So I'm gonna say that this is the best restaurant in this park and the best one in the SeaWorld chain as well as one of the only ones I'll ever eat at! So here it's all about the sampler platter as you get a collection of some German goodies from bratwurst, knackwurst, chicken, corned beef, sauerkraut, homemade German potatoes & red cabbage making for quite the plate so go hungry because it's a lot that will be the only thing you'll want all day! Each of the components on the plate are actually pretty good and this has remained consistent for the last few years while it's not totally authentic it is good enough for park food and that red cabbage and German potatoes salad are super yummy especially the big chunks of apple I got in the red cabbage the sausages had a good snap to them and tasted just like they should! The cheesecake was mid definitely lacked being a cheesecake but I will say before I got a pice of carrot cake here and that was actually really yummy. The fried pickles were ok nothing special I'd just avoid them next time all together and get the sliced one instead as you can't ever go wrong with pickles! The SeaWorld chain has the highest prices for everything no matter what you get or what your doing and they like to tack on a extra 5% charge at the register that they try to hide so be prepared for that too as it's not really clear I just know this because I've seen them do it for the last few years. The dinning area is bench row seating and you can generally find a place to sit even on busy days as this whole area is huge and definitely a nice way to get out of the Virginia heat! Time your meal to one of the shows and you'll get to hear some entertainment on the stage which just sets the ambience for a bit more of a vibe! So overall had we payed full price for the meal it would have been $127 for two of us so definitely use a pass discount should you come here as that will definitely help out a bit, and like I said this is the best restaurant in the chain and we will definitely be back here again during our next visit to the park as it's always what's good! read more

I love this place! Busch Gardens Williamsburg is one of my favorite amusement parks and spots like this in the park are a big reason. You have an enormous German beer hall, serving up pretty decent German food, you can sit and enjoy a beer and watch a live performance in the comfort of an air conditioned space. The Festhaus in Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Germany section is an ideal place to take a break while enjoying a day at the theme park. It's great when it's too hot or too cold outside, and it's host to themed shows during the Halloween and Christmas holidays. The food is okay; the drinks are way overpriced but they do have a nice selection of local beers. It's a cool atmosphere overall. Ample bathrooms are attached to the building as well. read more

Attended this the first weekend in December and it was packed! The dining hall was decked in Christmas sparkle and though cramped with wall-to-wall people, the mood was festive! We ate snacks while watching the musical dance entertainment performed adeptly by probably the young college students on break. So this is the main mess hall at Busch gardens. Emphasis on mess. While I understand food at any amusement park is gonna be grossly overpriced I at least expect the quality to follow suit. The food felt like stuff I could have grabbed out of the frozen aisle in a dollar general. The selection was okay and the choices as you go through the line had all your usual suspects (mozz sticks, Mac and cheese, salad, and cake) with a twang of German sausage thrown in there. The bathrooms were kind of gross and a little outdated. While there is a stage with a live act every day I wouldn't recommend spending a whole lot of time in here. read more

There's German food and the venue itself is nicely decorated for the theme. I had a German Sampler which included chicken that was very dry and hard to eat. A group of performers will dance every now and then on the stage while you eat. Workers come by once in a while to clean up any messes customers leave behind. Unsurprisingly, the prices are super high especially considering the portions aren't even that big or good. I'd recommend you buy the All Day Dining Meal to get your money's worth instead. read more

I only recommend this place for a seat away from the shade and possibly some entertainment with plenty of German style dancing. The food, though? Hm.... I got a sandwich, mac n cheese, cup of grapes, and a meat platter. It was $60. The food here is absurdly overpriced as is everything else at this park. I routinely go to Disney World and Land and even their food isn't this expensive, nor is it this bland either. Tolerable food in the food desert of Busch Gardens as long as you focus on the German food. The sausage sampler plate was actually pretty darn good--both the three sausages and sides of kraut, red cabbage and German potato salad. The pizzas and salads looked really depressing. The kids got chicken tenders and waffle fries. I didn't try the chicken tenders, but the waffle fries were really disappointing. The fruit cup (melon) and oranges were surprisingly good. What has happened to the food quality?! I used to love the corned beef sandwich...they'd slice the meat right in front of you and it was so tender and yummy. Well, I ordered my sandwich and expected the same thing, but they took the meat out of water from the steam table to make the sandwich. Okay, maybe it's not as bad as it looks. Nope. It would be difficult to overstate the damage that is being done to US-German relations with each meal that is served at Das Festhaus. This is a cruel mockery of German cuisine. Part of this is my fault. I had a PTSD-inducing terrible meal there 2 years ago. Having run the gauntlet of revulsion once that is the Das Festhaus menu, I should never have re-entered the building. But, Busch Gardens claimed on their app that this outlet had a half-chicken entree this year. I mean I know I should have walked away from it. I knew better. But my curiosity won out. I arrive and see no sign of the promised chicken. It's not there. It's a cruel hoax played on me. I should have turned around and left. But I was hungry. I also was on the pre-paid all-day dining plan that allowed me to eat a meal every 90 minutes. I rolled the dice. I lost. Badly. I had the German Sausage sampler. More flavorful meat tubes can be had from the roller grill of any 7-Eleven. The bratwurst was a mealy and flavorless hunk of grease and regret. The knockwurst was roughly the same. The smoked sausage was entirely another lower ring of Hell. It left a slime film on my palate and an aftertaste that is something I can only describe as what I imagine the rotten flesh of the damned might be like. Then came the macaroni and cheese casserole. When I got to my table I noticed it was filled with tiny grey cube-like pellets of....I don't know. It might have been a meat of some kind. It might have been a mushroom. It might have been fish food. It might have been mouse droppings. I really have no idea. The only thing I do know is, it was pretty bad. Just a cup of baked flavorless gunk filled with mystery cubelets. Strawberry cake is almost overpowering in its sweetness and the flavor of artificial strawberries. Like eating Frankenberry cereal with a bag of sugar dumped on top. If diabetes could be strawberry-flavored, you would get this cake. The only edible item was the mashers and gravy. Not great, but at least not something that threatened my sanity. My wife said her corned beef sandwich was consumable and the one slice of corned beef tried confirmed that. I stopped by just for the show and my friends and I decided to just grab dinner here too. Everything here is extremely overpriced and poor quality. Looks are real deceiving here. The chicken was extremely dry and felt like eating cardboard. Eating cardboard with salt may have actually tasted better than this. The sausage tasted like a tube of salt. The sauerkraut and red cabbage tasted like soggy leaves. The potatoes were undercooked and hard to bite into. The one star is for the $6 giant pickle which was really the best part of the meal, which they probably just bought packaged from another company. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I had high hopes with the chocolate cake because it looked good. Nope. I was wrong there too. It tasted like I was straight up eating a jar of frosting with extra sugar and no cake. The cashier also tried to charge me $10 for two water cups because it was put in a large plastic cup instead of the small cup where there are no signs indicating that. Do not eat here! read more

Themed as Germany, Das Festhaus is a great place to grab a meal (to share) and watch the show that happens to be going on. The fare is either German or kids meal, and by German, I mean just that. We got the Sausage sampler, both of us ordered one, and we really screwed the pooch on that, we should have gotten one share, because for $10.95 the portions are incredible. We got 3 large sausages, one of each type, a helping of German potato salad, of Sauerkraut and of red cabbage. That's a huge meal, but we also added a side salad and shared a dessert between us. The food was good, the seating is family style, you don't know someone but you're going to sit with them anyway. Be friendly and I hope you wore your deoderant, because if it's busy, you'll be close. read more

This is the only place in the park that we consistently go almost no matter what that the kids will eat well. The fact that you get a great show is a huge bonus too! I can only assume that those who love it have not weighed in and those that had issues have made their voice heard. Has the quality diminished to some degree in our 10 years, well maybe. But not enough for me to say it is average when decent food is combine with a show. Located in Germany...duh! It's huge, cannot be missed and beside the bumper cars. To me it is iconic BG because it overwhelms the area and is a mainstay for entertainment. Seating is plentiful, rarely if ever had we not found seats. Always check around back too! There are a few options to choose from. The traditional German fare and American food. My children always want the pizza, mozzarella sticks and fries...so guess what line we get in. The pizza is always delicious and huge. For children under 10 splitting is absolutely possible and will save you huge! Beer and other drinks are available and they will fill up your annual cups here for the discounted price. There are tons of check outs and if you see a line keep looking they are usually all open. No one wants to go right, so look for the far end. Use your annual BG pass for 10% savings, it helps take some of the sting out of the prices. Now the shows for me are what holds and possibly elevates the Festhaus. Often very good quality shows throughout the Summer, Fall and even during Christmas are a mainstay. They have had what I consider some weaker shows, but still good in my opinion. The front stage is usually your best, but rear is not bad either. They are now reserving places in the rear for those that get meal deals which is frustrating because they usually are empty. Keep in mind this is also the location for beer tastings. It's beside the kitchen area and begins in the afternoon. I have never done it so cannot vouch for what you will get. Prices are around $13 I noticed this past weekend. Is this my #1 at BG, no! Trappers is my favorite, but the fact that good food and good entertainment come together in one place makes the Festhaus a special place for our family. read more

Usually, I'll compose a review, edit, sit on it for a bit then revisit before posting. Not this time. I feel bad for being blunt. I love the park and even though I have never had a good experience in the multiple times I've been in this place I'm still reluctant to write a bad review. This is mostly because I've known people who've worked at the park when they were young and it gave them an opportunity and I think that's great. Walk into Das Festhaus now and you'll see plenty of employees that are well into their sixties and I think that's terrific too and I don't want to do anything to jeopardize their livelihoods. However, as an eatery this place is bad. Woefully bad. Has been too for a very long time ( READ: Decades). For the utter life of me I cannot fathom why-why-why there isn't some investment here to make this place good with a solid menu that changes seasonally but has a basic template that hits all the right marks for people who are only passing through and only there for a day. The food is terrible; and I don't care if you like the sausage ...it's bad folks. I don't care what you have to do just stay away. No you are not supposed to bring food into the park. For the love of God smuggle food into the park! Or hey, try one of the other eateries. There's BBQ apparently and an "Italian" joint. No Kidding you are better off paying $5 for a bag of cotton candy and twice that for a bag of Twizzlers and getting a stomach ache from it. No. No. No. A thousand times no. I loved this place since I was a kid in the 70s going to Busch Gardens. But I hadn't been since 1989. Yep, 30 years..... So how would the 50 year old me like it, now with my kids and wife, 30 years later? I got the Sausage Sampler one day, and the Chicken, ribs, knackwurst combo the next. Both days pizza for the kids, and chocolate cake. My wife and I really enjoyed and shared the entree's we ordered, and the kids said it was some of the best pizza they ever had. Just walking up to the place, and then inside, filled me with nostalgia and memories. I actually had to pause and reflect a bit. The Festhaus was like a mecca to my family, especially my mom, in the late 70s and early 80s. Overall it's a fun, inviting, air conditioned food hall with good food in plentiful portions. read more

It's a quick service indoor German food court complete with staged performances. Located in Busch Gardens, German section, this establishment hides it's grandeur in a humble quaint building. Designed to take on the highest volume of patrons in the park, this indoor food court can easily seat over 1000 people. Complete with air conditioning and a performance stage set in the middle of the food court, everyone has a front row seat to the entertainment while you eat. The food court is complete with three stations offering identical German food offerings, and drinks. Those wishing for some Italian offers are not left out with one station offering that. The prices are fair and even favorable considering the location is in an amusement park. All of the German food offerings is an Americanized version of it's authentic German counterpart, mostly differentiated by less sodium. Everything from German sausage platters to baby back ribs to honey roasted ham are offered here. The beer on tap varies upon season, so do make the most of your visit and try a new brew. Worst food I've ever eat. Meat didn't have any spice, the ribs sucked. Didn't taste good T all. Pizza felt like cardboard, salad was mushy, i got a steak sandwich, they cooked in water and it tastes so bad I had to put ketchup and mustard a lot to taste any better. Bread was old. The food here is terrible. The pizzas are unappetizing and the chicken with sausage are both bland and unseasoned. The chocolate cake was also way to sweet. Honestly the taste reminded me of high school cafeteria food, which is ironic because that's how you pick up ur food. Not to mention I paid almost $50 for me and a friend of mine and all we had was 2 slices of pizza, a chicken platter, 2 slices of cake, and 2 coca colas. I have come here several times to watch shows and haven't tried their food but a couple of times. Fighting the urge to be a creature of habit I gave them a try again and I'm happy that I did. One thing I noticed is that they have a craft beer lounge that is a little separated from the busyness of the show area. Based on that feature, I'm sure that's why they have a wider range of beer to chose from here than the other dining areas in the park. I had the Sampler meal that had 3 types of sausage that came with mashed potatoes or stuffing with gravy, green beans and a dinner roll. I enjoyed the sausages but was not a fan of the stuffing and gravy, I should have gotten the mashed potatoes. But if you like celery in your stuffing then you'll like theirs. Added bonus about this dining experience is that you get to watch the show while you munch and enjoy some tasty beer. read more

I visited Busch Gardens Christmas Town on December 23rd, 2019 in Williamsburg, VA. I haven't been in awhile due to moving to the West Coast. Every time I did visit I enjoyed myself. This time it was nice to go with friends and family that I haven't seen in awhile. During this visit, the shows were great, the actors were wonderful, rides were fun, and of course the hot cocoa was delicious! However, I did have an unusual experience while eating at Das Festhaus around 2:30pm. There was an older man working the bar/beer area. Due to a very minuscule crack in my ID, he refused to serve me a beer. I just found this very unusual since my ID was accepted at the airport and bars that I had/have visited. Due to this experience I have decided to write a Christmas poem. Please enjoy. This is a little sad to write, but Das Festhaus just isn't what it used to be. I remember the shows being awesome and the food being tasty... but on my recent visit I just wasn't impressed. As a pescatarian trying to eat healthy, the food options are very limited. But I knew that going in, so I stuck with a side salad and also opted for the most ginormous pickle I've seen in quite some time. My fiancé and I split the pickle since it was so massive. He also went with a salad, but his was loaded up with nuts, craisins, feta, and mandarin oranges. Nothing spectacular, but I wouldn't have expected such a colorful salad at BG! The upside to Das Festhaus is that it offers a cool escape on a sweltering day. If you go near showtime, it's likely to be packed. The beer selection is probably the best in the park, and they even have hard cider, so it's worth a stop for beverages! You can grab and go, which is probably what I would do next time. read more

Prices are about what is to be expected from amusement park cuisine. That being said, I would like my ridiculously overpriced food to at least be edible. Much of the food was stale, my sausage sampler was so overdoused with vinegar that it was barely edible and my party ended up leaving most of their food on their plates. I have been here three times over the past two years and it has not improved one way or the other. It is basically a huge cafeteria. For what it is the food is OK. If you are going to eat, I recommend the club sandwich or corned beef sandwich (they can feed 2!). Germany's Fest Haus also has one of the biggest pieces of chocolate cake I've ever seen. It is good - for an amusement park. The Fest Haus also has mini pizzas with- or without pepperoni that the kids loved. Out of all the food in BG, the kids like the pizzas the best... :) if you're looking for the lighter food (pizzas, sandwiches), use the line that is all the way to the RIGHT when entering the counter service area. You'll know you're in the right line when you see the huge chocolate cake (black forest?). I don't think you can get the cake at the other main lines, but I can't remember.
