He has such a calm spirit and really has a natural way of teaching. He also has an excellent musical education and background. Our son keeps improving his skills and we owe that to his experience at Music Lab. He also took an interest in guitar and bass. He first started on guitar and then moved to bass lessons. His bass teacher is also incredible. I think he could play and teach just about any instrument. He is very calm and intentional with his lessons. He is another good fit for our son. One of our favorite things about Music Lab, beyond the lessons, are the semi-annual music showcases that they put on for their students and their guests. It's the perfect way to showcase the students' new skills and highlight their growth through the years. The owners, teachers, and staff are all so supportive. Music Lab also puts on great summer camps with fun and talented teachers. Last year, our son did intermediate drum camp, and this year, he tried a musical theater camp. Kim's little homey cottage is located right next to the Sierra 2 Center in East Sacramento and there is street parking available. The class for my daughter's age group is on Tuesdays from 5-7pm with 1 hour being for singing/voice lessons and the other 1 hour being for dance lessons. There are 4 classes a month essentially for under $200. Kim was very professional and great with the kids! It was fun to see new and returning students in her class and to see who was comfortable and who was still coming out of their shell. My daughter had a great time at the trail class, but she currently does another activity on Tuesdays so the class for her age group isn't a good fit for us right now, but we hope to come back and join Kim's class in the future. The inside has such a cool relaxed music studio vibe, I think I spent most of the time walking around and checking everything out from the different rooms to all of the awesome artwork on the walls. I even love their giant wall where all the kids sign and doodle on it! When we arrived, one of the owners welcomed us and gave us a tour. I love that they have glass doors so you can see other students practicing everything from drums, to bass, to singing! As much as you'd think all of the noise could be a bit much, I actually found it relaxing and liked hearing all the different instruments. My daughter's singing coach (Cale) was very patient and kind and she left even more excited to join than when we arrived. When we left, the receptionist gave us a flyer with the pricing and class options for my daughter's age - I thought it was a bit steep at first, but it includes 8 classes a month - 2 a week - 1 one on one session for 30 minutes and 1 group lesson for an hour and a half. Everyone there was so nice and you can tell the coaches/teachers love their job and what they can offer to these kids! The coaches offer everything from bass, guitar, drum, singing, and even keyboard/piano. They also offer summer camps, workshops and they even have the kids put on concerts! We will definitely be joining soon and I can't wait to see where School of Rock takes my daughter's confidence! Check them out!

Eli is so skilled at creating instant community in his classes. He creates a safe space for us all to be vulnerable with one another. And in some ways - singing and performing in front of others is super scary and requires you to be super vulnerable in order to connect with your performance piece. The creation of this community from the first class allows all of us to immediately feel comfortable with one another so that we can get to work and support each other every step of the way leading up to our concert.
