Not beat up like he said
    Daniel G.

I wish I could do zero stars. I brought in some shoes that were busting add some stitching. These were some old nostalgic Nikes of mine. I thought of the idea to take them to A cobbler get them fixed instead of trying to use shoe glue to fix them myself. For some reason I just assumed that they would be sewn and they would look good if I'm paying for a professional to repair them. When I arrive to pick them up they had giant globs of black glue that's splotchy and not even covering the problem areas. I am so regretful that I took them here I wish I just took them to someone else or tried to repair them myself had I known this is the route of repair. The whole shop just reeked of shoe glue it looks like it's his favorite toy. I did not give permission to fix it like this and it's permanent, these shoes are going in the trash now. In my opinion you should call the customer if you decide to go glue crazy instead of stitching it properly. I told the older gentleman working that I was unhappy with this and really surprised at the work and he still charged me full $30. Not only Were the shoes ruined but the man was very confrontational about it saying that the shoes we're not gonna be danced in and that they were very beat up. Disrespectful. I will be calling my bank to do a chargeback. If you want to ruin your shoes take them here.

Both shoes have lots of bushy strands of string like this.

I brought in an older pair of Allen Edmonds for re-sole. Based on many reviews I read, I was sure I'd be happy with the result! Unfortunately I got them back and they're pretty rough. Not a lot of care went into them. Lots of open strands and missed stitches, and looked very sloppy on the welt and on the outsole. There's also a dab of some light colored epoxy/glue in the eyelet area. These shoes are not my best, I have much more costly pairs and they will not come here, though. Very sad. Being a cobbler is not a common profession by any stretch, but the ones still operating should be competent enough to properly re-sole a pair of shoes. This is so disappointing.

I brought in my free bird boots to get their sole repair because it look like a good place since it had great reviews. When I came to pick them up the guy had fix the sole but also painted them without my permission. Then the lady that was working there said it looked good and the straps can cover the uneven paint job. She just said there is nothing she can do. She was then speaking Chinese talking about me with the other coworkers. She didn't even apologize. Do not bring your shoes here to repair unless you want them to mess them up.

I came home with boots that had loose threads where it was meant to repaired/stitched.

I went to Dave's Repair shop based purely off of Yelp reviews, it is a much-loved business! Sadly, my overall experience as a first-time customer was between average and below-average. I felt I was paying a premium price for my shoe repair, a price higher than I've paid in the past for similar repairs (waterproofing and stitching), although the price may be appropriate for the years of experience that exists in this place of business and its customer following. Dave is kind, but I can tell he focuses on speed and efficiency of his service over friendly chit chat. No harm in it, it just felt important to mention. They had my shoes ready in a week, and unfortunately, I did have to ask for some touch ups the moment I held them. The stitching wasn't completed, and the thread was a different color than my boot (white vs. brown). The shine/waterproofing wasn't thorough. These issues inherently disappointed me, but the flip side is that Dave took care of those issues immediately while I was waiting. Although, I would've appreciated a little more mindfulness, because I came home with black fluid on my fingers...which I found on my shoe, on top of the white thread, that was supposed to be brown... Also, I came home with boots that had loose threads where it was meant to be stitched... Overall, the price was fair, the customer service was fair, and the repair service was below-average.

    JT Leather Crafter

I looked for someone to repair 3 pairs of Italian leather boots. 2 pairs were new or almost new…read moretall boots, but the shaft was too tall and needed to be reduced 2 or 3 inches. 1 pair had a strap that was wearing out and needed to be tightened. Jen did a terrific job on everything, and the boots all look better than new. Really beautiful work done timely, at a fair price.

I do not write reviews like this lightly, but my experience with JT Leather Crafter was poor enough…read morethat I feel obligated to warn others. I paid $80 for Jen to repair the handles on my bag. Within 28 days of receiving it back, the handles were already falling apart and began failing upon first use. Instead of using leather in the correct color, she used the wrong color and painted over it, which is not what one would expect from a professional repair. This was particularly upsetting because she charged me 25-50% more than the prices advertised on her website, citing increased material costs, and then proceeded to take shortcuts and use the wrong materials anyway. The issue was not limited to the quality of the work. The repair also took weeks longer than originally quoted. I was understanding about that delay because Jen said she was dealing with a personal emergency. But when the repair almost immediately began to fail, I requested a refund. She refused. Instead, she initially suggested that I drive the bag back to her home so she could attempt the repair again, which would have required over an hour of driving on my part. Since my husband and I are in the middle of a major move, this made that proposal particularly unreasonable. Only after I objected did she offer to cover shipping. By then, my confidence in her work was gone. I had no desire to send the bag back, and only agreed because I no longer had the time or energy to continue a completely unnecessary debate over an $80 repair that had already failed. What followed was an exhausting exchange in which she remained far more committed to defending her "policy" than to resolving a problem she had created. At one point in her extended messages, when I explained that I wanted a refund because having to go to the post office to send the bag back for another repair attempt would be very difficult, she responded, "I have nothing to do with your situation on moving to a different state." Later, she criticized me for not showing enough sympathy for her personal emergency, even though I had shown her nothing but understanding in my earlier messages. In fact, I had written, "I'm sorry you're dealing with so much right now and I completely understand. Please take care of what you need to, and whenever it's ready I'll come by and pick it up." What became clear is that Jen expects customers to extend grace and make allowances for her personal circumstances, but is unwilling to show the same consideration when someone else is in a difficult situation. During this exhausting back-and-forth, she repeatedly defended her refusal to refund the money, even though the repair had already failed. When I finally told her I was done discussing it, she continued messaging me until I explicitly asked her to stop. The most telling part of this experience was not just the poor workmanship. It was the complete unwillingness to take accountability afterward. Anyone can make a mistake. What matters is how they handle it when their work falls apart. In this case, the answer was excuses and refusal. Small businesses often ask customers to value craftsmanship and personal service. That cuts both ways. If you want people to support a small business, you also have to provide competent work and fair customer service. I did not receive either. The bag finally came back after Jen's second attempt to repair the handles, and, once again, the workmanship is subpar. The color is still wrong, and each handle was supposed to have a double leather strap--something I explicitly told her when I dropped the bag off. Instead, she only added a single leather strap to each handle. I would never use JT Leather Crafter again, and I would strongly encourage anyone considering leather repair in the Denver area to look elsewhere. I would rather pay someone else to redo the repair properly than deal with this business a second time. In summary, Jen's ethical failures are threefold: she accepted payment for a repair she did not actually deliver, she attempted to shield herself behind a policy that does not absolve her of responsibility for defective work, and then she shifted the cost and inconvenience of her own mistake onto me, the customer.

They did a really good job repairing my sandals. I had no tread left (my shoes were worn completely…read moresmooth on the bottom!) and the straps on the side were starting to wear away. As you can see from the photo, they replaced my tread on the bottom of my shoes and repaired my straps. I think I'll get some more years out of these, which is great! Repair time was pretty good too - they can get backed up, but I dropped these off on Saturday and they were ready by Wednesday. I think the damage was relatively easy to repair, so that might have been a contribution to the quick turn-around. I'll be bringing in my boots this weekend - I am definitely pleased with the results of my sandals and my boots also need their tread replaced.

TLDR: expensive, slow, low-quality repairs…read more Roughly 6 months ago I had my shoes repaired here I had a terrible experience. I was inspired to finally write this review because the sole of my shoe has since fallen clean off so my frustration is renewed. I'm no expert, but I don't think 6 months should be the lifespan of a shoe repair. I brought in a pair of oxford docs to be polished and resoled. Notably, there was a crack in the midsole that I requested they repair (I was hoping that they would replace the whole sole but literally just some glue would suffice). They charged me nearly 100 dollars, did not offer me a receipt, and told me they'd call me in about 2 weeks when they were finished. Two weeks came and went and they did not call. So I called them. They stated they did not have any shoes matching my description and asked for information from the receipt (which they never gave me!). Eventually they did find my shoes, but they took another week contact me again. When they did, they told me they had finished my shoes but used the wrong sole, so they would have to redo them. When I finally went in to pick them up, they had totally ruined the finish (gross, thick, gelatinous looking polish), didn't even resole the shoe. They had simply glued new treads on and entirely ignored the crack. I understand that docs can be tricky to resole properly but if they were not able to do what I asked for then they should have a) been up front and b) not charged me 100 dollars. I really regret not saying something....
