So... for some reason I was brought up shopping at Myer (or Grace Bros back in the day). There was an unspoken rule, relating to Catholicism and working-class ethics, that meant shopping at DJ's never really happened... go figure? Now I'm all "grown up" (debatable) and have a penchant for rule-bending... well... I still shop at Myer... David Jones is just too white, straight and clinical for my tastes. Walking into the stores feels like walking into my grandmother's "formal" reception area (aka the clean-and-unused room).... that is... except for the food court! DJ's food court has long been a favorite of mine! The olives... the cheese... the champagne... the bread... the fruit.... it's everything I love in a store! Deliciousness! A while back, they introduced little areas in the food court where you can stop and have lunch and I've never looked back. It's bustling and a bit like eating in a supermarket... but it's such a treat! I've made a tradition out of treating myself to cheese, champagne and olives after every major shopping expedition (pretty much the major holidays... when I'm forced to do the shopping thing). So... DJs overall gets 2 stars from me... but the food court gets the full 5! read more

Love their food halls here. You can sometimes buy a piece of grilled fish with chops for only $5 here sometimes. Love the juice shop, mammoth strawberries dipped in milk chocolate for only $3 a pop. You can buy a pack of six for only $10. Very helpful customer service area for David Jones American Express cardholders near the home wares section. read more

You can eat-in or take away. Sushi looks very good enough and looks authentic. However, they deal with not only Japanese food but also Chinese food such as deep-fried dumplings and so on. So I am not sure what is their concept of this place. The only counter is available but not tables and chairs. Prices are very reasonable and sushi display looks very neat and nice. I have been here before being yelp member but since being yelp member this is the first time to visit this sushi bar. Today, Thursday afternoon around 5pm, the counter was pretty much full. Thursdays are late night shopping in Sydney and shops are open till late like 9pm, usually shops close around 6pm. read more

I frequent the Food Hall at David Jones Bondi Junction regularly, especially the fishmonger. The service is friendly and the fish is always truly fresh. My husband loves oysters and he always tells me that he is really happy with the freshness and quality. Last week I felt like some blue-eye cod. They had run out of the fillets so the nice man serving said - if you can wait ten minutes, I will fillet a fish for you - . So I wandered around for ten minutes looking at some of the other stores in the food hall, bought some really fresh fruit salad at the fruit and juice bar and returned to the fishmonger. The fillets were ready for me. I cooked them that night and they were fantastic. read more

Went to the bobbi brown makeup stand at bondi in David Jones to get mine and my friends makeup done for formal, horrible service !!! Even though we booked with the manager the rude makeup artist refused to do both of our makeup and even refused to ring the manager despite our requests. Imagine the world without David Jones. The Aussie department store landscape sans DJs would be vacuous, unsophisticated, and heaven forbid, dominated by Myer. I like to think of DJs as a little bit of Barneys in Sydney. Multiple levels of fashion, backed by legendary DJs service (most of the time), and an entire level of upmarket as it gets food court to rest your weary feet and re-fuel mid shop. My favourite mid shop pit stop is the Champagne and Oyster Bar. Hello Moet and seafood. Cosmetics, shoes and fashion galore has every female covered from her head to her feet, and in today's patchy retail climate, there's always a sale bargain hiding somewhere in there. The beauty of BJ DJs is the size - it's big enough to carry everything a girl's heart could possibly desire, yet small enough feel somewhat intimate for a department store. Not sprawling and discombobulating as many can be. The change rooms could fit a rugby team inside them, and they're wrapped with mirrors to you can ensure every angle looks its fashionable best. And the lighting is flattering, unlike DJ's obnoxiously bright sister... yes, that four letter word again. Extremely confused as to how DJs lost the likes of Sass and Bide to you know who. What's the retail world coming to? Might have to reach for a bubbles at the Oyster bar to recover. read more
