I had the great fortune of finding Mr. Anthony Murphy, Esq., to manage my defense with respect to a…read moresmall claims court case I had with a neighbor who was angered because of the trimming of his trees that came over onto my property posing a safety threat. Mr. Murphy put things into perspective for me from the very first meeting I had with him and he immediately put into place a strategy and motion for dismissal based upon the lack of "damage" definition with respect to "property destruction" the plaintiff stated in his lawsuit filing. Inexplicably, the motion was not ruled on by the judge, who preferred to wait until the scheduled trial date for making her decision. Mr. Murphy was dedicated to winning the case for me, and attended several hearings called by the judge, as well as a rescheduling of the trial a total of 3 times dragging out the original trial date 6 months. During this time, Mr. Murphy put together a motion for "Summary for Disposition" outlining the defense with evidence and facts in order that the case be dismissed without going to trial. He urged the judge twice to make a judgement on the disposition and she finally relented, and ruled to dismiss the case. It was Mr. Murphy's excellent guidance through this rather frustrating time of having to deal with an unruly Plaintiff, and questionable judgement from a judge not to consider pre-trial motions for dismissal, which eventually won out in the end. I cannot thank Mr. Murphy enough nor recommend him enough to others needing a legal professional to help them in an array of the different legal services he provides. In fact, I was impressed with Mr. Murphy's legal professionalism due to Mr. Murphy's well written legal documents, responsiveness, and determination.

Their initial response to my inquiry was one of concern, assurance, and how they could help get the demand of the settlement reduced greatly, possibly to paying nothing. However, after I paid their substantial pre-suit flat fee, it immediately became an "autopilot" kind of interaction with Darren. His responses were terse and rarely with enough explanation or context. We never saw any of his communications to the person who was going at us. Ultimately, having no transparency, it amounted to him asking us "How much are you willing to pay?" Given his impersonal brevity, his near unwillingness to explain to us anything being communicated, and his seeming refusal to explain anything about his own thought process -- his communication was subpar in a situation where we needed more clarity. I looked for his recommendations. I asked him many questions. He never gave any explanations beyond three words, and only one recommendation which **I accepted** only to then be told, "The guy isn't backing down, so...." Darren didn't show us anything he was doing to help us understand what Heitner Legal was doing on our behalf. And his communication was the pits. He didn't even explain to us the details of the settlement in plain English. He didn't offer an explanation at all. I don't need a memorandum, but a friendly "OK here's what you're signing essentially...." would have been nice. I would equate Heitner Legal to finding yourself paying high prices at a grocery store where you end up having to bag your own groceries at the same time. EDIT: I have since had a conversation with Darren about the initial version of this review. He has asserted all of the work he did behind the scenes. I maintain being left in the dark during these processes as the client is not the best place to be and does not inspire confidence in the resolution of the settlement.
