I hate to have to say this, but Ozark Eye Center has shown itself, in my experience, to be…read moreunbelievably incompetent and unwilling to accept responsibility for its mistakes. In my case, they made five mistakes in a row, finally refusing to correct them. * One: The ophthalmologist assigned me a non-standard reading-distance in my glasses prescription; it was too far away for me to read comfortably. * Two: An optician specified that the bifocal line be very low, saying she thought I had requested it. I had not. * Three: To correct the reading-distance, the optometrist did a new refraction, but forgot (!) to enter the new diopter specification on the prescription, so I had the same wrong glasses as before. * Four: Another optician undertook to do a loose-lens test to correct the prescription, but lacking something so simple as a tape-measure, she tried to improvise, and mismeasured my requested reading-distance by an inch and a half, too close for me to read easily. * Five: That last pair of lenses came back from the lab with the close-focus insets in two different positions and at different angles. In spite all these errors, they refused me any remedy except another pair of the too-close lenses, despite the fact that the one option between the too-far and too-close prescriptions would have required no further testing. My only mistake was in politely accepting that these people were competent in their jobs.

This business gets only an "Could've been better" rating. The doctor appeared to be competent with…read morethe eye exam but the Eye Center where you actually buy the frames is set up for rich people with healthy insurance, not the working class or retired person on a fixed income. I went in there explaining that I want to stay inexpensive close to the deductible. What I got was a quote for the highest priced frames and every little enhancement they could throw at me. I've never heard of "balanced" lenses before and logically, it's a scam if you aren't wearing 2" thick coke-bottle glasses. When I suggested something much cheaper, she huffed and puffed to the back room to bring out a tray of nice looking "affordable" frames. Apparently I was cutting into her commissions. So I got the overpriced cheap set. The lenses I received were no better than Dollar Tree for durability. They scuffed within a week and since I chose that lens, it came with zero warranty. My cheap Dollar Tree reading glasses were much more durable. Final note: I looked at my coverage. It said the exam was covered. I asked the front desk, they said the exam was covered. Guess what? They needed another $40 out of me several months later. While I was protesting this charge, I received a Past Due bill and 2 days later a phone call asking when I was going to pay. They can have my $40 but I promise you, I won't be back and I won't recommend this place. I hope gouging me was worth it.
