Purchased a new DW Home (Cane Island - Quail Park) in April 2020. Our experience with DW Homes is simply deplorable. I feel like this home is a low level spec home. What DW homes does not inform the buyer is the fact that all warranty work is supposed to be done by the contractors who performed the work. I quickly found out that luck needs to be on your side in order to get contractors (i.e. warranty) to actually come back out to your home to perform warranty work. Warranty work is scheduled on weekdays only so plan multiple days off of work in order to sit with people summoned to sub in for the original contractors, it's our experience that many sub-contractors simply "cannot be located" says warranty reps. So much of this home is deceptive and the sub- par craftsmanship hidden and concealed. Example, a peak in the roofline was missing, creating a flat spot that held water, I located the ponding water accidentally by retrieving a frisby from the roof. Another example, cabinets cannot be opened without adjacent doors colliding with each other. Paint overspray was removed with several applications of Acetone, thus stripping the factory finish from the cabinets. HVAC issues basically ignored by offering patchwork and subpar repairs and ignoring the real issues. A rear flagstone patio was added to the purchase of the home and has been a problem from "day one" but today DW's attorney (Ms Strickland) basically acknowledged in writing that the patio problems are tied to lack of homeowner maintenance. The patio subs have been on this patio performing makeshift repairs - at least 10 times. So much more to report, ironically we are up for our one year mark whereby a one year inspection is due. Ms. Strickland (legal counsel) appears to support Hanzelka, Nokes, and the builder on apparently denying proper repairs. Let me first start my summary about our experience with David Weekly Builder and team, we are very dissatisfied with our home so far and feel that we have not been treated in good faith related to our new home purchase. The support of the David Weekly builder's warranty\support team and their willingness to say there is nothing else they can do to address our ongoing Plumbing Issue seems to be a theme with this builder. We also experienced this with the contractor responsible for our home building project, which should have been a red flag to us. When they installed our second level window and it was out of specification or the crown molding which was not the size advertised in the model, his response was we can't do anything more. Needless to say we feel that David Weekly Builders has not acted in good faith with us with regards to resolving our known Plumbing Issues. We have dealt with the warranty manager and his management on this issue and it still exist. We purchased our home November/2019 in Brookshire, Texas we experienced issues and to be fair some normal. For those cosmetic issue the builder has addressed. But the main issue which we were informed not only by one of the plumbers but the warranty manager that it is not isolated to our home only, they will not resolve. We have had this Plumbing Issue since day one. With COVID-19 being ongoing since March we were not open to letting anyone in our home until late Aug. which impacted scheduling of the issue to be diagnosed. Most repairs have been completed but the main issue with our plumbing that David Weekly Builders and their warranty team now determined there is nothing more they can do, so the builders has walked away. Kind of make you feel they have determined our year warranty is up and feel they don't have any obligation to resolve. Given we are experiencing loud water drainage in the walls anytime you flush a toilet or run the shower is unacceptable. David Weekly builders has been out on multiple occasions to try and patch this issue by tie wrapping the plumbing and adding insolation into the inner wall around the pipe's but issue is still there. They have torn walls down and have had to re-sheet rock which was very inconveniencing. This noise occurs in common areas of the house where we entertain guest, all bathrooms and in my office where I work every day and it is quite embarrassing. 1. Master bathroom faucet continues makes a dripping\knocking sound in the walls. 2. Game room 2nd floor bathroom when the toilet is flush you can hear the rumbling water draining on the 1st level in the main entry way just off the kitchen. 3. 2nd level bathroom for the bedrooms when toilet flush or the shower is running the rumbling water can be heard below on the first floor guest room wall and in my office. 4. Powder room bathroom the sink plumbing continues to leak on to the floor staining the hardwood floor. 5. Powder room toilet when flushed makes noise in the walls every time. David Weekly Builders via their warranty manager has informed us that they are done with this issue and tried all they could so consequently they are done. So, with that said we should just live with it and I think that is in poor taste coming from a builder who charges a premium for their homes and claim to be of quality. The patch work they did by inconveniencing us and tearing out our wall to install insulation was a poor effort to address a known plumbing issue. It is now clear to me they were just buying time and had NO intentions on addressing this issue. Keep in mind this loud plumbing issue is not unique to our home so every time the upstairs toilet is flushed the pressure from the water causes the loud grinding sound in the walls. Given that David Weekly Builders and plumber stated we are not the only homeowners that experience these same plumbing problems and their unwillingness to resolve our problem we are left with exploring what other options we have as a consumer. But at the least we plan to make everyone we can aware of our experience and the headaches we have to encounter on a daily basis until we can determine what options are. Given the background and talking to other homeowners that purchased David Weekly homes there seems to be pattern for poor quality and prolonging solving any issues until the warranty period is up. But based on the plumber who they sent to address the issue and David Weekly employee expressing that this is a known issue, I will continue to explore every option I have at my disposal to address the unfair treatment and unwillingness of David Weekly builders. Whether legal, reporting to the State AG office, reporting my issues to builder organizations and continue to post our issues on public forums with other disgruntled homeowners of David Weekly. We will also start posting pictures of the times they had our walls torn out to try and address this known issue. read more

Stay away from DWH !!!!! Worst home buying experience. They closed our home incomplete, promised to finish it two days after closing and its been 3 months and I am still chasing and waiting for people to come and finish the home. They claim to treat everyone fair, but that's NOT true at all. The lights were falling off the ceiling, uneven ceiling throughout the home, poor cabinet quality, cracks in the house, dead trees, crack in the porch glass door, unsteady attic ladder, stove not working for weeks (when it was installed they didn't measure it correctly so they cut through the sides of the cabinets, cut the drawer underneath, cut the quartz stone to make it fit, it was a disaster), drawers don't shut properly, inconsistencies in the backsplash tiles, bathroom tiles were not leveled(took them 4 attempts to fix it and I gave up after that), door frame not cut properly, mirrors not cut to fit the space, paint was a disaster, retaining wall missing stones, broken fence posts, sharp tiles on shower floor, just a few things we had to deal with after closing on a brand new home. They are "fixing" things for the sake of fixing. Things are patched up to call it a day. Have made my peace with so many things in the house after multiple attempts at repair, just because its a never ending job with these guys. Takes at least 3-5 attempts for one thing to be done, and even then you give up and make your peace because you are tired of people in and out of your home. Especially now because we are living in the middle of a pandemic. I have given them about 80plus hours of my time to come fix my BRAND NEW HOME. The joy of buying a brand new home is sucked right out of you with a DWH. Our builder strait up lied to our faces and not only are people higher up covering for his mistakes but they are refusing to do anything for us! You will be happier buying any other but a David Weekly home! read more

If I could give no stars I would. Where to begin, luckily for me and my husband we were able to stop by our new build daily to monitor what these contractors were doing. We would have to report to our builder on every issue that we found so much so that our builder sent us a nasty response to on of our emails after letting him know the wrong garage door was installed. We have attempted to build two homes with them, the first home a pull under occurred because they poured the foundation after it rained but continued to build and ended up cutting a 6x5 chunk out of the garage without telling us. Luckily we have experience with home builds and know that anything regarding foundation "repairs" is not worth the long term issues that could occur so we walked away and they gave us a new lot, same selections but no discount. It was a bigger lot with a lake view and we were actually starting to feel pretty excited again, but the nightmare continued. One mistake after another that we had to manage since DW is more focused on production than producing good quality homes. I walk into the home August 16th and there was water running from the upstairs bathroom through the downstairs on the floor all the way to the kitchen area. Since we knew we could not trust DW we hired our own water restoration company to come out, assess the damage and recommend how to fix. Not sure if DW knows this, apparently they don't, standing water in a home causes MOLD to grow and not the good kind! DW did not open up any of the drywall and let it properly air out even AFTER the water report was sent! 7 days past and we instantly start seeing mold grow on upstairs trim and on the bottom of the vanity upstairs. We are recording all of this, taking pics reporting the issues up to the division president where we were able to finally land a meeting with the president, PM and sales consultant. We caught the contractors painting over mold, the day after the leak was reported carpet was laid upstairs! Common sense would tell you if there was a leak you don't lay carpet where there is visible water damage but they didn't care. No matter how much we complained our concerns with mold, and the risks for health issues it didn't matter they would not hear us. We hire a mold inspector to come out to take samples when we got the report back, not good! The report showed heavy levels of toxic mold linked to numerous health risks. When we met they down played the entire situation. I requested all of the green and red inspection tags, apparently a plumber was there for a few hours before that leak happened and I requested a report for that but got nothing. My husband is a retired vet 100% disabled with asthma, we have 3 kids, one only 4 months old and due to the mold issue and what it would take to remediate we had no choice but to request our money back and walk away, we were 30 days out from closing. DW didn't fight us at all, wonder why. The next day the house had an available sign in the yard. Available? They did not remediate the mold and are covering it up. They would have had to open up all the walls and use a wire brush, encapsulate it two feet beyond where the mold stopped which at that point, a month passed before we had that meeting and nothing was done so that mold had been and is currently still growing behind the walls. They attempted to replace the bathroom vanity where the mold was visibly growing, which you should NOT do as it can cause the mold to be irritated and spread more. The contractors placed the vanity down stairs in the walkway in an enclosed space! Wow everyone beware and do your due diligence in water leaks and mold. Mold can be extremely toxic especially for young children. Home owners insurance does not cover mold and if you had any mold issues after you close and had to do any type of remediation to the property, the value goes way down since it has to be disclosed if you ever wanted to sell or you could get sued. Since DW pays for things out of pocket there are loop holes for them on having to disclose. Read your purchase agreement! All big builders have an arbitration built in basically saying when you sign you give up rights to take them to court for litigation and are only able to take them to small claims court. What did they do for us? Nothing, All we were told is that there is a training opportunity for their builders and that they were sorry. Sorry? This is two years of our life full of stress and managing our own house build. They were quick to get rid of us since they can turn around cover up the mold then sell the house for more than what we we're paying for it. As an advocate I will continue to advocate to anyone attempting to build any home especially with DW. We are back in the market but choosing to not build just purchase. What a nightmare and this will forever live with me and my family as we have morned the loss of two homes. This was in lakes of river trails FTW TX. read more

I bought a house from Weekley Homes in May 2018. The house flooded the day after I moved in due to the builder stapling through a main water line. In November 2018, I was evacuated from my home due to a major gas leak that had existed since before I moved in. In Sept 2019, my laundry home flooded (my fault); however, the drain in the floor captured no water. The builder now tells me that I should have put a drain pan in and that drain was never mean to capture more than 5% of water. This is directly opposite of what they told when I inquired about the need to buy one. Never buy a home from David Weekly Homes. They do shoddy work. read more

DWH "Build On Your Lot": Beware. If you decide to proceed, I strongly encourage you to hire an independent home inspector at your own expense. We have had a number of installer-related problems that were not revealed until well after the warranty expired. Some were costly, some merely annoying, but all very disappointing in a home that is still basically new. The money we've spent correcting them would more than have paid for an professional inspector. read more

These people will look so kind at the very begining until they sell. After that during the first year they will say they will fix things, they will apply patches when or if they feel like. Be careful when they say they fix something they may actually make it worse, check after them if possible hire your own contractor. Total bait and switch. Found a DW community on Redfin in Vancouver, WA and loved the photos and floor plan. A few things didn't look right and we saw the small print that since the house wasn't done (would be done end of August), the photos were of the model home. But when we went to tour the nearly complete house, A LOT was different. not just paint colors and light fixtures. It was the most expensive home in the subdivision and the list of differences from the web listing and pictures of it were huge: - NO AC unit. Developer said we don't need it in our client. Um, yes we do. the last 10 years Portland/Vancouver has had record setting summers. just a few years ago we had over 30 straight days of 90+ degrees and a few in the 100's. Hell yes we need AC here now! - the back yard was dirt. I asked if the lawn would be put in and answer was "nope" but we have a lawn add on for a few thousand. Weird, every other house in the subdivision had a lawn in the back yard. - dining room sliding doors were downgrades (8-foot single slider vs 12-foot double slider) - no fans like in the model home. (so no AC, no fans, and the windows don't open on the main floor? pass) - no coved(?) ceilings in master - no built in shelves by the fire place like in the photos - no bathroom wainscoting like in the photos - the dining room light fixture was a $39 dollar light from home depot that my current house had when the flippers flipped it - no utility sink or window in the laundry room like in the photos - no shiplap wall treatment in the master - kitchen cabinets didn't go to ceiling and have additional storage above like in photos - smaller back yard covered patio For $600,000 in Vancouver, I expect at least AC and freaking grass in the backyard, if not higher end finishes - especially if shown in the web listing. LOVED the layout, and wanted to love the house. but the bait and switch killed it. read more

We bought a used (then 15 year old) David Weekley home in 2013 and lived in it until 2017. That home was so well built, it was the reason we decided to go with David Weekley in building our current home in 2017. Our experience with David Weekley, however, was less satisfying than we expected. I could spend paragraphs rattling off all of the problems we had from the get-go, both large and small. Our builder rarely returned phone calls or made any of the repairs we requested. We were first-time home builders, so perhaps it was our fault in not pushing issues more, but at that time, I truly believed in David Weekley as a company and that they would take care of us. The day before we were supposed to move in, they busted up the driveway because something did not meet code and suggested we just move everything in through the front door (even our garage supplies). My husband had to construct a bridge for our movers to use. I'm not sure why that - or many of the other issues - was handled so last minute considering our house sat vacant in the same state for about two months. During that time, we made friends with several of the neighbors, who also could not figure out why were unable to move in. That is just one example. Our builder told us they dumped 10 jobs on top of him when he was supposed to be finishing ours, including several inventory homes. It is not our fault David Weekley is mismanaged, but we had to suffer the consequences of that. We also did not think it was our builder's fault, so when pressured to do a survey (and believe me, they put A LOT of pressure on their surveys), we gave him a good review. He tried, but because he was so busy, our house suffered. He recently was let go, so I figured why not say what we really wanted to say. I think David Weekley is a terrible company, and I would NEVER build with them again. In fact one of their questions is if I would recommend David Weekley to a friend. My honest answer is absolutely not. In fact, I've had a couple of friends who recently considered building with David Weekley, and I talked them out of it. This company has clearly gone down in the last 20 years and does not hold itself to the same standard it once did. read more

If I could give negative starts, I would give David Weekley as many as I could. Some people told me David Weekley Homes is a reputable builder, but my personal experience proved that David Weekley Homes is a big lier. The entire home buying process was very disappointing. 1. I gave them our deposit on May and they told me later the house price increased by $10,000 and I need to pay $10,000 more if I wanted to continue. Ok, I compromised. 2. When I signed the contract, I was told the house would be ready to move in before Christmas, but until today, Oct 31st, the foundation is not even there yet. Fine, I compromised again. 3. I paid $12, 500 lot premier because the house is right behind the community pool, and I was guaranteed that part of the pool would be right behind my yard. But what's the reality? There will only be a cabana and several chairs! When I talked to David Weekley to express my upset, and tried to negotiate a solution, the management just show no willing to negotiate. The only thing they wanted to do is to give my deposit back so that they could sell a house for a higher price. It's such a shame that David Weekley Homes didn't keep their word, didn't treat their customers with honest, and didn't want their customers to be happy. The only thing they want is to make more money no matter how their customers feel. Please stay away from David Weekley Homes!!!! read more

We purchased a David Weekley home in Estrella in Goodyear AZ and it was the biggest mistake we ever made. Quality and David Weekley does not exist. The salesperson that we had would rather tell you a lie than the truth and thank goodness he is not longer with the company. We bought our lot in April 2017 and told our pre-drywall meeting would be in July 2017 which didn't happen until Sept 2017 as they had framing issues with our home. When we did have our meeting in Sept they had put the wrong HVAC system and water heater in and we had to wait a month for that to be corrected at our expense. We were supposed to move in Nov 2017 but did not take possession until Jan 2018. If it hadn't been for moving because of my health I would have let them have the house. The interior walls are not on 16" centers, the baseboards and trim are mdf and not wood. The cabinets are still not what they were supposed to be but we have given up on that problem - Stay clear of Oakcraft cabinets. When we moved in every faucet would just lift off as they did not tighten the set screws and not the towel bars and toilet paper holders are doing the same thing. The dishwasher was not installed correctly and they just corrected this on May 8, 2018. We have had workers in our home every week since we moved in and we are not finished yet. If I can help anyone else to avoid the nightmare of building a David Weekley home that would be great as I would not wish our experience on my worst enemy. We paid $800K for a house that is probably worth $450K. We have built 3 other homes and a restaurant and never encountered the problems that we have with this one. One thing I can say for sure about David Weekley is they are consistent as they screw up every home the build. If you are considering purchasing please go through some of the ones in progress before making the mistake that we did. There is not such thing as customer satisfaction. The contractors they use take no pride in their work and try to destroy other work and they just say that's okay we'll fix it - why not do it right the first time. David Weekley Homes (DWH) isn't the top quality home builder they portray themselves as. Our experience, as well as our neighbors was building a home with poorly trained trades that were supposedly trained in the "David Weekley Way". This was a DWH marketing term for better trained trades, which just wasn't the case at all. After the 2008 market crash the level of skill in this industry has never fully recovered. You may have a single skilled worker monitoring 5 unskilled, which never works. DWH employs what they call a General Contractor (GC) to oversee the work on the homes through the different stages. The majority of these so called GC's are not even licensed to hold this title and have too many homes to check with no real impact on quality control. They also get used to the poor workmanship, and don't even notice how poorly things are put together anymore, stating that they will fix it in the future. We had to argue endless times to make them look into structural issues, roof issues, framing issues and various smaller problems that they overlooked at best and ignored at worst. We also found that DWH would work with their trades to attempt to lie to the customer about why something was working as it should, when it clearly wasn't. It wasn't until we pulled information from the manufacturers website that they changed their tune. Their warranty process is also poor, with DWH hiring warranty reps who have extremely limited knowledge in construction. Most issues that are brought up are either immediately dismissed or fixing the problem would "open Pandora's box". They would attempt to sow this doubt so that the homeowner wouldn't want to address the problem out of fear. We saw this happen every visit with our warranty rep, and when pushed they admitted a problem and applied their trademark band aid solution. With that being said, DWH isn't run in a way that promotes a build process that holds trades accountable for poor workmanship, it's just the opposite, the trades run DWH as they can leave for other work if pushed too much. Add on top of this poor oversight by DWH throughout the build process and you have a nightmare of warranty work to deal with. DWH employees are incompetent, don't follow up and poorly document your issues causing multiple return trips and weeks of PTO days taken. Our warranty process lasted 18 months, and we went through 2 warranty reps, after the first was fired. Our "GC" was fired shortly after we had closed as well, which speaks volumes to our experience building with this former shell of a company. We still have a house with two different colors that the top brass refuse to fix because their old eyes can't see the difference, while we provided proof from the Sherwin-Williams (SW) store where they bought the paint. The colors were run through a spectrometer analysis, and SW stated they were different and a mistake was made. When this information was provided to the DWH regional manager, he just ignored it and depended on his poor eyesight. Anyone not working for DWH could see the difference and we asked dozens of contractors and neighbors. The honest 1 year survey was submitted with the remaining issues and as they had nothing left to gain at that point they chose to ignore facts and evidence in place of pride. I guess we made the mistake of being honest with our survey and once that nail was in the coffin they refused anymore assistance. This company puts too much weight in their customer surveys, all the while ignoring the negative word of mouth from deceived homeowners. If you are thinking of building with DWH, do yourself a favor and stop and find a smaller builder that can provide a better experience or buy an existing home built before 2010. If you are already building with DWH, make sure that you hire an inspector at 3 different stages of the home building process to hold them accountable for major defects. You will still be responsible for identifying all the minor issues with trim, walls, paint, floors, ceilings and poor materials offered at a premium. The first inspection should occur when all electrical is completed, pre drywall where you can see all the way from one exterior wall to the other. The second is prior to closing on the home, have another inspector or the same one if you liked them come in and identify problems that need to be fixed with the roof, water leaks, electrical, windows, doors, caulking, etc. and make them fix them before you close. Lastly, at the 10-month mark if you decided to close on the home to allow the inspector time to schedule and provide the report before the 1 year is over. In other words, this company is poorly run by it's upper management who doesn't care unless they get their coveted 10's on surveys. Executive management is out of touch with the folks in the trenches and terrible quality of their work. They will sell you the dream, but don't follow through on their promise. Do not EVER buy a David Weekley Home. This has been an absolute nightmare working with these people. Horrible communication and HORRIBLE service. Not to mention the quality is awful. All they care about is throwing up houses as quickly as possible and then leaving you to rot. For example, I bought a brand new house and the driveway was already cracking. Two weeks into me moving in I bring this up and they say they will "patch it" which we know wont hold. I can literally pick up chunks of my driveway. Then over the last few months they had workers drive buy and take pictures of cars parked at my driveway to try and build a case for why they shouldnt have to fix it. SO SHADY!! Not to mention ALL of my trim is chipped or poorly throw together, there are nails sticking out in my stairs, the cap boards look like trash. A month after I moved in they replaced my roof (luckily) but I bought the house without even knowing the roof NEEDED a replacement. Its just horrible. Probably the biggest regret I have made and the worst investment for my family was buying this home. read more

I picked David weekley to build my house in 2017 . After 9 months for them to build the house we moved in june 2018 to find out that the house have so much problems from cosmetic to structural. The house was overall poorly built.. They sent their engineer out 2 times after the first 3 different repair attempts and their own engineer failed the inspections . I had to hired my own structural engineer and he found much more issues to the structure of the house. How are they able to pass inspection ????? Did they inspect my house???? I had asked many times and they still can't answer my question . 10 months with 7 times they came to do repaired structure and now any more issue to the house ?? we don't know . Is the house safe for my family ???? David weekley had cost me so much time, money, and stress and I'm very frustrated with them . I've contacted them so many times in the last 10 months that I have numbers of everyone up the chain of command including corporate office and they have not fixed all the problems. read more

- We had a terrible experience with David Weekley. We had to fight a lot to get things done right. We had to make too many phone calls, send too many emails.. both my husband and I have very demanding jobs and work long hours, and we did not have the time to deal with all this mess outside of our jobs. Did we get all things done? NO! Because warranty department and builder consider them "cosmetic" and they fall into category "things happen". So now we will start fixing things on a brand new home with our money. - The leading engineer was often absent when our house was built due to family vacations and family leave. The workers were often left unsupervised and they did too many mistakes, which we caught on time before closing - thank God. - When we had a problem after closing, it took them five weeks to address our concern. And only because both my husband and I didn't give up and kept calling them and sending them emails. It was very tiring for us! - We currently have an issue that they refuse to fix because they classified it as "cosmetic". However, other people who work in construction field said that the problem occurred because of poor workmanship. So not even 6 months after we moved in, we are now looking at fixing things with our own money. - The sales consultant was deceitful and we caught her lying to us. We lost our respect for her and stopped trusting her right away! However it was hard to continue working with someone we could not trust anymore. We are very disappointed and we cannot recommend this company. read more
