Very unprofessional and horrible experience. Dr. Sandak extracted an infected tooth and placed an implant and bone graft on the same day. The implant became infected and I experienced a chronic infection resulting in extensive bone loss over two years. My dentist was monitoring the tooth and finally told me that I needed to remove the implant. He referred me to three different peridontists who ALL said that the procedure done by Sandak was bad practice and did not conform to good dental procedure. One of them was in the very office in White Plains where he practiced. Even he said that the process was wrong. He left the practice and never advised me that he was doing so.This is, again, against all professional conduct guidelines- where a dentist has the obligation to inform his patients if he is leaving the practice. I experience extreme pain and discomfort from his work and had the implant removed. I then had a bone graft done over the last 7 months and finally had the new implant inserted AFTER the bone graft. All three consulting peridontists told me that he should never have done the bone graft and implant at the same time as it was doomed to fail. Do not consider this doctor for any dental work he is unprofessional and incompetent. He cost me more money than I thought possible for one tooth and an extreme amount of pain that lasted for years. If I could write a 0 star review, I would. This periodontist did a gum graft for me at Salt Lake Modern Dentistry. Somehow, he missed coverage on the actual tooth that needed grafting. When I called and asked to see him, he called me back. This was a Friday afternoon. He agreed to come to my dental appointment on Monday to take a look and see what could be done. He assured me there were ways to fix it. Come Monday, he's a no show. Turns out, Friday was his last day with their office. So he knew he would not actually be at the appointment, yet lied to me. Appalling behavior. Not to mention, the gum graft recovery was extremely painful and not something I would've done during the school year as I'm a teacher and need to talk a lot for my job. I asked him about this beforehand and he told me I'd be able to get to work the next day. I was in the worst pain I've experienced for two full weeks. Now, I'll probably have to do it all over again. Unfortunately I started treatment with this doctor but his arrogance and inability to communicate with patients prevented me from continuing mid treatment. I have no complaints about his skills, but as a registered nurse, I did not appreciate how little information was provided about very extensive oral surgery. In addition, he was condescending and lectured me on the very first visit. His office staff was lovely which caused me to give it another few chances , but he literally had a temper tantrum when I requested that he communicate better going forward. I had a GREAT experience today with Dr. Sandak and his entire office. I walked in for my 10:20 appointment at 10:00 and was seen right away. This was my second time there and I did not wait the first time either. Today I had a tooth pulled and an implant placed. I was so scared to have this done since I've had many bad experiences with dentist. When scheduling they told me it would take about 1 hour and to my surprise Dr. Sandak was done in about 40 mins. The doctor and nurse told me I might feel some discomfort in 1-4 hrs and this evening. I feel great! No pain at all! I will return to the office in 10 days to have my stitches removed and then heal for about 3 months before the post is put in. Dr. Sandak was wonderful and I would highly recommend him and his office. read more

I was referred to Dr. Sandak from my regular dentist to evaluate an unusual soft tissue lesion. I had a prior evaluation with another periodontist and that did not go so well. So, I did not know what to expect with Dr. Sandak and I was very anxious. My first encounter was to schedule the appointment. The receptionist was very professional on the phone. I explained my issues and I was able to get an appointment in two days. Was very accommodating of my schedule. Dr. Sandak's office had recently undergone a renovation. My first impression of the waiting area, was very warm, welcoming and professional. Staff at front desk greeted me with smiles and explained what steps would occur during my visit there. Filled out forms, etc. (they have really nice pens!). The Office Manager Krystal, explained financial obligations, etc. Dr. Sandak, introduced himself and offered a firm handshake. I found he has a personality that puts you at ease. Very pleasant and knowledgeable. I explained if he spoke with my referring dentist, he stated he had and was up to speed on my problem. From the beginning of the exam, to the treatment and aftercare instructions, Dr. Sandak and his staff (in the front and in the exam room), answered my questions, took my concerns into account and treated me with respect. Dr. Sandak even called me 9:00 pm that night to see how I was doing!!! This really "blew" me away!! Nice touch to a stressful situation. I would recommend anyone who needs Periodontal work to consider Dr. Sandak. read more

Run!! Do not go to this Dentist. He has a horrible bedside manner. He barely said two words to me. I had major work done and he never followed up with me. The only time his office called was to get my credit card number. Lastly, he never mentioned I was supposed to be taking meds after my surgery. I called 4 days later to say I wasn't healing much and that's when I found out I should have been taking steroids and antibiotics to heal. He never told this to me or my husband who dropped me off and picked me up. A good Dr would call the next day to check I. And make sure I was doing what I needed. Go to Dr. Sandak. Having had several implant procedures performed by him, he is incredibly knowledgeable, caring and understanding. He diffuses any uneasiness you may have by explaining your procedure in layman's terms, making sure you are comfortable. He and his superb staff treat you with care and thoughtfulness from your initial examination to post-op and follow up appointments. As someone who received dental implants at the UCLA Medical Center 25+ years ago, when dental implants were new and only performed in hospitals, I have firsthand knowledge of how the procedure has changed and improved. Dr. Sandak's office did a procedure on my daughter in early 2018. He is an in-network provider for our dental insurance plan. In fall of 2019 I got a bill for the full cost of the procedure. It turns out they did not bill the insurance company within a year so they are now charging me the full cost. This is unethical and outrageous. If their billing office is incompetent I should not be the one to pay. I am fighting it through the insurance company. Dr. Sandak's office has been hostile and rude. Don't go! read more

I went to Dr. Sandak for a consultation for gum grafting on referral from my regular dentist. I have severe gum recession that is occasionally painful. During the consultation, Dr. Sandak was cordial and professional. He assessed my situation, took photographs to document the current state of my gums, and informed me that pricing would follow; after pre-procedural estimate with my dental insurance provider. He provided literature on surgical procedures, including how to prepare before and what to expect following surgery. Following this consultation, I expected to receive a written estimate of the cost and a recommendation for how to proceed with treatment, in layman's terms. What unfortunately happened was I heard nothing for four weeks. When I called Dr. Sandak's office to follow up, I was told by the receptionist that I was to have four treatments (one for each part of my mouth). The first one would be upwards of $8000. Extrapolating that comes to $32-$35,000! I had no idea it was that expensive and was disappointed that my dental insurance does not sufficiently cover the cost. I did some further research on my own and found out that dental insurance in general does not cover the high cost of the gum grafting procedure. Undeterred, I asked for a written estimate and course of treatment. A few days later, I did receive a written statement form Dr. Sandak's office. Unfortunately, it was written in medical jargon. As a non-medical professional, I found it incomprehensible. I did not feel I had sufficient information to make an informed decision, and chose not to pursue the matter further with Dr. Sandak. I have since found another periodontist who takes a more conservative approach, and have not had the need for surgery. The three stars is because Dr. Sandak appears to be competent in his field, having a well-established practice. However, I found Dr. Sandack's approach to be too aggressive for my taste. To date, I have not needed surgery to maintain healthy teeth and gums. read more

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with the Doctor and his staff. I would highly recommend his services. Don't go to Dr. David Sandak. My initial appointment with him, I'll be honest, went well. I actually felt comfortable that he knew what he was doing and felt that he had my best interest in mind and compared to the nightmare it took to get my oral surgery scheduled in the first place, It was a breath of fresh air that my experience was the opposite of what I expected. However every experience with Dr. Sandak after that was a nightmare. He scheduled me for a follow up appointment after my surgery but since I was still feeling a lot of pain, I called in and was given a more immediate appointment. When I went in, my stitches were removed and I felt a lot better except for the pain. When I asked about continuing my pain medication, his questioning of me almost came off as an interrogation as if I was trying to get more opioids even though I said numerous times that I had an old Motrin prescription that I found that was fine..it was demeaning and uncomfortable the way he questioned me. I left there feeling perplexed wondering if that was how he treated all of his patients. He informed me that I should keep the appointment I already had since I was due for the other side of my mouth to be done. I was instructed to take a Valium prior to the appointment. I went to the front desk after to confirm that I would be back for the already scheduled appt. For my next appt. I took the Valium an hour before as instructed and had my husband drive me. I got called in and put in the chair. I waited for a period only to have the front desk rep come to me saying there was a mistake, I was only scheduled for a follow up not a procedure. When I explained what happened at my last visit, the rep apologized saying the doctor made a mistake. They rescheduled me to come in again. I was quite upset having taken a Valium for no reason and then the doctor never came in to address us at all after all the confusion. He basically didn't think anything of it. Didn't admit any fault and never came in to even acknowledge the inconvenience. Having to miss work or have my husband come from his job in the city to drive me was such a major interruption in our day. I was quite disappointed. I rescheduled the appt. The day of my appt. I called to confirm. I asked my husband to drive me once again so of course he came from the city to do so. This time we had our 19 month old as well because my mother could not stay with her which resulted in slight delay. We began heading to the appt. a little late. I took my last Valium as instructed. As we headed over, I got a call from the office informing us that we were late. In my state I did my best to apologize and inform them we were a few minutes away. She stated that the Doctor said we needed to reschedule. My husband asked to speak with the doctor to give us a little flexibility considering what occurred before. I also had already taken the Valium. However the doctor came on the phone quite aggressively. He was rude to my husband, not allowing him to speak. He then told him that I can go to another doctor and hung up the phone. We were in disbelief. I could understand his position...perhaps there was no flexibility on his end but the way he addressed us was so rude and arrogant and completely unprofessional. Needless to say, We will be taking his advice and not returning to him. No one deserves to be treated this way. Both my husband and I are working professionals and when the mixup occurred the previous appt. while disappointed, we were willing to reschedule and try again. So I urge anyone considering him for his services, go somewhere else. Providers should not be rewarded for bad behavior and since there are no boards to report to regarding these types of matters, it's up to consumers like us to do something about it. read more
