Absolutely horrible. I brought my car in for headlight repair. They charged me $425 to tell me they couldn't fix it. Seriously. They couldn't fix blown headlights and still charged me for the work. Either They are completely incompetent or total crooks. I hate leaving bad reviews but this one is deserved. Please don't make the mistake of using this shop. read more

Excellent service with reasonable prices. I was driving home through Palmetto yesterday evening after work and my front brakes started to lock up. I remember dropping a coworker there about a year ago at this shop to pick up her truck and that she was happy with the experience and pricing. Even though they were just closing the shop for the day, they took the time to listen to my vehicle's issues and schedule an appt. for the next day. The next morning they called to discus the issues, repairs needed, and pricing. They had already ordered the parts the night before and promised my car before the end of the day. The car was completed as promised and they also looked at my rear brakes and parking brake per request. So impressed, I decided to leave my secondary vehicle for an inspection of the shocks/suspension. I drove the aforementioned car home with no issues today. I will repost Part 2 when the second service is complete. They appear to be an accomodating, knowledgable, and honest shop. Part 2: my jeep.was completed as promised - the next day. The mechanic was able to reproduce the issue I described of my suspension and fully corrected the problem. Again, price seemed fair for the work performed and the associate on the phone was able to clearly communicate the word required both before and after the work was comoleted. I use their shop for all my maintenance and repairs. Darrell is honest and very good at what he does. A few years ago I went to Tire Kingdom in Palmetto for a oil change. Tire Kingdom claimed I needed $2100.00 worth of front end work. I took it to Darrell's after his shop was recommended to me by a friend. Darrell inspected my car. I was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with my front end. He spent some time inspecting the car. I asked how much the second opinion cost. He told me zero, nada, zilch. He just asked me to give him my business from now on and I do. He only advertises by word of mouth. They say if a person can find a good doctor and a good mechanic they are lucky person. When it rains, it pours...fortunately Darell's is nearby. I reviewed him on 2/24/14 and then my 2001 van invented a couple new problems. The starter went out and the rear differential started leaking (due to a rusted cover). He knocked out each repair in a day, with accurate estimates provided before the work was done. I was really worried about the differential service and he did it for $42 plus parts! Honest service, great communications. Really is as good as it gets. read more

Work was done in a reasonable time frame, but communication was lacking. He did not give an option for anything other dealer parts even though there were after market products for half the cost. Difficult to talk to and rude over the phone.I also think the prices are high. He charges $95/her for labor, 30% markup on parts, and a shop fee on top of that. I found a shop just down the road that only charges $65/hr for labor. He may have been around a long time, but I will not return. read more

Contrary to another reviewer the front office person was both personable and knowledgeable. My daughters car had a leak around the heating/air conditioning exchange. She was in the area for a very short time (hurricane Mathew) and had to get back to school. I called them at around 11:30 from Colo explained the situation, they got her in at 1:00 and by 2 she was done. So thankful for the good and honest service. read more

Well, I didn't get too far with these guys as the woman who answered the phone was rude. If the bad service starts at the phone call I really don't believe the work on the car will be any better. Too bad for them as I had quite a list of work to get done! Watch out for Betty, she can be quite nasty to new customers. Darrell's is THE PLACE to go for auto repair (and tires) in the Palmetto and Bradenton areas. I inherited a low mileage 1995 Dodge Caravan which I needed to drive from Palmetto to my home in western Colorado. The van was 24 yrs. old, and although the mileage was low it had not been well-maintained (other than regular oil changes) over the years. Darrell and his crew went over every aspect of the vehicle, made recommendations that would offer me a "low risk" drive back to Colorado, and made the necessary repairs at very reasonable cost. I arrived back home on Feb. 2nd, and was pleased that my 4-day drive was completely trouble-free throughout the journey! And two days of the trip were through record-breaking cold temperatures in three midwestern states (so "smooth sailing" was more than just a convenience, it provided my wife and I with a perfect 2,250-mi. trip in what could have been horrible, even treacherous conditions). I am totally grateful to Darrell's Auto, and recommend them without any reservation whatsoever! read more

Darrell's Auto Care is the best in the entire area! Darrell owns the business and is honest as they come. His Technicians are top notch, as is Darrell. They will treat you right here and not try to up sell you on anything. Small Honest mechanics are hard to come by these day but if you remember the days of old when you could actually trust your mechanic and he would know you by name that Is Darrell's.
