DAV Thrift store was a great asset to our community and veterans, but the big wigs, who of course do not live in our community, and do not have a clue what the store meant for so many people, would rather shut the thrift store down permanently, and rent the building out to whoever and whatever business that wants to rent it. Ridiculous! The DAV store was doing better than ever since the new manager took over at the end of December 2025. The store was clean and organized and they made sure it smelled nice when you walked in with lovely freshly rotated wax pots....effort that made a huge difference. But since April the store has sat empty and closed as they're looking for some random business to move in and make they're own profit. AND THE VETERANS? THE EMPLOYEES WHO LOVED THEIR JOB? THE COMMUNITY? DAV nationals could care less. read more

I absolutely LOVE the DAV thrift store and the new managers and staff! I love to thrift and I always find treasures and the prices are what a thrift store should be, aside from the furniture. I feel like those prices are too high but overall, it's my favorite thrift spot in town. read more

Whenever I visit the DAV store in Salina, my first stop is the jewelry counter at the front of the store. The last several times I have visited the store, I have had to contend with flats of jewelry, priced and ready to place on racks, being held back by the clerk for a man and woman that stand in front of the stacks of jewelry and go through them one by one with a jeweler's loupe. Both the clerk & the couple prevent other customers from accessing anything until they have perused it. (I am usually there before this couple, but the clerk refuses to admit she has any new jewelry until the arrival of these people.) I find this situation offensive and very unfair. read more

I never leave reviews. This place was very well organized, priced very well, overall a great experience.

Whenever I'm in Salina, I have to come by here to see what new things they have in. They consistently beat Goodwill and the other thrift shops in town in terms of the volume of offerings for sale, and have a great selection of books, music & furniture - the three things I'm usually on the hunt for at thrift shops. Always seem to have a slight problem to get someone getting to come to the register when it's time to check out, even with a little bell up front, but other than that it's generally a great experience. read more

The store has definitely been cleaned up in the past couple of years. There is a lot of space for items and browsing is easy. Prices are fair, workers are helpful and friendly. I do wish the current Covid-19 mask mandate was enforced better, as I have seen staff and customers with no masks despite a sign on the door stating that masks are required. The cause is worthy, so I will continue to support the business. read more

I love the dav. They're much more organized than goodwill and have great prices. I just had a baby and don't want to spend a lot of money on new clothes before I lose all my baby weight so I'm thankful for the dav and being able to get nice clothes at a great discount! I love what the DAV stands for, just not this location. It was dirty, smelled bad, and the cart I used was sticky (!). Since there were a plethora of volunteers, maybe they should spend some time cleaning too? There was a bunch of junk no one else wanted (brass fixtures, dirty mattresses, tchtochkes, etc.) and I overheard the volunteers arguing about who gets 1st dibs on donated items. C'mon Salina, you can do better for our vets. #GodblesstheUSA read more

I was looking for a new crock pot to replace one I had for many years but the ceramic pot part had cracked. I am pretty short on money these days so I tried to find something doing the thrift store route. This branch on West Crawford is a very decent store and where I found a excellent crock. The blouse was an actual Crock Pot brand which I was thrilled to find because I that is the brand I like the most. Close parking and the clothing section is well marked. A+ recommendation. Only downside is they close early 5pm or so on open days and I think they are closed on Sunday. read more
