Arriving blurry-eyed from San Francisco at 8am, I could only hope Sofitel would allow me to check-in early. To my great delight, there was 1 room available. Okay, we're off to a good start...
The room was very nice. A bit small, but enough space and if prefer quality over quantity any day. Free wifi was convenient, but connectivity was too slow for streaming so I upgraded to premium wifi. Problem solved.
Next I headed down to breakfast. The buffet is fantastic. Fresh breads, pastries, fruit, coffee, meats, and cheeses. Yum.
Despite promising myself I'd stay awake until at least 6pm, my bed convinced me otherwise. After passing out from 3pm-8pm, I headed down to the basement gym. Solid for a hotel; another box checked.
Next was a shower and dinner. I ate in the hotel restaurant given everything nearby was pretty much closed at 10pm on a Sunday. The fare was quite good and atmosphere outside near the canal was peaceful. I selected the baked veal and opted for a glass of red wine.
Adjusting 9 time zones is never fun, but thank you Sofitel for making it much easier!
