For some reason, this branch of Dawsons looks and feels more inviting than the city centre branch near Piccadilly. I suspect it's down to the eye-catching window displays which lure customers in with a myriad of colourful musical instruments.
Admittedly, the stock isn't as extensive or varied as Johnny Roadhouse but if you're looking to invest in your first guitar, bass, drum kit, synth or clarinet - its an okay starting point. The staff here seem more enthusiastic and approachable than at the Piccadilly branch and don't raise their eyebrows if you ask about handling and trying the instruments first. Always a bonus, I know!
Handily, they sell sheet music, guitar straps, amps and accessories too. All you need is a minidisc player or MP3 player to start recording your, ahem, first tunes. Good job there's a Richer Sounds around the corner so you can invest in one.
