I've driven past this establishment several times located across from the Oakland University campus on the west side of Squirrel rd. I finally found the time to stop in and sample a couple of items in their menu. I ordered their 1 slider with 1 chicken tender meal with a side of Mac and cheese. Even though I was hungry I ended up taking home 3/4 of the tender and half of the Mac n cheese side. I ordered the sandwich "hot" and the tender "medium" for the spice level. I enjoy spicy-hot food so I found the level of the hot sandwich tolerable. I don't think I could handle the two higher spice levels available. The size of the chicken sandwich filet and the tender were really generous. Served with their proprietary sauce and pickle slices, made for a very tasty meal. I'd put their chicken sandwich up against the other top-rated sandwiches from notable players. Tasty, crispy and served on perfect bun with pickles. I love Dave's Hot Chicken! I'm so glad they opened a location close to me, since the one I was going to was off Big Beaver. What's even funnier is there's also a new chick Fil A in the same parking lot. The benefit of Dave's Hot Chicken? They're open on Sunday! The locations set up like all the others, so you order at the counter and then they call your number out when the orders ready. I really like the food here because it's actually good. I usually get the # 4, which is a chicken tender sandwich with fries an a drink. I usually stick with the mild or lite mild spice, otherwise it's overpowering. I've stopped in here a few times to pick up orders and was pleasantly surprised that you can get your food NOT spicy. I thought everything was spicy. So, I came back in one day to place an order to see what the hype was about. I got 2 big ole, juicy, chicken fingers with a side of fries. The fries were over seasoned; the chicken, not seasoned at all. The chicken was cooked to perfection though; they were very juicy and huge but they had absolutely no flavor. I said no spice, not, no flavor! SMH. The fries were over seasoned so I just combined it with the chicken and ate my food. I really enjoyed my slushy. I got two of them mixed together and it had just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. Customer service was great! Wait time was decent for such a busy time. I got my food pipping hot. I am so excited that a Dave's opened up so close to us! I love this location, so convenient. I love the size. The one in Troy is so small and narrow without that many places to sit. This one has a large dining room, and even though we ordered to go, I would definitely come back here to eat dine-in. I love the fun Oakland University art on the walls. We are Grizzly's at heart and fans of OU, so nice tribute. The people working here were pleasant and helpful. I ordered a two slider meal with mild and medium, and two slider meal no pickles slaw on the side add cheese, a four mini slider meal, and a cauliflower tender on the side to try it. Luckily we checked our meal before leaving, the slider meal with the cheese added did not have the cheese. They were very kind, not only did they fix the meal, they offered a slushy as we waited and it really took no time at all. This seems like a very popular spot. Although there were not tons of people, they had a monitor with online and meal app ordered and I could see a lot of people were getting food, which is good. I want a place I enjoy to be popular and stick around. The food is great! I cannot believe how good it was, and how hot and crispy it stayed since I had to drive home during rush hour. It was still so fresh and so delicious. I personally got the two normal sliders, one mild and one medium. I can never tell which is which and should just get both medium next time, but I like getting different spice levels, because the batter and crispness seems to have a slightly different consistency. and that cauliflower tender? It was sooo good! Amazing. it was huge! The size of the entire box. It was so crispy, it might over take the Cheesecake Factory cauliflower. I would definitely order it every time if I have the means. So, with the two slider meal and the one cauli tender, they give you so much food, it turned out to be three meals in all, so they are a large portion and very filling. This was my second time trying Dave's Hot Chicken. I was unimpressed with the other location I tried, but I decided to give the new location a chance. I placed a mobile order and not only was it ready on time, but I was greeted and taken care of right away! The staff is so friendly. There is a lot of seating at this location, too! Dave's was meh. Over spiced or under spiced chicken. Bread is bland. Fries were good. They don't serve ranch or honey mustard. You can only get their Dave's sauce, ketchup, or honey. That is a let down. Diet Coke was lacking syrup. Staff and service was standard. With so many chicken options, I probably won't be back. read more

Spent 17.96 on one slider, 1 side of Mac and cheese and 1 small strawberry shake. I was overcharged on the shake by 2 dollars. Was told that the amount of food would be more than adequate to be full. Couldn't be further from the truth, not a huge eater but that wouldn't have filled up a small child. Food was ok but for almost 18 dollars I should not have to stop and get more food elsewhere. Wish I could leave a zero for service. Ordered online, said ready in 8 minutes but it took 26 minutes. The staff was making orders randomly and no customer service.
