A good community center offers varied opportunities for its residents of all ages. A shining example of a great community center is the Village Multipurpose Center adjacent to Sunrise's City Park and Village Elementary School. Constructed 2008 at a cost of 5.5 million dollars, the building was designed by SRS, a Zyscovich company. The Village Multipurpose Center was a result of a partnership between the City of Sunrise and the School Board of Broward County. This master planned multipurpose complex was created in a response to a community need for recreation, education, and extracurricular activities. The Village Multipurpose Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The center has a multipurpose gymnasium, five instructional classrooms, administrative spaces, restroom facilities, and a Little Free Library. Membership is free to all city residents and memberships for non city residents are available for a fee. Some of the programs offered here include adult Indoor walking, open play basketball, youth basketball, youth nights, story time, sidewalk chalk, Tunes N Trucks a music and food truck event, SOCA a step, dance ,and aerobics class, and fit kids and teens. The Village Multipurpose Center is a wonderful recreational resource that offers a diverse array of programs and amenities for residents of all ages. Now it is even better with the opening of the Village Art Plaza right outside its doors. The Village Art Plaza is a new event space and sculpture garden. This gorgeous outdoor space has a stage, sculptures, murals, and plenty of seating. The Village Art Plaza was designed to be a place where the community can gather for cultural events like a farmers market and food truck nights. With the opening of the art plaza, the City of Sunrise can easily stage community events inside and outdoors. The staff was incredible. I felt welcomed and comfortable from the time I stepped in. Everyone had a friendly smile. I was offered help but various employees. They were knowledgeable. They point me right to the area I needed to be. The parking was a little complicated. The library shares parking with the other city buildings. Everyone parks all around. There was not enough parking spots.

I love coming to this library. Instead of paying for Netflix, standing in front of a Redbox…read moremachine, going to the nearest Barnes & Nobles, or trying to figure out who has the best prices for CD's; I just go to the Hollywood library and borrow everything from books, ebooks, audio books, music, and movies...for FREE! The only thing you would have to worry about is the $1.00 fine they charge each day for each item that is overdue. I like the fact with having a library account, I can go on the website and check out any new book, CD, and DVD release. If the Hollywood branch does not have the item I want, I can put the item on hold and if there's a copy of that item available at any other Broward library, it will be sent to the library of my choice for pickup. There is no limit on the amount of books or CD's to borrow (2-3 weeks), but if you want to borrow DVD's, the limit is 10 (1 week). Besides borrowing books, CD's, and DVD's, the library also provides bus passes, faxes, copying and printing (15 cents each). They have four sections of computers for adults, teens, and young children. You have to first reserve a computer, which gives you a 60 minute session. You can only reserve a computer twice, which sucks cause I normally spend more than two hours on the internet. If you're smart, you'll walk in with your laptop and use the library's free Wi-Fi. There are also four 15 minute computers that needs no reservation for people who want to go on the internet for minor, quick things like check their email, a quick tweet, print, or download, or just check their facebook page. The noise level in the facility is usually quiet until after 2pm. That's when the school children arrives and then it becomes noisy. The staff are very friendly and are willing to answer any questions you have. It's like my little sanctuary away from home.

There are study rooms, youth service program room, and meeting room. There are large collections of foreign print materials, CDs, and film. There plenty of reading materials; I love their paperless books via the Libby app. We specifically went there for the children's section which is on the smaller side. There was a small Lego set and some chairs. They offer many baby and toddler programs. Overall, a great library with many resources for people from all walks of life.

The library was closed for a few months for some remodeling, but I didn't notice any huge changes when I visited today. This business is located amongst a couple of other city of Sunrise government businesses. The library has a dated look, but seems to be otherwise clean and kept up. There are a couple of sections with some comfier chairs. The library was fairly quiet when I quickly visited mid-day. When we lived in Northern California our library was a popular hangout for the homeless population, but this place was much emptier. They do have some computers available for public use. You can also pay to have some Items printed. There is a sizable section of DVDs to rent. They also have a couple of quiet study rooms, some magazines and a new book section. I recommend going online and reserving your books ahead of time. It's free to use the library, so I can't really complain too much.

Came to the Clubhouse of this private community on this past Saturday, March 24th, to celebrate the…read moreunion of my boss and her husband. To get here you passed through a security gate and there was ample parking in front. At the club house there was a beautiful lap pool, tennis courts, basket ball court, and an impressive children's playground. Of course Nicole and I were there for the wedding. The ceremony took place at the gazebo which had views of water all around. The weather was perfectly mild with clear skies, a joyous time to celebrate a life decision you try to make work for a life time. The DJ played soft celebratory music which just about choked me up when I saw my boss being accompanied by her father down the aisle. The sermon, by a retiring Lutheran priestess, was complete and well rehearsed. The catering company escapes me but they also did a good job. Dinner entrees included a choice of Chicken Alfredo Fettuccine, steak, salad, rice, steamed veggies which paired with an all you can drink bar. The different playgrounds they have for kids of this community. The security they have at the gate. Always clean and organized. Signs everywhere ... and as my uncle says, the HOA it's not too much. Enorme y hermosa comunidad en Miramar. He estado viniendo aquí por más de cinco años y me gustan varias cosas de esta comunidad hogareña: La vista del lago que parte de su casa tienen. Came for Bingo night! The BINGLO event was fun. The doors open at 6:30 and the bingo game starts at…read more7:00pm. We missed the 1st game but played the 2nd and 3rd with their glow in the dark markers. Got 2 drink tickets and they had light snacks. There is a 4th bingo BONUS game which is filling up the entire bingo sheet and lots of prize possibilities. It's a good charity event and I had a great time.
