Every time I have gone into Mike's Camera, everyone I've had contact with was extremely helpful,…read morekind, courteous, and knowledgeable. Several years ago I purchased a box to have my very old photos scanned and put on a thumb drive. It took me years to sort through thousands of pictures of my son birth through graduation from high school. I frequently stopped in with questions about which pictures could be copied because of copyright laws. Sara, who does the tedious work of scanning everyone's precious memories helped me many times with great patience when I had questions. I once showed her a picture that was very important to me of my son and me swimming with a dolphin in Florida and I asked her if I needed to call the place in Florida to get permission to have it copied. She told me yes and then said, "Let me try and call them right now for you." She called them and got the permission that day so this special picture could be scanned and added to the thumb drive. Who does that? Who would take the time from their busy work day to personally call to get permission for a customer for one picture. Sara, that's who would do it! She loves what she does and she takes a personal interest in each person's pictures knowing how important it is to preserve these memories for each family. She is a very important employee at Mike"s Camera and she is just a very special person with a kind loving heart.

I took a class with Simon based on a Deal Of The Day coupon (50% off) for a 6-hour Landscape…read morePhotography session. Well, it turned out to be almost a 9 hour class (but no one was complaining). Simon and I spoke on the phone a few times the weeks leading up to this past Saturday to iron out the details of the class. He said he liked to keep the group small, and also mentioned it was okay we didn't have a DSLR camera (we had an advanced Point & Shoot). Though early mornings and late afternoons are the best times to photograph most subjects, he was more concerned about the thought processes and techniques applied in landscape photography; therefore, he said the earliest we'd meet would be 8AM. He let us know what to wear and bring (like lunch). Four students met at Garden Of the Gods on Saturday morning, and Simon was already there with handouts. The initial discussion began with must-have items that he usually packs on his forays (which was more than just camera gear), how to use them, and how to assess and feel the environment of the subject before you even take the camera out of the bag, etc. In fact, most of the class was focused on looking at familiar objects and landmarks in different ways and taking the time to understand the subject. There was no clicking away in this class. In fact, we students each took maybe about 15-20 shots throughout the session. I think I spent most of my time just thinking through what he said and framing my subjects as best I could. I was able to borrow one of his extra DSLR's for an extra fee, but it gave me an opportunity to utilize the technology. In the afternoon, we moved onto N Cheyenne Canon to try our hand at shooting streams and waterfalls. Afterwards, he invited us to his studio where we all gave each other a critiquing session, which I found very helpful. He made sure to point out all the good elements of our photographs along with the bad elements, and allowed each of us to provide feedback to our peers. He also showed us some tweaks we could make using certain photoshop programs. Simon was a very effective communicator and instructor. He asked probing questions as to why we chose a particular subject, how we decided on the angles and positions with which to shoot from, and gave us tips throughout the entire process. I think what I like about him was he used this class as a time to spread his passion to other people. Like any true master of a craft, he wanted to pass on his learned skills and expressed appreciation whenever a student's end product echoed his teachings. It was also obvious he used this time to meet people in the community; as a sole business owner whose art would often lead him into isolated environments for long periods of time, he was eager to talk to people - therefore, there was talk of him starting a 4-week long class along with a once-a-month critiquing session. If you feel you have plateaued on your landscape photography skills, give Simon a call. Admire Photography will help you push past that block and rediscover your passion!

Sarah is so much fun to work with!…read more My girlfriend and I recently moved to the area from the east coast and were looking to take some photos with all the great outdoor scenery nearby. Luckily Sarah was a friend of my girlfriend and she was more than happy to take some photos of us. If you're reading this review, you cannot go wrong hiring Sarah. We had some ideas of what we wanted to do (couples photos, yoga poses, etc.), but Sarah brought much more creative input to the table. There are no annoying delays that you sometimes experience with other professional photographers. She is very talented at offering suggestions for poses, facial expressions, and actions while also taking great pictures of not just the final pose but the process leading up to it. And, in my opinion, those photos often are better than their final pose counterparts so I really appreciate that she takes these. Sarah keeps it fun, light, and most importantly of all, allows you to be your natural selves. So far we've done 2 different photoshoots with Sarah and we couldn't be happier. She has taken upwards of 200-300+ photos each time and sends us plenty of highlights to use as we'd like. We've framed some of our favorites for decorating our house and have also included others in our Christmas cards that we send to friends and family. Do yourself a favor and hire Sarah!
