I am so glad that I called A&P Designers Landscaping to the rescue. They came out the same day to assess my needs and concerns. They quickly gave me a quote for the initial project of just taming the forest that had become my lawn. It had gotten so bad I didn't even want to go outside into the back yard because it was so depressing. They quickly came back with a quote and within a week he and Ernesto were there to do the work. We hauled away two large dumpsters of overgrown shrubs, trees, yard debris. Everything began to take shape again. The first phase of the project went so well that I quickly worked with them to address areas of hardscape that had fallen into disrepair to bring structure back to landscape elements that had been covered up and neglected. We added slate chip to the front entry, a new slate chip path to define the front of the house. They reconstructed the slate chip path along the side of the house and installed a new slate chip terrace level in an area that had been designed to have sod but because of lack of sun never filled in properly. They reconstructed the hardscape for a small patio area off the back of the house. They also laid pine straw and mulch over the entire property. The transformation was amazing. It went from a sad back yard that was depressing to a beautiful space that I can enjoy like a peaceful retreat. Through all of this I couldn't have ask for better people to work with. They were always happy to go the extra mile to make me happy. It was obvious how much pride they took in doing an amazing job. When discussing plans for the next phase of a project with Them it was like I was collaborating with a friend on a project. They were always ready with suggestions and open to ideas. I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of everything. Of course I now use A&P Designers Landscaping for my yard maintenance as well. I can't believe how long I went without a valued partner in caring for my yard. I contacted him about cutting my grass like a month ago, he gets back an entire week later and apologized. I text him and no response so unprofessional and he never came by today like he said he would. I believe he doesn't care about lower paying jobs like $50 and under because I have a small yard that he charges $45 for, but he shouldn't ignore his lower paying customers just because he might have gotten a bigger job somewhere else. I stayed in frequent contact after the grading was done, especially because I was distressed watching the work literally wash away in the summer rains. Had photos or a site visit been requested in any of those communications, I would have complied promptly. When photos were requested, I supplied them nearly immediately. And as for the scope of work, I legitimately had no idea what the initial quote included. I stressed to the company I had zero experience with a yard of my own, so I asked for guidance about what I should do on my property. There was apparently a massive communication gap. We don't know what we don't know; that's why we hire people. I stand by the review.

I was referred to Green Grass Pro and its owner, Jay Cohen, by another reputable local business…read moreowner (Lee Tuck of Summit Fence) who was working on my property. Lee told me that we needed the front of our yard to be graded and re-sod before they could complete our new fence. I also wanted our foot path to be re-done, as it had been thrown together with cheap materials (gravel, mainly) by a prior contractor. Knowing Lee to be an honest and knowledgeable guy, I followed his recommendation, and I'm glad I did. Jay is meticulous, honest, and very communicative. We ran into a number of problems - apparently our land had been used as a dumping ground for other contractors who worked in the neighborhood over the past several decades, with rocks all over the place (not just the surface boulders that had been used in the landscaping when we bought it). While the yard was being raked out, I saw brick after brick being raked up by the workers. Ultimately and unfortunately, Jay had to take more than three loads of dirt, rocks, and other detritus to the dump. Jay has top notch workers and independent contractors - a mason who put together a wonderful looking path, an excavator who finessed his heavy machinery like a ballerina around our fence posts, guys who fit in sod like a jigsaw puzzle, carefully avoiding our new fence gate's track. Along with that, when a slow leak in our water main was discovered, he had an expert plumber on speed dial who showed up later that same day and replaced the aging pipes with something modern, along with an underground faucet easily accessible under a panel in our path. If anything, I would say that Jay is so collaborative in his approach that it may be misinterpreted as "forgetful," as another reviewer put it. He's a perfectionist who will triple check how things are going - in my opinion, the success of a project is never forgotten for him, but instead is a preoccupation for him until he feels assured that it's achieved. If you want someone who will show up, do what they say, and let you know exactly what to expect, go with Green Grass Pro.
