I have had some incredibly bad eye doctors in my life, and less than great times with Sam's Club…read moreproper, and admittedly went in nervous with a bit of a chip on my shoulder. Dr Christensen was very quick the first time, and because of previous experiences, I wasn't sure if that was a red flag. She was very personable, but one of the gentlemen who answered phones for her back then was rather rude and unhelpful. I decided to wait a year 'til my next exam and reserve my official judgment, but I was uneasy. Fast forward to a year later, and my daughter suddenly has one side of her face swell like crazy, and the soonest the pediatrician could get her in would be right after my eye appointment with Dr. Christensen - I had to take a 4 yr. old in with me, and I didn't know if that was allowed. Not only was Dr. Christensen OK with it, she was SUPER sweet to my poor little one and offered to get us though it very quickly so we could go to the other appointment. This time, it was very clear that she was doing a good job, just speedily. She spent several minutes just talking to my daughter one-on-one out of genuine concern and interest. The guy who had been rude to me the first time was VERY nice this time, and even directed me to Zenni Optical since I don't have a Sam's membership and so can't buy eye wear there. I was able to afford prescription sunglasses that way for the first time ever! Fast forward again, yesterday I saw a bizarre flashing curve in my field of vision. I didn't think much of it until that night because it didn't hurt and went away quickly, but reading online, I saw that it was possible my retina was beginning to detach, and that that can lead to permanent blindness in a very short time! I was terrified, and called the Dr first thing in the morning. The girl who answered the phone offered to make an appointment right away OR just consult with the Dr. and call me back very soon, I went with the latter. I got a call only about an hour later saying that the Dr. thought it was just an ocular migraine, but would like to look at my eye just to be on the safe side - which of course I wanted to do! I was in her chair an hour and 15 min later. This time I had to take both my 5 and 3 yr old with me, but there was a basket of toys ready, and again she spent plenty of time just chatting with them and explaining things to them and even showing them charts and looking in their eyes with a light since they're crazy about giving pretend doctor exams. She also explained everything to me in depth, and showed me pictures of pertinent info online. I am so grateful to her, not only for keeping me safe and being a great medical professional, but for being such a genuinely kind and helpful person on a personal level. She's my eye doctor as long as she's in business! Thank you, thank you, thank you to Dr. Christensen and her stellar staff! You have made meaningful changes in my eye health AND in my attitude!
