Opened in 1859, Darsham railway station serves the nearby villages of Darsham and Yoxford. It is located on the East Suffolk line, which runs from Ipswich to Lowestoft.
The fine original station building is no longer used by the railway, but provides hostel style accommodation for youth groups. The station itself is unstaffed, with a ticket machine to purchase tickets. There is a shelter for passengers on each platform.
Access to the platform for Ipswich is via the level Crossing, which also means that both platforms have step-free access, although there are no staff available at the station itself to help passengers with disabilities. (Those needing assistance are advised to telephone in advance.) There is a station car park on the other side of the main A12 Road, for which the parking fee is £3 a day.
Train services are currently operated by Greater Anglia, with an hourly service between Ipswich and Lowestoft, stopping at all stations. read more
