. I was told they may not even be able to look at it because they are so booked. Lesson one don't overbook the shop because people have emergencies and have to drop their car off for your services. I made an appointment with the service person for the next week. I got a call once the parts arrived and the person asked me to make an appointment. Um I already had an appointment set but actually it was not on the books. You get an email notification when you book an appointment. I arrive and drop my car off at 7 am for the 7:30 am appointment. My car wasn't looked at until after 1. So if you make an appointment you wait a long time. If you're a walk-in you wait a long time. What's the point? An amazing and stress free car buying experience. The staff was so respectful and kind, everyone was very attentive but not pushy. My salesman Corey Kinney was incredible, from the first phone call until I drove off the lot I never felt pressured or anxious, he answered my questions, he listened to what I wanted. From finding the perfect auto to financing he was awesome! The Finance Manager Mai Sheath was also very attentive and helpful. She made the finance portion a breeze. So I was looking at a used car online at this dealership and contacted the salesman for a price quote. Included in the price quote was a $1495 charge for a LoJack service. When I contacted the salesman and discussed that I was not interested in activating this service and notated that it is not required by law per my research to be purchased even if it is already installed because it is only an option. I was told by him that the sales manager said that is the price of the car. So be forewarned about their sales tactics there. read more
