They did the decorating of the main function room for my wedding, and they quite literally transformed the place. I remember talking to Rachel, one of the co-directors of the company about some ideas I originally had for a decoration theme, and she got so excited I thought she was going to burst - this was my first clue that not only do they do thier job very well, they absolutely love it. The creativity and imagination that goes into thier work is just fantastic. No job is too big, and no detail is too small. As wedding expenses go, don't expect them to be deadly cheap - nor are they heart-stoppingly expensive either - but you get what you pay for with these guys, good quality work. I really do feel my wedding would have been a little less special without thier input. They are flexible too, tailoring the package to suit the needs of the space, the couple, and the budget. And you would hardly know they are even there, they slip in and out and suddenly the job is done. They not only do weddings, but any sort of event that you might have in mind. We don't normally enjoy having our photograph taken but they kept the posed photographs to a bare minimum and we enjoyed every minute. The staff and owners of Larchfield were incredibly accommodating and helpful and made our day totally perfect. Anyways, having been approached by a Venture representative whilst out shopping one day, and given a 'free' photo session voucher and photo package, my family and I decided to book an appointment for my mum's big birthday. I usually *never* stop for these people - they annoy the life out of me - but I was caught unawares this time. I am glad I was though. We booked our appointment and headed to the Lisburn Road for our photo shoot. Since it was my mum's birthday, I had decided to bring copious amounts of balloons. The studio looked like 'Fun House' by the time I was done with it... The photographer was quite possibly one of the charming people I have ever met. Really lovely and friendly. She took numerous photos of us - all together, my sister and I, individual ones, mum and dad, pictures with the balloons (hurrah!)...and boy, was it fun. Pose after pose...every girl's dream really. Even though he didn't let on, my dad had a ball too. We were called back a week or two later to choose our free photo. Which we got. Plus two individual ones of myself and Joanne, which were super expensive, but really quite stunning. The three pictures now take pride of place in our dining room - a cheerful reminder of a delightful evening out. Undoubtedly the best bit of the whole experience was when my mum had a visitor round and brought her into the dining room. The girl glanced at the pictures, instantly asking, "Are those two girls models?" You can imagine my mum's retort. This didn't sway the visitor though. "They should be", affirmed she. I hate things like this! They are always awkward, with pointlessly well dressed people smiling aimlessly in the direction of the camera. But here they do things differently. Encouraged to dress casually, they let us just run around and do what we want whilst they almost documented the whole thing. It was a fantastic experience. The photos turned out fantastically and we really do look like we having lots of fun which gives them a more real feel compared to the usual static images of faces. Being to young to be aware of the cost I'm not sure how much it was, but according to other reviewer who have been in more recent times, it seems reasonable for the service offered. If your going to get something as cheesy as a family photo done, then you might as well enjoy yourself as well!

Now the garden is breathtaking with a fountain in the center. Along the garden paths are seating areas. You can view the mountains and all of Belfast from the garden. I wasn't impressed with the inside of the castle. It was very empty and not a single sign of any historical information. I saw some staff around the grounds, but tours were not offered. I would have loved to learn more about this castle but was grateful for the views.

The manor house is set on the grounds of the Ulster folk park, however it is not open to the public as part of the tourist attraction. The stunning venue is set up high, with magnificent views over Belfast Lough from the grounds behind the house where guests enjoyed a glass or two of pimms and an ice cream served from a vintage bicycle cart, complete with vintage server. Michael was the perfect host, ensuring our day passed without hiccup and gently guiding the day along. He even gave us a lift to the Culloden afterwards (which sounded great till I tried to get in a regular car with my dress!) The food was amazing, with the venue going over and above to create a bespoke menu for all food loving couples. Not a scrap remained uneaten! We had free rein of the full house for our whole day and were given the day before to decorate to our hearts content - only if no wedding the day before I imagine! Could not have found a venue more suited to me. It was everything I wanted and more. I cannot emphasize enough that it is a must see for all newly engaged couples. You won't look back!!
