Terrible experience at thIS dentist office. I've written a letter to my insurance company and I really should be filing a malpractice lawsuit against this dentist office. They're so busy trying to cram as many patients and that they did not take time out to care for the patient. That's in front of them. Also, the front desk person I was very rude while I was trying to make an appointment. On top of all this is a very expensive experience. I'm disappointed in the service. I see a lot of people love this office and I had someone refer this dentist to me. I had got Invisalign from them. Long story, when I was done, I had great pain in my jaw from the wisdom teeth was pushing on my new $4000+ teeth. Mind that I asked them before if I should have to remove the wisdom teeth, they said no it wouldn't be a problem. Who would pay to have Invisalign then get wisdom teeth extracted to get Invisalign again because that is where I am. read more

I have been extremely busy since my last appointment in early April thus the late review I had another awesome experience from Dr. Davis' staff! My appointment was to have a deep cleaning. I forgot the woman's name but she was great! She walks you through the procedure step by step and puts you at easy.. She said there might be some minor soreness after, but I experienced not at all....even days after. Sade was her normal professional and very pleasant self at the front desk! Before this experience, I couldn't imagine writing review about a dentist. However, this office forced my hand. The staff is phenomenal. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. They walk you through everything they're doing and make you feel like a valued client. My hygienist not only explained what she was doing, but why she was doing it and what I could do to improve my dental health. I have found my dental home!! read more

Okay, I'm going to be real with this review. If you need a straightforward cleaning, then this is an OK place to go... Although, I will mention that the hygienist I had seemed rushed, wasn't very friendly, and almost seemed "annoyed" that she had to clean my teeth.. However, if you need ANYTHING else (fillings, crowns, root canals, etc). Do NOT go here... I have a lot of dental issues, including 11 fillings. I came to Dr. Davis for 2 fillings. To start with, her assistant applied topical numbing gel on a Qtip, put it in my mouth, and left me sitting there for 15 minutes. I started to swallow the gel, and it dripped down my throat and made it numb, and then I started to panic because of the terrible sensation. They put WAY too much topical gel on me. Not necessary!! Then, I have never felt as much pain with the novocaine shots as I did with Dr. Davis. Other dentists I've been to jiggle your cheek and numb the specific area first, so you barely feel the needle. Dr. Davis is NOT skilled with administering the shots into your gums. I felt the entire needle go in, and I knew it was going to be bad....then, while she was drilling the teeth, there was a nauseating smell of ground tooth and her assistant didn't understand anything she was asking for in terms of tools, so she had to keep repeating it over and over again. To say the least, it was very unpleasant for me. I can't remember ever being in that much discomfort for routine fillings before, and I have 11 of them!!! Then, to top it off, I was in excruciating pain the rest of the night, mainly on my cheeks and gums where she had put the novocaine needle in.. I had to take painkillers, which I have NEVER had to do before. In fact, it hurt 3 days later!! And since she filled those 2 teeth, I have had sensitivity and problems ever since (I never had any issues with those teeth previously). If you have a PPO, I would highly recommend going elsewhere. There are many other dentists in this area who are more gentle and precise and you will have a better experience. read more

All I can say is wow!!! My daughter's tooth extraction (which was really worrisome up till now) took less than one hour from the moment we walked through the door. This dental office has the friendliest staff you could ever meet. They not only know what they're doing, but they know and understand what we needed, and they made our experience a very pleasant one indeed. They're pretty good here. They won't take any new CareFirstBlueCrossBlueShield patients though, because they've been having trouble getting payments from them. Also, they do a D0431(Adjunctive pre-diagnostic test that aids in detection of mucosal abnormalities including premalignant and malignant lesions, not to include cytology or biopsy procedures) procedure that is basically an oral cancer screening and CareFirstBlueCrossBlueShield won't cover it. after leaving a review about them missing a cavity that the subsequent dentist found, Tanzania Davis' office called me to cancel my next appointment and didn't offer to reschedule. She thought that Dr. Vargas in Bowie was petty for doing that to patients, and her own office did it. I had my first cleaning w/the new dentist two months ago, and he caught two cavities that had to have been overlooked/neglected by Tanzania Davis (I got a second opinion for a failed filling after my last visit w/Tanzania and he caught a cavity that she missed), and when I got my cleaning w/my new dentist he caught these advanced cavities, deep cavities, that Tanzania Davis missed/neglected. I absolutely do not recommend Tanzania Davis, unless you want your cavities neglected into root canals. I specifically remember telling the dental assistant how that area had been bothering me the last several cleanings at Tanzania Davis' office in which they told me, more than once, more than one cleaning, for YEARS, "isn't anything." unprofessional and incompetent, caused me pain and suffering. if you want pain and suffering, she's your dentist. read more

Dr. Davis has been my dentist for over six years now. Her staff are incredible and knowledgeable. It's easy for me to get an appointment. I'm not a big fan of the Dentist but she makes going not so bad. I never been a pain despite having to get a few needles in the past; never even felt them, she takes that anxiety away. For me she's a little far when it comes the distance but I wouldn't change her for the world. read more

I have been going to Dr. Davis since approximately 2008. Initially, things were great. I don't have a lot of dental issues so I mainly go for cleanings and I think I have about 1-2 fillings in the last 6 years. I will say, on the teeth I've had filled, I have experienced increased sensitivity. That is unusual for me as I don't typically have that. The last straw for me, was when I arrived promptly for my appointment and was told that the dentist was not in that day. Keep in mind, I drive 26 miles to see this dentist - so I wasted my time and money due to the inconvenience. This is very unprofessional and inconsiderate. This is also the 2nd time this has happened to me. The first time was about a year or so ago, I arrived and was told the Dr had an emergency and wouldn't be in, and that they (receptionist) called all patients to let them know. No one had called me. Turns out, they hadn't updated my phone number on file. I provided the new # again and everything was fine. But this happened again today (same excuse of "emergency" and all patients were notified) - but there was no call from them or voicemail from them on my phone. I declined to reschedule the appt and also canceled my future appointment for my routine check up, as I will not be back. I will find a dentist in my area that is more professional, caring of their patient's time and money, and provides better dental work. read more

My hygienist, Porsha, was very friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job explaining each step of the process to me. Likewise, Dr. Davis was very thorough and professional. My family has decided to leave this practice after making appointments, taking off from work or picking up the children from school, and showing up only to find the office is closed. This occurred three times this year. In general, your time is not valued at this practice. Additionally, the male "office manager" rescheduled my appointments for random days without discussing with me. Another issue is that services are forced on you with high out of pocket expenses with little to no explanation of the service being offered. No options, just charges and time wasted. If the office is not closed, and you are able to actually be seen by Dr. Davis, your experience is fine. My children felt ignored, and always commented that her staff was not gentle. I had to call several times to have my records released and when I stated my issues and concerns, the male office manager never apologized or made any professional attempt to maintain the business. In short-- I went there for several years, with each year getting worse. They are more in to billing your insurance for things you don't need rather than providing a good service. I really had an awesome experience at this dentist! I was referred to Dr. Davis by a co-worker. She said she recently went and the place was nice and clean and the staff was really nice. Well, that was an understatement! First, the receptionist was very warm and friendly. She was helpful and patient with me as I filled out paperwork for my dependent and I. My dependent and I were seen at the same time...on time with two different specialist. Both of our specialist were kind, very easy on our teeth and provided great feedback for better care for our teeth. Dr. Davis is really friendly and you can tell she's in it because she loves what she does. I have not been to a dentist in a long time, so I thought I was going to be embarrassed. I wasn't my specialist (Portia) was kind and told me what I needed to do to get back on track. I left feeling good. I was helped and the staff was exceptional...from the front desk to Dr. Davis. I really appreciate the service an friendly staff. This place is highly recommend. Oh and I forgot to mention that I received at least 3 reminder text /messages and a courtesy call the day of. All of my contact with the between myself and the staff at Dr. Davis have been pleasant. I can't say enough about the great service. There was also a gentleman there who did my X-rays, he was also very warm and pleasant to be around. I sure didn't want to leave him out because my dependent and I both enjoyed him.
