We would frequent the Dave's in Minnetonka when we lived in the West Metro, and we couldn't be more excited to have this one open in our new stomping grounds. I will say that this one is an improvement on all of the issues of the Minnetonka location. When we arrived there was a LONG LINE for the drive thru, but we got front row parking and absolutely no wait to order inside. There is a lot more seating than the Minnetonka location and the parking is easier to access. Service was really great! Not too long of a wait, multiple staff came around to check on us and bus our table when we finished. The interior is fun, eccentric, and colorful! The food is worth all hassle (except there really wasn't any hassle at this new location). Juicy, large serving of chicken, crunchy slaw, and a chewy bun. We did an online order for pickup and got 1 medium 2 tender meal, 2 extra hot and reaper tender meals, & 2 extra reaper tenders. The price is definitely pretty high for the amount of tenders but that being said one tender was worth 2 of canes tenders- they're much larger. They're dry dusted with the spice so my daughter wasn't a huge fan of the powder so I am not sure she would want to get food there again but my husband and I definitely got a surprise with the heat of the reaper tenders! I am extremely gluten sensitive and it was worth it to get to experience that reaper tender 100%. Next time I break my normally rigid gluten free diet I would definitely choose DHC for that reaper tendie. The first time I ever went to a Dave's Hot Chicken, I wasn't super excited, I was a long lasting Popeyes fan, but it did NOT disappoint. I loved the idea of choosing your spice level, and the spice was not small either. The medium level, ( my personal favorite ) was hotter than most "spicy chicken sandwiches" at other places. The chicken sandwich entirely was very different from other places. Still had the fried flavor, but wasn't super fried all together, instead of being greasy, and crispy, this chicken tasted strongly of paprika! I loved this style, the flavor was just perfect, I never thought that that flavor could be so unique and tasty. The fries are perfect too. So crispy with the same paprika seasoning that just makes my taste buds sing. The crunchy pickles and slaw on the sandwich added a nice counter balance to the spicy heat of the chicken. I also loved Daves sauce. It has a nice tang flavor, and is similar to canes sauce, but not nearly as overpowering. I always take many packets of the sauce afterwards to use at home for my own food. The service was good! Every time I've been there the order has been right, and tasty. It takes a good amount of time to come, about the time you'd expect for that quality of food. You can tell it wasn't sitting under a heat lamp for hours like most fast food places. The ambience was great too. Ok, here me out. I used to think Raising Cane's was the best chicken franchise in the area. That changed when I went to Dave's Hot Chicken. This was my first experience with them. The next was the combos which don't include a drink and range from $10-$14. Finally the food was average at best with the only highlight being the very crispy krinkle fries.
